Joe Budden picks J. Cole over Eminem in ‘Best Rapper Alive’ brackets

It’s the return of Joe Budden on Complex!

The former rapper and popular hip-hop podcaster pops back into his old stomping ground to debate Complex magazine‘s B. Dot on who the best rapper alive is: Eminem, Kanye West, Drake, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar, Nas and more, see who takes the crown!

At one stage of the brackets, J. Cole popped up against Eminem. Here is what Joe replied: “Cole! Em has been…He left earth one time though but that needs to be more consistent for me. J. Cole is doing this while playing in and out of Italian league basketball. Or wherever the f**k he’s playing basketball. It was in Africa? He doing all this while hitting he baseline three. And Cole’s last album for me is Chef’s Kiss, I have not got that from Em in a little bit. Not saying that he’s incapable doing that but I have not gotten that. I’m going Cole.”

Elsewhere in the brackets Budden chose Benny The Butcher over Freddie Gibbs. Nicki Minaj over Cardi B. Pusha T over Drake. Lil Wayne over NBA YoungBoy. Future over Kanye West. Jay-Z over Nas. Lil Durk over Lil Baby. Kendrick Lamar over Benny The Butcher and Tyler The Creator over Nicki Minaj.

Later during the interview, Joe Budden also questioned Eminem’s place in top 10 greatest rappers of all time: “I don’t know if Eminem is on there. He changed the game but that’s not an argument for me. It has not aged. I think only his classics remained classics and for me it’s his first album and The Marshall Mathers LP.”

Snoop Dogg calls Eminem “The Larry Bird Of Hip Hop”

According to west coast legend Snoop Dogg, the fellow Detroit icon Eminem is hip hop’s Larry Bird. Snoop has recently made an appearance on Know Mercy podcast with Stephen A. Smith and compared the legendary basketball player and Slim Shady during their long conversation.

Larry Bird is a legend in the NBA as he is on majority of people’s list of Top 10 players in history of the game. Although not the most athletic, Larry was known for his killer instinct, elite shooting, and epic trash-talk.

“He’s like Larry Bird cuz. Remember when ni***s used to act like ‘that’s white boy s**t’ then all of a sudden that motherf***er put 40 on your a**? Hey man, you know what, Larry Bird is a bad motherf***er man.” said Snoop.

Eminem and Larry Bird both have become legends even though people doubted them, and in that sense, Snoop’s comparison is quite valid. Em and Bird will both be remembered among the greatest ever when everything is said and done, and their talent and skill are what has helped them achieve that. There aren’t many basketball fans who would scant Larry Legend, and similarly, no hip hop fans would talk down too often on the Real Slim Shady.

Eminem and Snoop Dogg have recently collaborated on “From The D 2 The LBC,” a single from Eminem’s second greatest hits compilation album, “Curtain Call 2.” The two are also rumored to be on a track together again on Snoop and Dre’s upcoming album, called “Missionary,” which is set to be completed in November.

Elsewhere in the interview, the Long Beach legend talks about life as a gangbanger, the important advice he received behind bars, and the meeting with iconic producer Dr. Dre that changed his life.

Eminem cheers up Detroit Lions before the game against Seattle Seahawks

Geno Smith and Rashaad Penny were so good the Seattle Seahawks never needed their punter. Smith accounted for three touchdowns in the first half and Penny had a pair of long second-half scoring runs, helping Seattle hold off the Detroit Lions for a 48-45 win Sunday.

It was yet another high-scoring game for the Detroit Lions, who are averaging 35 points and giving up slightly more. They are the first team in NFL history to have scored and allowed a combined 281 points through the first four games of a season.

“We’re going to look at everything. I have a lot of faith in (defensive coordinator) Aaron Glenn. That’s why I hired him, but I think we need to take a deep dive on our defense from the coaching all the way down.” – said the coach Dan Campbell.

The Seahawks (2-2) were stopped on a third down late in the third quarter, but the Ford Field game clock wasn’t set properly. Seattle made the most out of the second chance and Detroit’s unorganized defense on Penny’s 36-yard touchdown run on a third-and-16, opening a 38-23 lead.

The Ford Field arena was cheered up by Eminem himself. Organizers showed a short clip of Eminem on the screen, in which the hip-hop legend shouts: “Detroit stand up! Lions, let’s go!” with “Without Me” playing in the background. Eminem’s “Higher” single from Music To Be Murdered By was also warning up players and supporters during the break times. Video of the week: Tech N9ne meets fake Eminem

In a new clip shared last week, Canadian comedian who goes by the name DTG, best known for his Eminem parodies, once again suits up as Eminem in his trademark zip jacket, white tee, baseball cap and gold chain ensemble.

Instead of his usual solo spoofs, fake Slim Shady runs into a few friends this time around, most notably Strange Music boss and one of the most lyrical rappers of all time, Tech N9ne.

“Yo! What the f**k? Em, what’s up, man?” Tech says as he greets DTG with a dap. He then proceeds to ask: “Damn, it’s been a minute. What you been up to?”

Instead of answering Tech’s question, Fake Eminem chooses to go in a rap battle. “You trying to rap right now?” he snaps back. And Tech replies: “Hey man, I been doing enough of that already.”

But DTG still spits his bars as Tech makes a silent getaway: “Red hoodie and red shoes/ If I ever get married, my best dude, guess who, yes you. / Alarm goes off in the morning I wake up, press snooze/ Right tight, left loose/ Yo, Tech, where’d you go, man?‘ C’mon. F**k!”

After realizing Tech has snuck off, tattooist Ryan “Newz” Scarpino and Strange Music rapper King Iso wade into the frame and dap “Eminem” up, after which he chases the pair and asks: “Y’all tryna rap?”

Shared by DTG on his Instagram account, he captioned the video with the following sentence: “Running into Eminem be like.” Among the comments, Tech hopped in to write: “Damn EM we suppose ta be BROTHAS!” Kuniva of D12, Daylyt and King Iso also commented laughing emojis.

Tony Yayo tells The Game to apologize Eminem & 50 Cent

Tony Yayo and Uncle Murda have recently sat down with Math Hoffa on the latest episode of My Expert Opinion where they talked about many topics, including Eminem and 50 Cent.

“Let’s stop b**ching in this industry. Ni**as are hoes. I’m tired of this s**t. You know ni**as are supposed to be respectful of who turned the lights on. Who did Em put on?! G-Unit, D12, Slaughterhouse, Joe Budden’s in them and Griselda. C’mon ni**a. Ni**as mad at white boy because he’s a black honkey player. C’mon ni**a! ‘Yo, HiS mUsIc DoN’t PlAy In ThE cLuB’ and that ain’t make him a GOAT? What happened to bars ni**a?!” said Yayo.

“I f**k with Eminem since “Renegade” and that ni**a put me on. He got respect from the hood since “Renegade.” Why do ni**as hate Eminem? Because he’s WHITE…At the end of the day, nobody in my hood, in my family, wore FREE YAYO shirt at the Grammys and looked out for me ni**a!” Yayo added.

Earlier in the interview, the G-Unit member told The Game in front of the camera to apologize to people who gave him the opportunities in his career and try to benefit from it: “Yo Game, apologize Fifty and Eminem. Yo, Buck apologize to Fifty. Banks you know what it is and we can go get this money. Let’s get couple of millions.”

Polo G & Skylar Grey react to “Last One Standing” with Eminem going gold

Skylar Grey, Polo G, Mozzy and Eminem’s “Last One Standing” single has been certified GOLD in the United States, meaning, the song has sold more than 500,000 units in the country.

“Last One Standing” serves as the official theme song to the 2021 Columbia Pictures movie, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, a sequel to the 2018 movie, Venom, based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. The song was released a day before the release of the movie.

It debuted at No. 78 on the US Billboard Hot 100, making it Skylar Grey’s first entry on the chart as a lead artist and Mozzy’s first overall entry on the chart. The accompanying lyric video to the song is presented as a duet between Venom and his offspring Carnage, discussing their respective hosts.

In the single, there is also a remix of Eminem’s song “Venom” from his album Kamikaze, which was the titular theme for the previous film and is double platinum in the United States.

Drunk woman sang Eminem’s “Love The Way You Lie” while burning her house down

A drunk woman live-streamed herself singing Eminem and Rihanna’s “Love The Way You Lie” lyrics as she sat on the sofa inside the blazing home she had purposefully torched, a court has heard.

28-year-old Katie Richardson, set her semi-detached home in Stockton alight in the early hours of 16 April, while her neighbor’s five children slept next door.

Speaking at a sentencing hearing at Teesside Crown Court on Tuesday 27 September, Prosecutor Tabitha Buck said: “They left the property and saw next door engulfed in flames. The windows were cracking, doors melting and they described the fire as being completely out of control.”

The court heard a woman then approached crews and showed them a Facebook Live of the defendant. It showed Richardson sitting on the sofa filming a dressing gown which was hung up on fire in her living room, singing “Love the Way You Lie” by Eminem featuring Rihanna.

Ms Buck said: “She was not doing anything about the fire instead she was singing Love The Way You Lie by Eminem featuring Rihanna, which has the lyric ‘watch me burn’.

Recorder Simon Richardson stood the case down before her mitigation as he wanted further information before sentencing her. The case will resume at 9:45am on Thursday 29 September.

Eminem receives backlash over ‘insensitive’ Jeffrey Dahmer lyrics after Netflix TV series

Eminem, Kesha, and Katy Perry have all come under fire over some song lyrics referencing the crimes of Jeffrey Dahmer after a hit new Netflix series put the serial killer back in the spotlight.

Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story stars American Horror Stories actor Evan Peters as the murderer and explores the 13 years he spent committing the crimes before his arrest in 1990. Viewers have been gripped by the mini-series, which shows how Dahmer got away with his crimes and how he was later found with body parts in his apartment, with evidence suggesting he had even eaten some of his victims.

While some are only just discovering the level of Dahmer’s depravity, he’s no stranger to Eminem who has referenced the serial killer in a number of songs.

In a song “Bagpipes from Baghdad,” from Relapse, Eminem raps: “With that Latin hunk Luis Miguel / Nick Cannon better back the f*** up… / Zap and Eric Clapton shaft brings Abba crunk… / I cut you like Dahmer, pull a butcher knife on ya.”

In a song “Must Be The Ganja,” which is also from Relapse album, Em raps: “Faced with a dilemma: I can be Dalai Lama / And be calm or bring drama, a step beyond of Jeffrey Dahmer.”

The track “Brainless” from The Marshall Mathers LP2, also features a reference to the famous serial killer: “Something’s wrong with my head / Just think if I had a brain in it, thank God that I don’t, ’cause I’d probably be Dahmer, ’cause mama always said / If you had a brain you’d be dangerous.”

Following the release of Relapse, Slim Shady explained: “I did find myself watching a lot of documentaries on serial killers. I mean, I always had a thing for them. Oh, that’s not twisted in itself at all, right? I’ve always been intrigued by them and I found that watching movies about killers sparked something in me… The way a serial killer’s mind works, just the psychology of them is pretty f*cking crazy. I was definitely inspired by that, but most of the album’s imagery came from my own mind.”

Venting their disgust over the references on social media, many music fans said it was “disgusting” and “insensitive” to Dahmer’s victims and felt the artists should be held to account.

Math Hoffa, Esso, Mr. Mecc, Hynaken and Sean Bigga have recently sat down with Grafh and 38 Spesh on the latest episode of My Expert Opinion where the crew talked about the best diss tracks in history and this is where the discussion about The Game’s “The Black Slim Shady” started.

Mr. Mecc: Nobody talking about The Game’s diss-track because it was not good. We were talking about top 5. Why brining that record up?

Hynaken: Where does it rank? Maybe top 99? [Laughs]

Esso: I think the record is okay. I think its a little long for me to get into. I think the records duration is kind of long to listen to but it was okay.

Grafh: In my opinion as an emcee, if he took the dopest parts of the song and turn it into one verse it would have been a f**king smoker. He was some creative s**t and doing other s**t and made art out of this s**t. I ain’t mad it was an idea. Third verse was stupid, its crazy. Fourth was alright. Some other parts was cool too. If you took dopest parts and made one long verse ni**as be talking about that s**t. I think he was just trying to be creative.

Mr. Mecc: I think the part of the reason this track is not getting a conversation is because, every diss-track has a story behind it, this diss-track kinda came out nowhere. Like, why do you have a problem with Eminem after all this time? Em has not even addressed it.

Dr. Dre reacts to Rihanna headlining Super Bowl 2023, fans want Riri to bring out Eminem

Rihanna has been announced as the performer at next year’s Super Bowl LVII halftime show and the legendary producer Dr. Dre has some advices to a Billionaire mega star.

Yesterday, Rihanna confirmed via her Instagram she would be following in Dre’s footsteps as the headliner of the NFL’s biggest event of the year.

The Aftermath founder has recently talked with Ebro Darden on Apple Music’s Beats 1, where he spoke about the big news: “Oh, my God. Let me tell you something, man. I actually just got the news that Rihanna’s going to do it and I am a super fan of Rihanna. I can not wait to see what she is going to do.” said Dre.

Then he continued: “I just like her and what she does and her get down and how she approaches her artistry and the whole nine. It is fantastic. She] has the opportunity to really blow us away. I know we set the bar extremely high.”

Dre also offered some advice. “Put the right people around you and have fun. That is basically what it is. Making sure you have the right creative people around you. All of these people came through for me and everybody was extremely enthusiastic about the show. We had a good time, although it is a lot of things and a lot of people you have to depend on. So it is an extreme amount of pressure, but it is fun at the same time. When it is done, it is like goosebumps, bro. I got goosebumps, especially from the reaction that we got from the show, and especially being able to do the show with all of my friends.”

Dr. Dre’s Pepsi Super Bowl LVI halftime show performance in February, which featured Eminem, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Mary J. Blige and Anderson .Paak, won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Variety Special (Live) earlier this month.

Eminem & Royce 5’9″ send condolences to Pat Stay family & friends in a new video

Earlier this month, the hip-hop world was shocked by the news from Fairfax as battle rapper Pat Stay was stabbed to death in Nova Scotia.

The stabbing occurred at 12:36 AM on the 1600 block of Lower Water Street, according to reports. Stay was then taken to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at just 36 years old. While Halifax Regional Police hadn’t publicly identified Stay as the victim of the stabbing, his brother, Peter, came forward to confirm his passing to CBS News.

Eminem paid tribute to the late Pat Stay on social media, calling him one of the greatest of all time. While Royce highlighted his personality. “Hip Hop lost one of the best battlers of all time. RIP Pat Stay … KINGS NEVER DIE!!” wrote Eminem on Twitter. “R.I.P. Pat Stay. He was a GREAT man…” said Royce.

About an hour ago Classified Hiphop shared a new video clip of Eminem and Royce 5’9” sending condolences to Pat’s family and friends with the caption: “Wanna give a big thanks to Royce Da 5’9″ and Eminem for sending us these two videos to play at Patstay’s Benefit today. We all knew Pat was the Best at what he did but when you hear it from two legends like this it just makes you even more proud. I really wish Pat was here to see the outpouring of love he has been getting. I wish I could talk to Pat and see the reaction on his face after seeing the love he has been getting from guys he’s looked up to for so long. Rip.”

In the video clip, Eminem says: “Yo I just wanna send out my condolences out to Pat Stay’s family and friends. Bro, I know we never got a chance to meet but I’ve been huge fan of yours for years and the level that you rap to is like a pinnacle to battle rap. It does not get any higher than a level that you rapped at. I just wanna say that we gonna miss you bro. Hip-hop is gonna miss you. We lost a legend.”

“I just want to take the opportunity to say my deepest condolences to the Pat Stay’s family. I don’t even know if I could put in words how great of a man that I felt he was. Aside from being an amazing rapper I had an honor and privilege to be able to be in somewhat personal relationship with the man. That’s pretty rare to be able to do this in business, especially when you do two different things as a person. The way they kinda used to split up battle rappers versus ‘industry rappers’.” said Royce.
