Original Stan reacts on Pete Davidson & Eminem’s SNL parody

Saturday Night Live delivered one of the show’s funniest sketches over the years with a parody of Eminem‘s 2000 hit song “Stan,” featuring Dido and SNL managed to surprise fans with a cameo from the legendary rapper himself along with comedian Pete Davidson.

Eminem was approached a couple of days in advance by SNL to see if he was available and it worked out for him to do it. It came together really quickly,” a source told to Entertainment Online.

The same magazine spoke with Devon Sawa, an actor who played Stan’s role in Eminem’s original music video, on Monday, while he was promoting his upcoming horror film Hunter Hunter, and he revealed how much he enjoyed the SNL sketch and praised Pete Davidson’s performance in recreating the Stan character into Stu.

I do not think I have smiled so much in a long time,” says Devon Sawa. “I think Pete Davidson nailed it. Some people do not see some of the things that I saw. He did everything from the pencil blow to certain eyerolls. He really kind of copied me perfectly but also did his own thing and spun it his own way and I am very flattered that I was in a music video that is lasted so long.

Someone tweeted me, ‘Are you watching SNL right now?’ and somebody else tweeted that they were doing a ‘Stan’ parody, and my first reaction was, ‘Oh no, are they ripping it apart?’ But it is just funny. It is just they took the song, twisted it, and Pete Davidson is a talented dude.

Eminem talks how skilled and talented artist Juice WRLD was

1 year ago today, in 2019, we lost one of the most talented rappers from the new generation — Juice WRLD.

Earlier this year, Eminem set down with Kxng Crooked for a lengthy interview where the two talked about many things, including Juice.

Shout out to Juice WRLD, man. That kid was so talented. His freestyle that he did on Tim Westwood where he rapped for 1 hour…I was like, WHAT THE F**K. The way he was freestyling…That’s the s**t that we used to try to do at the Hip-Hop Shop. It was like, we were working on freestyles but to be able to slip in and out of written when you need to…You got a certain punchline to take out this dude.” says Eminem.

“And to be so young. He mastered that so f**king quickly. It’s really sad…His potential was so off the charts.” – adds Eminem

Watch the interview below:

Eminem and late rapper Juice WRLD team up for the first time on “Godzilla” earlier this year. It marks the first collaboration between Juice and Em. Juice had previously named Eminem as one of his biggest influences in numerous interviews. He also freestyled almost an hour over different Eminem beats on Tim Westwood. You can check all of those stories here.

“Godzilla” also serves as Juice WRLD’s first posthumous release since his passing on December 8, 2019 – exactly six days after his 21st birthday. Juice reportedly recorded the chorus for the track before his untimely death, although he was unable to complete his actual verse for the song in time. Revisit the track below:

Scientists say Eminem rapping about mental health may help reduce depression stigma

Scientists and researchers from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill analyzed the lyrics of the twenty five top-performing rap and hip-hop records in the United States in 1998, 2003, 2008, 2013 and 2018.

Results revealed the proportion of rap songs that referenced mental health more than doubled over the 2 decades, with chart-topping artists like Eminem and Lil Wayne alluding to depression, anxiety and suicide.

The music’s release coincides with a rise in suicide among Black teenagers, who make up a “significant portion of rap music’s large and growing audience”, according to the scientists.

Although it is unclear how this music may influence a listener’s mental health, the scientists’ team hope mainstream records referencing emotional struggles may help reduce the stigma around issues like depression.

Out of the total 125 songs analyzed, 35 (28%) referenced anxiety, while 28 (22%) alluded to depression. 8 (6%) of the songs referenced suicide, while 26 (21%) used a mental health metaphor, like “fighting my demons” or “pushed to the edge.”

None of the most popular songs in 1998 mentioned suicide, compared to more than one in 10 (12%) in 2018, the year rap outsold country as the best-selling genre of music in the United States.

Over the study’s 20 years, depression references in rap music increased from 16% to 32%, while mental health metaphors rose from 8% to 44%.

Eminem makes cameo in Pete Davidson ’s Christmas ‘Stan’ parody on SNL

“Stan” was released almost two decades ago. And now the comedian Pete Davidson who is close friend of Machine Gun Kelly, parodied the song on “Saturday Night Live” by turning it into a twisted Christmas anthem, “Stu,” and Eminem himself makes the appearance.

With his hair bleached blond hair, Pete Davidson descended down some basement steps to write his letter to Santa Claus. Surrounded by lots of photos of jolly ole Saint Nick, he began, “Dear Santa, I can not believe the year is almost over, it is getting colder, I am a year older but I am still your soldier… the only thing keeping me alive, Dear Santa, please bring me a PS5.”

He continues: “I tried to buy one at Walmart, ran around the shop mall like Paul Blart, tried to find one for sale, but the thing is they are all out, yo, I even went to a Gamestop, but then I was like, ‘Oh wait stop,’ Santa Claus can make one, the man got his own workshop.”

Eminem’s “Stan” features a pop singer Dido singing the chorus, and Kate McKinnon took on that role in “Stu” video. Also Eminem and Sir Elton John famously performed the song the 43rd Annual Grammy Awards. Which is included in the “Stu” clip, as well.

“Stu is waiting for his surprise, to open up a PS5, he just really wants to play, “Assassin’s Creed” on Christmas Day, but he can not buy it himself because he lost his job because he was stealing from his boss, I would be worried, Stu is a scary guy / a scary guy,” McKinnon sang on chorus.

Yang’s verse went: “This year Christmas will be bad, cause Santa s**ks and Stu is sad. He already asked you really nicely and now he is really pissed off. I am just telling you cause I like you a lot. I am a big fan of Santa Claus and I also want a PS5, a PS5.”

The end of “Stu” video, Satna finally responds: “Dear Stu, I think you got the wrong address bro. I’m not Santa Claus, bye bye.”

Eminem made the appearance at the very end of the video, shown on the television screen in Pete Davidson’s basement. Eminem appeared in a holiday sweater, saying he received a PS5 even though he never asked for it: “I guess Shady must have been a good boy this year. Sorry Stu, you f**ed up.”

4 times Eminem and Jay Z collaborated on a song !

Today, legendary rapper Jay Z turns 51. To celebrate the birthday of one of the iconic figures in the hip-hop world, we have listed all the tracks Jay-Z and Eminem have collaborated throughout their decades-long career.

1. Jay Z – “Renegade,” featuring Eminem (produced by Eminem) [2001]

“Renegade” is a song from The Blueprint album by Jay-Z. Not only Eminem was the only guest rapper on the whole album, but he also produced the beat (originally for him and Royce Da 5’9″).

2. Jay Z – “8 Miles and Runnin'” featuring Freeway (produced by Eminem) [2002]

“8 Miles and Runnin'” is a song by Jay-Z from 8 Mile: Music from and Inspired by the Motion Picture album. It is produced by Eminem, and features Freeway, who at the time of this song was released, had just been signed to Roc-A-Fella Records. The name of the song “8 Miles and Runnin’” is shout out to the legendary song “100 Miles and Runnin’” by N.W.A.

3. Jay Z – “Moment of Clarity” (produced by Eminem) [2003]

“Moment of Clarity” is a track by Jay-Z from The Black Album. It is produced by Eminem and his long-time collaborator Luis Resto. We can assume Jay got this beat for free since on DJ Kay Slay’s 2003 freestyle, Eminem raps: “I’ve made beats for Jay-Z for free.

The song was surfaced online in late 2010. It was produced by Eminem and Dr. Dre and was recorded around late 2007 but it was never officially released. It was possibly intended for Eminem’s scrapped project titled King Mathers or Dr. Dre’s never released album DETOX. The actual name “My Syllables” was confirmed in an October 2008 interview with Quo where he says: “The song that featured Jay-Z is a song that Eminem’s putting on his album, called ‘My Syllables.'” For more details, read here. When the song surfaced online, it was just titled “Syllables.”

Nicky Jam says one of Eminem’s albums inspired him to make music

Hard Knock Tv’s Nick Huff Barili has recently set down with Latin trap and reggaeton artists Nicky Jam for in-depth interview where Nicky talks about his childhood and remembers both parents battling addiction.

Nicky also remembers listening to rap legends like Tribe Called Quest, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, LL Cool J and wanting to be like them.

At one point of the interview, Nicky was asked to pick three albums which embody who Nicky Jam is and that’s where Eminem’s name surfaces.

“I could say Jay Z’s album, Reasonable Doubt, Blueprint. And Eminem’s album The Marshall Mathers LP. They gave me the vibe that I would like to do. Reasonable Doubt, that album was just like speaking the truth in a nice way, making it sound so nice to hear. And Eminem cause, Eminem had no hair in his tongue. He would say anything. He was so good with words. All those albums made me to do albums.” says Nicky Jam.
