Conway talks ‘God Don’t Make Mistake’ album, Shady Records, working with Kanye West & more

During a trip to Los Angeles, Pierce from Complex news caught up with Conway The Machine prior to his show at Regent Theater, where they talked about Shady Records upcoming Shady Records debut album, working with Kanye West on Donda, Lil Wayne and Rick Ross collaboration and much more.

About features on God Don’t Make Mistakes

“[Pierce: You got features from Beanie Sigel to Andersoon .Paak to Jill Scott, lots of features on this album] A lot of these features come from the relationships I have built with these people and I’m not the type of guy to use that as a personal gain. I just f**k with you, I f**k with you.”

About securing collaborations with Lil Wayne and Rick Ross

“I gotta thank 2 Chainz for that. He’s my dude. I got reached out by Wayne, Campbell and them ni**as but they told me ‘Yo 2 Chainz now is playing me your s**t. I love it. I f**k with your s**t.’ But I had never met 2 Chainz. Never had a conversation with him. It’s just ill to now that these dudes still do s**t like that. And after that I was like ‘let me hit these ni**as, like I got something for you.’ Wayne sent the verse probably same night or next morning. After that I was like ‘send that s**t to Rozay’ just jokingly around and Rozay sent that s**t back next morning. That’s more than a feature for me. That’s acknowledgement.

About working with Kanye West on Donda album

“Ye hit me up…We (Griselda) did a show before 2020, before pandemic. He didn’t come to the show but he invited us to the Sunday Service, so we went there and we saw each other. We wanted us to meet and talk and we were just kicking it. And then Kanye was like ‘we should just go now and record some music. you all are here and lets just go and do something.’ So we ended up to his ranch. At first, studio sessions were different for me. I didn’t really grow up in a church. I’m used to studio sessions with my homies around, smoking and drinking with ni**as. You got ladies over there and ni**as smoking over there. And this one was like no smoking, no drinking, no nothing, you can’t even have your f**king cell-phone up in there. At the end of the day, I was just happy and blessed to be even welcomed in that man’s atmosphere. I’m forever grateful.”

About Shady Records

“There is no issues with Shady Records. I’m just thankful man, I’m blessed. I appreciate everybody at Shady Records. From top on down, Eminem, Paul, Tracy, Mike H and the whole building. I’ve never had an issue and I do not have issues now. If that’s where my journey in life take me, doing more business with Shady then I’m with that too. After this album, my contractual obligations will be fulfilled and whatever comes after that I’m gonna accept it and be thankful.”

Matthew Hughes, man who broke into Eminem’s house twice, violates probation

Matthew Hughes, a man twice convicted of breaking into Eminem’s homes is in legal trouble again after he violated his probation by failing to show up for a probation appointment. It was also reported that Hughes assaulted a mall security officer in the southeastern Michigan.

Matthew pleaded guilty to Macomb County Circuit Court for failing to show up for the appointment of September’s probation but pleaded not guilty to the the assault charge.

The parole violation occurred just days after Hughes was sentenced to probation after serving almost two years in jail for breaking into Eminem’s home in Clinton Township back in April 2020 and telling him he was there not to steal anything but to kill the Detroit legend.

Eminem, who was home at the time, managed to get Hughes to go outside, where security guards detained him until the police arrived and took the intruder to the police department.

Eleven months before that incident, Hughes entered another property in Rochester Hills in search of Eminem things didn’t go as planned. He was sentenced to three months in jail after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge of making an illegal entry.

LL Cool J & Eminem – “Rock The Bells” (Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, HBO Max, Live)

October with the return of an in-person Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, Cleveland was beautiful back in October. And today it is finally finally available to be viewed by the worldwide masses via HBO Max.

Jay Z, Tina Turner, Carole King, the Go-Go’s, Foo Fighters and Todd Rundgren were recognized as performers; Kraftwerk, Charley Patton, and Gil Scott-Heron as early influences; LL Cool J, Billy Preston, and Randy Rhoads for general musical excellence; and Clarence Avant for the creative Ahmet Ertegun Award.

One of the biggest highlights of the night was when LL Cool J started performing “Rock The Bells” and Eminem hit the stage to rap along his idol.

You can enjoy the performance below:

LL Cool J & Eminem – Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame (Rehearsal)

For his highly anticipated Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction, legendary hip-hop artist LL Cool J amped up the energy in Cleveland considerably, thanks to a career-spanning set which featured another icon from Detroit, Eminem.

LL started off his set with a banger, going into 1987’s “Go Cut Creator Go,” from “Bigger And Deffer” album.

After a bit of 1988’s “Going Back to Cali,” surprise guest Slim Shady nonchalantly walked onstage to perform “Rock the Bells” with his idol. LL and Eminem performed like they were in a rap battle, trading lyrics on the song with no-holds-barred ferocity.

Before we upload the official Hall Of Fame performance, you can watch the rehearsal video below, featuring Eminem and Dr. Dre:

Comedian Bobby Lee recalls working with Eminem on “We Made You”

Back in 2009, Eminem released music video of “We Made You” from Relapse album which featured cameos from 50 Cent, Dr. Dre, Oxen, Lisa Ann and Bobby Lee among others.

Comedian Bobby Lee has recently set down with Steve-O’s Wild Ride where he recalled how he ended up on Eminem’s music video.

“One time I was in a Korean restaurant with my girlfriend and this Korean guy comes up to me and he was like ‘hey dude, I like your comedy, I’m director, you wanna do music videos?!’ and I don’t know what it was but I gave my number. So a week later, that dude texted me: ‘tomorrow, music video, Eminem and Dr. Dre!’,  I was like, WHAT?!”

“He gave me an address, I show up and next thing I know I’m in a f**kin van with Dr. Dre and Marshall, Eminem! And I’m doing one of their music videos. It’s called ‘We Made You.’ This guy was a f**king director of Eminem’s music video.” said Bobby.

TONIGHT! LL Cool J & Eminem’s Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame performance on HBO

Last month LL Cool J was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the legendary rapper did not leave without bringing his friends onstage.

Dr. Dre inducted LL Cool J with lots of praise and playful jokes during his speech and Eminem performed “Rock The Bells” with his childhood idol.

Marshall even left a fanboy note to LL on his social media, saying: “16 years old Marshall is so proud- congrats L!”

Tonight, the performance airs on HBO Max. It was announced by Eminem himself on social media with the caption: “Rock The Bells with the GOAT, tonight on HBO Max.”

Eminem Presents: The Re-Up goes platinum in UK

Shady Records’ compilation album, Eminem Presents: The Re-Up, which was released in 2006, goes platinum in the United Kingdom, selling 300,000 units in the country.

The album began as a street mixtape project but in one of the interviews, Eminem said: “But what happened is that the material was so good and the tracks were getting produced like a regular album. Instead of putting it out there rough and unfinished, I thought we should add some other new tracks, make it a real album, and put it in the record stores to give these new artists a real boost.”

The Re-Up’s album cover art was drawn by Eminem himself and portraits all Shady/Aftermath artists.

The album is also certified platinum in the United States and double platinum in New Zealand.
