Eminem wins one more award at Detroit Music Awards 2022
Jazz-soul singer Tosha Owens led the slate of winners last night at the 31st Detroit Music Awards, taking 3 honors across different genres.
In the national field, Alice Cooper took outstanding major label recording for “Detroit Stories,” the Motor City native’s old-school blast of hard rock. Stevie Wonder’s pandemic-lockdown collaboration with Elton John (“Finish Line”) was awarded outstanding national single, while Eminem’s “Tone Deaf” took the win for Outstanding Video, Major Budget.
“Tone Deaf” lyrics video was made by a fan, Sri Lankan animation artist Randy Chriz, which later was officially acquired by Eminem himself. The Music To Be Murdered By single has racked up 18 million views on YouTube.
Last year, Eminem’s Music To Be Murdered By album also won Outstanding National Major Label Recording. With “Tone Deaf” Eminem now holds 12 Detroit Music Awards in total. His first one was “The Real Slim Shady” for Outstanding National Single, back in 2001.
