In “Where We’re From” documentary Otherwize remembers beating Eminem at Rap Olympics 1997

Back in 1997, Eminem participated in the Rap Olympics during the Rap Sheet convention at the Red Lion Hotel in Los Angeles where he went all the way to the final, up against Otherwize who eventually took the  crown.

The infamous face-off is now part of the new documentary titled Where We’re From: Rise of LA Underground Hip Hop that was produced by Element co-founders DJ Breeze and DJ Bonds who were both instrumental in establishing the underground Hip Hop scene.

In a new interview with HHDX, DJ Breeze said: “Eminem held his own as well. The battle with Wize had to go extra rounds because these dudes were going at it. The battle had also a slight racial overtone to it. Obviously ’cause there were few white rappers at the time. So it definitely started to take on the feel of Black versus white. I will say this, the battle between those two guys was phenomenal. It had to go extra rounds because at one point it just seem like they were so evenly matched.”

“Even though you could feel the crowd wanting Otherwize to win, you couldn’t deny Eminem skill set. But I do feel confidently 100 percent that Otherwize did win the battle. Did he blow them out of the water? No, he did not. But he did win. It also adds a kind of lore to Otherwize’s name considering Eminem bought all the footage so nobody could see the battle.”

Dog The Bounty Hunter says he thought he was allowed to use the N-word “like Eminem”

Duane Chapman, also knows as Dog The Bounty Hunter has just addressed the allegations that he is a racist.

During an interview with Kevin Frazier of Entertainment Tonight, the reality star defended himself against the accusations, saying: “I have never been a racist. I am 33% percent Apache. I thought I had a pass in the Black tribe to use it, kind of like Eminem.”

“I had just gotten out of prison in 1979 after spending 18 months in Texas, and it was probably three-quarters from the Black tribe. So, that was a word that we used back and forth as maybe a compliment. I have more Black friends than Eminem. That is the proximity argument. ‘I have lots of Black friends, so that should make me okay with Black people.’“

Royce 5’9″ reacted on Instagram by sharing the video with the caption: “Excuse me? Well…. On behalf of the “Black Tribe” I’d like to say that we REBUKE you, Satan. You’re hilarious tho… If that’s any consolation.”

John Cena wants to write WWE anthem with Eminem

Legendary WWE wrestler John Cena has told Esquire that he would gladly write an anthem with Eminem.

Question: A fan took your theme song and did Eminem remix, if you were to do this for real, which Eminem verse would you use?

John Cena: I would simply have him write a verse because he’s one of the most gifted prolific poets I’ve ever had a chance to listen to. And I think if you give him this music rather than rehashing something he made for specific beat I would like to think he would completely put me to shame by giving his own Eminem touch so Em if you are down to write some bars, borrow the track, here is a catchy tune (sings). I don’t know, think about it, mull it over, get back to me or don’t get back to me. Whatever.

Swifty McVay slams Charlamagne & Joe Budden for discrediting Eminem

D12’s Swifty McVay has recently chatted with Hip Hop XXIV where the Detroit legend and the interviewer talked about Charlamagne Tha God discrediting Eminem by his comments about Verzuz.

“Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. You can’t battle with a man’s opinion but alot of people use ‘this is my opinion’ as an excuse to sneak diss too. Charlamagne’s favorite rapper of all time is Ghostface Killah for being lyrical and if you acknowledge him for being a lyrical monster as well as other rappers you gotta acknowledge Eminem. To me, Tekashi and them are rappers but not lyrical monsters and to say that he’ll get washed by people who are not lyrical monsters and he knows to be a lyrical monster is one of the highest praises of hip-hop, it seems like he just don’t wanna give it up because of the certain reason. I don’t know what reason but in my opinion he wants to take little bit of that power away because of other reasons. That’s my opinion to his opinion. He knows deep down inside that Eminem would not get washed. He was talking it little bit too far in my eyes.”

“My thing is, fans decide who’s the greatest out here and if you got majority of the world saying that Eminem is the GOAT and you got these podcasters trying to take the power away it has to be another reason.. I think Joe Budden went too far as well. He went overkill when he was talking to his audience how whack he thought Eminem’s album was. He knew deep down in his mind that it was for the ratings as well. That s**t is not my cup of tea.”

“To be honest, I could be wrong, but in my opinion I don’t think Eminem will ever do Verzuz. I don’t think anybody is worthy to do Verzuz with Em. There might be couple of people out there I can think of but I don’t think he will do it. There is too many people out here who just don’t wanna give him respect he deserves because of the color of the skin. Give this man his flowers. He takes his crab seriously and he gives you all what these forefathers birthed and taught us to give lyricism, syllables, wordplay and you got these people discrediting him because they know deep down inside they can’t bring the level of lyricism that Eminem brings so they discredit his lyricism to compensate for them not being able to do it so they can be respected for not doing it.”

Grip talks about his new album, shares best advice from Eminem

GRIP has recently talked with Mike Boyd where the two discussed his new album ‘I Died For This!?’, advice from Eminem, and Grip’s proudest moment.

East Atlanta rapper goes on to talked about his personal self-growth and what it took to get to where he is now. He also revealed some of his favorite lines from the project.

Shady Records latest signee even talked about bending genres and why he decided to put a rock-influenced song on the album.

As far as the best advice he received from Eminem, Grip said: “He said, when he started out in this s**t he was kinda of worried if he had the “it” factor and he told me, don’t worry, it will come to you. The story abut him and Royce being drunk as f**k back in the days and he wakes up and his hair is blonde as f**k and it became a thing. And to see how iconic he is today and me being a kid it was like ‘this s**t crazy!’. Hearing backstory from the man himself. So the best advice I got was to not force s**t and to be yourself. You will be cool, you will be good.

50 Cent says Eminem’s verse on “EPMD 2” inspired him to make music again

50 Cent hasn’t been that active since he has been involved in TV business. He recently appeared on People in 10 for a new interview, where was asked about the one thing that continues to inspire him to make music.

“When Em does that stands out to me, that is special. Like he just had a performance on Nas’s album, recently came out, it made me want to record again. Because of my connection to it, and he sounded so good on the record that I was like ‘y’all gotta write something. I gotta go sit down and just write something, so I feel like I’m still in it. Even though If I didn’t share it with the general public, it forced me back into the writing, to go to the studio and record something.”

50 Cent also reveals he has other shows that he wants Eminem to participate in. “Em’s a different animal, you can’t really move him with money,” added Curtis. 50 Cent recently revealed that Eminem is all set to make a guest cameo in his show “BMF” as White Boy Rick.

50 Cent also reveals that if he texts Em right now for a collaboration, he would say yes, but it’s probably not happening.

New Song: Grip – “Walkthrough!” ft. Eminem

Grip has just released his Shady Records debut album “I Died For This!?” and a song “Walkthrough!” featuring Eminem came with it, produced by Eminem and MTK.

As fans expected, the song is bar-heavy, demonstration of technical skill, already regarded as the best Eminem verse since “Lord Above” by Fat Joe.

In the song, Eminem gives same kind of advice to GRIP as he gave Drake on a song “Zeus.” The Detroit legend raps: “GRIP, hold on to this moment / ‘Cause soon as you reach the top, they gon’ want you to fall from it / So you better grab your seatbelt / Like I did mine, and fasten yours / Like a motherf***ing plane-crash passenger / ‘Cause one day you’ll be crashing back to earth
And if you don’t ever stop to smell the roses / I do know one thing, that’s for sure / You don’t get your flowers ’til you pushin’ up daisies / And that’s about all your ashes earn.”

“We all got excited about GRIP after we heard ‘Snubnose.’ It was really refreshing to hear a new artist so focused on making a conceptual project and it caught my attention.” told Eminem to Complex magazine.

Eminem gives high praise to Grip, reveals which project caught his attention

In a new interview with Complex, Eminem talked about his latest Shady Records signee, GRIP.

“We all got excited about GRIP after we heard Snubnose. It was really refreshing to hear a new artist so focused on making a conceptual project and it caught my attention.”

“It’s definitely great when artists we sign connect with a larger audience, and 50 Cent is a perfect example of that. Obviously we want anyone who signs with Shady to succeed. But first and foremost we’ve always focused on the raw talent and ability of the artist as an MC. We’ve always been pretty clear on that being the main thing we look for: high level fundamental skills and mechanics are definitely the priority.”

“It’s really important in a creative collaboration for there to be that personal connection for it to succeed. Shady is a boutique label and we don’t sign a lot of artists, so we have a chance to get involved at a deeper level with the ones we do. And I think that goes both ways. I like to be motivated by the artists we sign and I want to feel pushed by their creativity as well.”

“The people we sign have a point of view and vibe that made us want to work with them in the first place. Part of our job is to help them get out to a bigger audience but also I don’t like to insert myself where I’m not needed. I am looking to find where and how I can get involved that adds to or builds on what the artist is already doing.” says Eminem.
