Detroit’s own Hatch The Wiseguy and Shady Records publishing artist Astray have recently joined forces for a new single “Down TO Be Down,” and the music video came with it!

During a conversations with Southpawer, Hatch talked about the background of the single: “This song was originally an old idea we created when Astray and I first met years ago, but we never ended up releasing the song. Years later (2023), I rediscovered the track on an old hard drive, and it felt like the perfect time in my life to put something like this out.” he said.

Then he continued: “Astray and I discussed some new ideas and changed parts of the verses and the chorus. We then added some new instruments to the beat and I also added a bridge to update the overall sound and breathe new life into the concept.”

“Astray and I have collaborated for years, so our musical chemistry is natural and free-flowing. We trust one another’s opinions. There is a mutual respect between us as creatives.” he added.

The song is supposed to be the firs single off Hatch’s upcoming project with also features D12’s Bizarre and Kxng Crooked among others.

Danny Brown talks getting inspired by Eminem, says it hurts him when some people discredit Em

Detroit’s Danny Brown has recently sat down FLAGRANT where he told some of his wildest stories, including an incident that happened while opening for Eminem at his one of the biggest shows. He also talked about getting inspired by Eminem and being hurt from people who try to discredit Slim Shady.

“When Eminem came out, it gave me hope. Because, I was like, ‘damn, my ni**a from Detroit made it!’ I changed my whole rap style after that. That style comes from Eminem. Everybody was like ‘that’s going to be a style of Detroit.’ I just literally studied and tried to rap like Eminem.” said Danny Brown.

Then he continues: “I feel bad how people try to treat Em now. I feel like this is the most purest of him being in hip-hop to be honest. He’s having fun. He is not having no pressure to make hit songs or to be big rapper like before he had all that s**t. He’s obviously making music to have fun and everybody trying to make him like meme and joke on him and s**t. That type of s**t would make me not want to make music. And the fact that he’s still making music like ‘f**k everybody’ is amazing but he probably is not an internet guy like we are so he probably don’t see none of this s**t but it kinda hurts my hart man because I’m like ‘Man, Eminem does not deserve that s**t.”

“I met Eminem few times. I played real bad show one time. I opened for him and at Wembley, my biggest show ever. It was an amazing show. 100,000 people! But one time I did too much f**king Adderall and I was just sad and s**t. It was me, Run The Jewels, Russ and Em. And I was just playing the show and the crowd was not really f**king with me. And I was like ‘f**k this show’ and I just threw the microphone into the crowd and walked off stage.” -Danny Brown added.

SHADY RECORDS TAKEOVER. Westside Boogie kicked off his “More Black Superheroes” in Detroit on September 17, 2022 and he brought GRIP with him!

During the performance of ‘Rainy Days,” which features Eminem from Boogie’s debut album Everythings For Sale, the Compton rapper showed love to Slim Shady: “Yo, make the noise for Eminem just to sign me and change a ni**a life. Actually, my favorite Eminem song is ‘The Way I Am.” And then he starts rapping the hook of the song with crowd chanting along, before kicking the Joey Bada$$ assisted “Outside” verse where he interpolates the lyrics and flow of the legendary song from The Marshall Mathers LP with the following lines:

Funny that I’m standin’ with the dude who made Stan / But never treat me like a fan, ’cause what I am, what I am / Whatever you say I am, s**t, if I was interesting / Why would I say I am? S**t, and the the radio don’t even play my jam / I give no damn, I’m in Bompton with the fam’.

Tech N9ne visits Eminem’s “Trailer” & “Mom’s Spaghetti” while being in Detroit

On September 27, 2021 a strange 30-second video clip appeared on Eminem’s YouTube channel: not a music video teaser, or the first few verses of a new rap single, but a quick-moving advertisement. It appeared, Marshall Mathers, the man who brought white working-class angst to the top of the charts, was opening a restaurant.

Two days later, the legendary rapper surprised fans at the grand opening in downtown Detroit, where he served heaping ladlefuls of pasta to a queue of customers that snaked around the block.

Mom’s Spaghetti is named for the famed first verse of “Lose Yourself,” a single written for the movie “8 Mile” that sold more than 10 million copies in the United States and earned Eminem diamond certification, Oscar and Grammy awards.

Inside the restaurant there is Stans’ space called “Trailer” — a merchandise shop above the dining area —  where you can see Eminem-themed pint glasses, T-shirts, sneakers, the Robin costume from the music video for “Without Me,” and much more.

It appears, Tech N9ne visited Detroit couple of days ago and he didn’t miss a chance to visit Eminem’s place in the city. He posted two videos on his Instagram, one which gives the look of the Trailer and the other where he tastes “Mom’s Spaghetti.” In the caption, Tech wrote: “DOPE AF!” while tagging Eminem.

Bizarre recalls losing rap battle to Eminem, talks about D12, Big Proof & much more

Bizarre has recently done “Off The Porch” interview with Mikala Horne on Dirty Glove Bastard.

During the conversation Biz broke down the different miles of Detroit, his childhood growing up in 7 Mile, childhood story of getting hit in the face, jumping off the porch at the 18, how he has navigated throughout his life and learning how to move cautiously, thoughts on the new generation, started rapping in the fifth grade and it leading into his rap name, being influenced by Scarface and Redman, his mom making him rap at churches and auditioning, his experience with battle rapping, Eminem being judged off his race during battle rapping, Big Proof creating the group, the creative concept behind the shower caps, rules back in the day when it came to the industry, not having a lot of support when they first came out, Jay Electronica doing videography for D12, smoke sessions with Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg and more!

“Back in the days, it was like ‘white man can’t jump.’ That’s the best way I can describe. It was always like ‘man who is this white boy? but once Eminem opened his mouth and started rapping they were like ‘ohh, s**t, this white boy nice.’ So people who knew he was nice there was no doubt about it but we were always constantly going to new environments, so when we were going to new environment, I already kinda knew ‘alright there’s going to be some bulls**t’ and then when Em opened his mouth and before he even finished his verse, there was already believers, so yeah, there were lots of doubters cause Detroit is 90% black city. Lots of ni**as bet money cause they thought they gonna be able to beat Eminem in battle.” said the D12 emcee.

When interviewer asked about him battling Eminem, Bizarre responded: “I did battle Eminem before. Did I win? NAAAH, NAAH [Laughs] but I did not lose to a lot of people, I lost to him and I lost to Swifty McVay before.”

“There was a process of elimination when battling. It might have been 50 people in this battle so If I win, I just win the first round. I still got like five other rounds to go and then if I win the whole battle, then I can battle Eminem because he was the champion, he was just on the sidelines, waiting to see who gonna win out of this 50 people.” – Bizarre added.
