Mobb Deep’s Havoc reveals his reaction when he saw “Shook Ones” beat in Eminem’s 8 Mile movie

Legendary hip-hop duo, Mobb Deep’s Havoc, was recently interviewed by HipHopDX magazine where he talked about an iconic track “Shook One’s, Part II” being used in Eminem‘s 8 Mile movie’s rap battle scene against Papa Doc.

“I mean, I was really taken back because I didn’t even know that, if Eminem was a fan, you know what I mean? So to hear that and I found out he was a fan and then ching-ching sound [getting money] went off in my head…I bought this Fendi sweater [Laughs].” said Havoc.

“Shook Ones (Part II)” is being played in the opening scene of 8 Mile when main character B-Rabbit, portrayed by Eminem, is preparing for his battle. An instrumental version of the song is played as the beat for the final battle of the film as well. It also appears on the intro of the Season 2 premiere episode “Soul Brother #1” of the Marvel-Netflix TV Show Luke Cage, in which Luke Cage disrupts a Drug Operation that was peddling a drug named after him. We can also hear it in the 2005 video games Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories in the in-game radio station The Liberty Jam and in True Crime: New York City and in NBA 2K13 and NBA 2K18.

“Shook Ones (Part II)” is the lead single from Mobb Deep’s 1995 album called The Infamous and it is a sequel to 1994 promotional single “Shook Ones”, with similar lyrics, but less profanity. In 1997, the song was sampled by Mariah Carey in her single “The Roof (Back in Time)“. For its single remix, Mobb Deep recorded additional raps and also appeared in the music video made for the single.

The song is recognized as one of the greatest hip-hop songs of all time by music critics. It is also certified gold single in the United Kingdom and Denmark.

50 Cent tells Jimmy Kimmel why Eminem didn’t pursue movie career after “8 Mile”

Yesterday, 50 Cent visited Jimmy Kimmel where the two talked about going to Florida to do color commentary for the Holyfield fight, his nine-year-old son Sire’s birthday and taking him to a candy store, playing video games together, all of the different shows he’s producing, working with Eminem and Snoop Dogg on “BMF” for Starz, and his theory about Nicki Minaj’s cousin’s friends balls.

“I persuaded Eminem to come up on BMF. I actually directed the episode that he is in. I called him. I put pressure on him.” said Fifty

Later few seconds, Jimmy asked: “He did 8 Mile movie. It was huge hit and he was great in it. And then he was like ‘okay that’s it I’m done.’ why?”

On which Fiddy replied: “I think he had terrible experience on 8 Mile project cause he just didn’t wanna go back again, ever again. There was period when Hollywood would offer me things to get Eminem cause agent would go like ‘yeah this is good go give it to 50 and then him.’ I offered him 8 million dollars for one project, he looked at it and he was like ‘I think we should do the movie like Warriors.’ and I’m like ‘did you just missed 8 million dollars thing?’ and then he says ‘lets just go and record records man.'”

Battle rappers discuss why “8 Mile” was huge success but “Bodied” flopped

In a recent episode of their show “My Expert Opinion“, Math Hoffa and Ms Fit talk about the rap battle movies, including Eminem‘s 2002 classic “8 Mile” movie and 2017  battle rap movie “Bodied” which was produced by Eminem.

The crew had some huge praise for Eminem’s “8 Mile” while calling “Bodied” a failure. They said that “8 Mile” felt more real, gritty, and somehow inspired by Eminem’s real-life story.

While Bodied, the 2017 battle rap comedy-drama film directed by Joseph Kahn, somehow didn’t connect to the streets. The movie flopped at the box office as it only made $100k, after being made from a budget of $15 million.

Math Hoffa gives his opinion on “Bodied” and said that it was an exaggerated version of “8 Mile”.

Roxy Shahidi says Eminem’s “8 Mile” changed her life

In a recent interview, Emmerdale’s Leyla actress Roxy Shahidi says Eminem’s “8 Mile” movie changed her life.

While talking about, her co-star Jonny McPherson, Roxy Shahidi said:

“He goes on about how I do not know anyone famous from beyond the noughties. There was a line in the script about Margot Robbie and I said, “Is she in Emmerdale?” which he thought was hilarious. He goes on about how I do not know anyone famous from beyond the noughties.”

“But I do not watch a lot of TV or spend hours on social media. I am happy with a bit of Santana or Madonna on my Spotify, and Eminem’s 8 Mile changed my life.”

Halsey to make a movie inspired by Eminem’s “8 Mile”

A movie about a pop singer Halsey’s life has been in the works for three years now but it was delayed cause she fell in love with Alev Aydin, a screenwriter who was supposed to write the movie.

Back in 2018, Deadline reported that Sony Pictures closed a life rights deal with the singer/songwriter to develop a film loosely based on her life, inspired by Eminem’s “8 Mile” movie with Halsey starring as herself.

As Alev and Halsey’s relationship strongly developed, now the reports say the shooting will start at the end of this year.

Sony hopes the movie acts as a launchpad for Halsey’s career, similar to what 8 Mile did for Eminem. If you’re familiar with 8 Mile and Halsey, this might sound like a stretch. But, along with their respectively troubled pasts, Halsey and Eminem seem to share a disdain for the mainstream while existing within it.

Seth Rogen reveals he auditioned for Eminem’s “8 Mile” but failed badly

In a chapter from his upcoming book Yearbook, Seth Rogen revealed that he auditioned for the role of Cheddar Bob, the friend of Eminem’s Rabbit character from Oscar-winning 8 Mile movie, who infamously shoots himself in the leg with his own gun during a scuffle.

Seth Rogen auditioned twice for the film after his first attempt proved unsuccessful due to the casting director not liking the “rappery” dialogue. He was asked to come back and bring someone to do the audition with him. That friend was Jason Segel, who was also auditioning to play Cheddar Bob.

“We asked our agents if our auditions could be scheduled one right after the other, so that one of us could audition for Cheddar, with the other reading the Rabbit part, and then we’d switch. We had a sleepover at my apartment the night before the auditions so we could rehearse and then carpooled to the audition together.” Rogen told the Insider magazine.

Rogen read for Cheddar first, then Segel. However, Rogen couldn’t stop breaking character and laughing at the delivery of the lines.

“Yo, yo, muthaf**ka! It’s Chedda! What up, bitch!” Segel said, delivering Rabbit’s lines off-screen. Rogen, responding as Cheddar said: “Yo, yo, Rabbit! You gotta record your s**t at Paisley Park, yo!”

“I started laughing hysterically. And so did Jason. We literally couldn’t make it through the auditions. As soon as one of us started the scene, the other would lose it…It was so silly, we couldn’t finish. We just excused ourselves and saw ourselves out, tears streaming down our faces.” said Rogan.

In the end, the role of Cheddar Bob went to Evan Jones. Rogen and Eminem would later end up crossing paths with one another in the 2009 film, titled Funny People and later in 2014, The comedy movie, The Interview, also starring James Franco.

Anthony Mackie says after “8 Mile” he was offered way too many gangster roles

Anthony Mackie has recently sat down with Jemele Hill for a new interview where the Hollywood superstar talked about working on Eminem’s movie ‘8 Mile,‘ revealing he was offered too many gangster and rapper roles afterwards:

“After 8 Mile, I was offered every rapper, every gangster in every movie and then there were certain movies that I wanted to audition for that my reps were like, ‘After doing 8 Mile, I don’t think you should do that. So it was a conscious decision on their part that became a conscious decision on my part. Early in my career, I would say six times out of 10, the roles that I was auditioning for were written for white dudes. When I auditioned for Hurt Locker, Hurt Locker was written for a white dude, 8 Mile wasn’t even written.” said Anthony Mackie.

Hopsin makes Eminem’s “8 Mile” reference in his new music video

Yesterday, Hopsin returned with a new single called “Alone With Me,” a track that finds him exploring the inner darkness and having a brutally honest conversation with himself.

In the song, Hop references Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole and Joyner Lucas with the following lines:

Be honest, you live in the shadow of Joyner Lucas
Jealous? I know that you are, my point is proven
F**k happened to you?
You was spittin’ so cold, you was the “Ill Mind of Hopsin” on the list with the GOATs
Then you fell off, you should’ve took a different approach
I hate to say it, but you’ll never be like Kendrick or Cole

Eminem fans also noticed that Hop is referencing Eminem’s “8 Mile” at one point of the music video. Check out the post below:

[Hopsin – Alone With Me] Was this part in the vc a reference to Eminem? I mean, he kinda makes the same movements as Em does in the 8 Mile battles. I know Hopsin & Eminem respect each other though. Thoughts? from r/Eminem
