Legendary hip-hop duo, Mobb Deep’s Havoc, was recently interviewed by HipHopDX magazine where he talked about an iconic track “Shook One’s, Part II” being used in Eminem‘s 8 Mile movie’s rap battle scene against Papa Doc.
“I mean, I was really taken back because I didn’t even know that, if Eminem was a fan, you know what I mean? So to hear that and I found out he was a fan and then ching-ching sound [getting money] went off in my head…I bought this Fendi sweater [Laughs].” said Havoc.
“Shook Ones (Part II)” is being played in the opening scene of 8 Mile when main character B-Rabbit, portrayed by Eminem, is preparing for his battle. An instrumental version of the song is played as the beat for the final battle of the film as well. It also appears on the intro of the Season 2 premiere episode “Soul Brother #1” of the Marvel-Netflix TV Show Luke Cage, in which Luke Cage disrupts a Drug Operation that was peddling a drug named after him. We can also hear it in the 2005 video games Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories in the in-game radio station The Liberty Jam and in True Crime: New York City and in NBA 2K13 and NBA 2K18.
“Shook Ones (Part II)” is the lead single from Mobb Deep’s 1995 album called The Infamous and it is a sequel to 1994 promotional single “Shook Ones”, with similar lyrics, but less profanity. In 1997, the song was sampled by Mariah Carey in her single “The Roof (Back in Time)“. For its single remix, Mobb Deep recorded additional raps and also appeared in the music video made for the single.
The song is recognized as one of the greatest hip-hop songs of all time by music critics. It is also certified gold single in the United Kingdom and Denmark.
During the latest episode of “Just A Little Shady” podcast, Hailie Jade Mathers talked about how the lack of ability to start a conversation puts family and friends in awkward situations, which also happened at Eminem‘s 50th birthday few days ago.
She also talked about getting nostalgic over childhood Halloween movies while discussing the sequels that have come out this year, discussing the “rat race” of life (literally and hypothetically) and much more.
“Lets start with some positive things. It was my dad’s birthday this week. We all got together and it was actually really funny. It was friends and family. But while everyone was still strolling in and we were waiting everybody to get there we ended up collecting at a table and it was just like family and after like 10 minutes go by and we realized people coming in, it appeared as we were having a meeting. And after 10 minutes we look at each other and we are like ‘This is birthday party, I’m pretty sure we need to be social.’ You could literally tell our family from everybody else socializing. I’m like ‘We need to be social’. Yeah, it was just so funny.” said Hailie.
“But you know what? It is what we are for sure. There is one thing about us. We can maintain and carry a conversation, no problem, but to start the conversation we are just not good at it. We struggle so hard to facilitate the conversation, once it’s going – golden. But to start it – no, no, no.” Hailie added.
The 2022 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony will take place on November 5, 2022 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, United States.
Two weeks later, a summarized version of the event will be available to stream on HBO Max network.
Honorees this year include Eminem, Duran Duran, Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo, Eurythmics, Lionel Richie, Dolly Parton and Carly Simon. Parton was on the fence about whether she felt deserving of the honor earlier this year, believing she was not rocking enough for the Rock Hall. But the Rock Hall and Parton’s many fans believe there isn’t an award on the face of the planet she shouldn’t at least be in the conversation for.
Eminem is the only hip-hop artist to be inducted this year. He’s also the only artist that began releasing music in the nineties, and the only act to be inducted in their first year of eligibility.
Although its the first year of eligibility, Slim Shady is very familiar to Rock Hall stage as he inducted Run-D.M.C. back in 2009 and performed “Going Back To Cali” and “Rock The Bells” with LL Cool J last year.
Today, Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame officially confirmed that Eminem will be one of the performers at the ceremony. Although it is unknown which song(s) Eminem will perform or if there is a special guest, it is definitely going to be an epic night.
The constantly decreasing interest in NFT and the plunge in trading volumes have strongly affected the football player Neymar Jr. and Detroit legend Eminem in terms of their digital art purchases.
At the beginning of the year 2022, the Brazilian superstar purchased two digital collectibles as a part of the Bored Ape Yacht Club for more than $1 million, and the current valuation of the art is approximately $340,000. Eminem’s paper losses as of the moment are around $330,000.
Back in January this year, Eminem purchased Bored Ape 9055 for 123,45 ETH or $462,00 at the time. As of the moment, though, the estimated valuation of his collectible has dropped to around $140,000.
Moreover, Slim Shady even teamed up with another NFT collector – legendary Snoop Dogg – to create a BAYC-themed song, “From The D 2 The LBC,” from Curtain Call 2 compilation album. The two even dropped music video directed by James Larese. The animated video shows Em and Snoop imagined as NFT-esque avatars in a comic book.
On the day of the single’s release, Snoop Dogg and Eminem performed the song live at ApeFest 2022, a festival held in New York for Bored Ape NFT holders. In summer they also performed the song live at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards in Newark, New Jersey.
After all the promotion, the NFTs world still seems to be struggling.
