Michael Jackson’s Ex-Bodyguard Reveals His Reaction to Eminem’s “Just Lose It” Diss Posted on May 23, 2026 By Remy Gelenidze A fresh interview with Michael Jackson’s former bodyguard, Matt Fiddes, has shed light on the King of Pop’s calm reaction to being parodied by Eminem in the infamous 2004 “Just Lose It” music video. Speaking with the Art Of Dialogue, Fiddes revealed that despite the video’s highly mocking nature, Jackson remained surprisingly unfazed by the public disrespect. The interview also touched on the legendary and often misunderstood music catalog acquisition that linked the two superstars’ financial futures. Advertisement Fiddes described a scene of total composure when the music video first made waves on television. “When Eminem dissed him in that music video, Michael was really calm about it. We could not believe it. Michael was not upset. He just stayed really calm. Didn’t say much. And we found out later that he bought all of Eminem’s songs. So, every time Eminem wanted to play a song he had to pay Michael Jackson the fee or Michael could block it.” Fiddes recounted. Mark said to Michael ‘are you going to sue Eminem?’ He said ‘it’s okay, don’t worry about it.’ He said it’s a shame cause he liked Eminem’s music. He used to play Eminem’s music a lot. I think Eminem thinks it was a mistake and he wished he never did it. He wished he made peace with Michael Jackson before Michael passed away.” Fiddes continued. While Fiddes’ recollection emphasizes Jackson’s personal composure, the financial retaliation he references requires important clarification. Michael Jackson did not directly write a check to purchase Eminem’s music catalog as a personal slight. Instead, the acquisition was a corporate move made by Sony/ATV, a massive music publishing joint venture in which Jackson owned a 50% stake. In 2007, Sony/ATV purchased Famous Music LLC from Viacom, a deal that included the rights to a massive portion of Eminem’s early catalog, alongside music by Shakira, Akon, and Björk.
