A new documentary titled The DOC, which the legendary rapper The D.O.C. produced himself and first-time film director Dave Caplan helmed, is telling Tracy Lynn Curry’s full story, from his humble beginnings in Dallas to his recent religious reawakening.
The film’s talking heads are a who’s who of hip-hop, including interviews with Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Tone Loc, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Too $hort, Xzibit, and on and on, as well as members of Curry’s family and his ex Erykah Badu.
The movie premiered few days ago in New York as part of the Tribeca Film Festival and it will be available for streaming soon.
The D.O.C. took a time to share a picture with Eminem and Dr. Dre on his Instagram to show the appreciation to every person who were involved in the project: “All of these amazing people did a fantastic job on what they’re calling the Hidden Gem at Tribeca!! Thank you all!”
Dr. Dre rarely posts on social media but when he does, it’s a special moment!
It’s the most special moment for west-coast rapper who goes by the name of Symba whose freestyle suddenly appeared on Dr. Dre’s Instagram page with the caption: “One of my new favorites.”
Symba responded back with the screenshot of Dr. Dre’s post, saying: “I’ve been learning from “The Goat” lately… Dr. Dre “One Of My New Favorites” WOW! “RESULTS TAKE TIME” coming soon. Love you Doc.”
Royce 5’9″ also showed support by commenting “electric plug” emoji and Aftermath producer Dem Jointz replied with fire emojis.
At 13 years old, Symba was known for being a talented local basketball player in the Bay Area, his hometown. However, he picked up another skill around the same time.
In 2017, he signed a deal with Columbia Records, but when things didn’t work out there because of a staff overhaul, he went independent in 2018. A year later, he landed another deal with a new label, signing with Atlantic Records in 2019. Capping off that year, he delivered the strong project Don’t Run From R.A.P.
Now the young rapper is dropping a new project, titled “RESULTS TAKE TIME.”
Back in 2014, Beats Electronics – the joint venture with Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine – was purchased by Apple but when news of the partnership leaked, it cost 200 million dollars and Tyrese Gibson is reportedly to blame.
In an excerpt obtained by iMore from the NY Times reporter Tripp Mickle’s new book, titled “After Steve: How Apple Became a Trillion-Dollar Company and Lost Its Soul,” the legendary producer and Tyrese Gibson’s infamous video where Dre declares to be “the first billionaire in Hip-Hop” caused Apple to cut $200 million from the initial $3.2 billion agreement.
In the excerpt we read: “It was a sum that Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre could barely fathom. As the lawyers worked through final details, Iovine summoned the leadership team of Beats to his home near Beverly Hills. He told everyone that they were on the cusp of finalizing a massive deal. The only thing that could spoil it would be for word of the deal to leak.”
“Iovine warned his team, “Whatever you do, don’t talk about this,” and even told Dre, “Remember that scene in Goodfellas where Jimmy tells the guys, ‘Don’t buy any furs. Don’t buy any cars. Don’t get showy’? Don’t move.”
However, the next morning, Diddy apparently called Jimmy Iovine informing him that Tyrese publicly shared a video of Dre celebrating the deal and his newly-minted status.
“At 2:00 a.m., Iovine got a call from Puff Daddy, who was screaming that Dre and Tyrese, a rapper, were talking about the deal in a Facebook video. Iovine pulled up the video and cringed as he saw Tyrese bragging about being drunk on Heineken in a recording studio. When word of the video reached to Apple’s CEO Tim Cook, he summoned Iovine and Dre to Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino. He invited them into a conference room for a private conversation. Iovine was anxious and afraid that Cook was going to kill the deal. He told the music executives that he was disappointed and wished that Dre’s social media outburst hadn’t happened but said that the video hadn’t shaken his conviction that buying Beats was right for Apple.”

According to Drink Champs host N.O.R.E., Kanye West thinks The Game should not have made comments about how he did more for the Compton rapper in two weeks than Dr. Dre in his entire career.
Last month, The Game was featured on N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN’s “Drink Champs” podcast. In more than four-hour long episode, the West-Coast rapper claimed: “Ye did more for me in the last two weeks, than Dre did for me my whole career.”
The latest episode of “Drink Champs” featured Snoop Dogg, N.O.R.E. asked Snoop his opinion about comments made by The Game but before taking Snoop’s answer, the show’s co-host revealed that he showed Ye the specific clip and he responded by saying: “I do not think Game should have said that.”
Snoop himself replied: “That is his personal experience. Kanye could have shown him something, Dre not really good at showing you nothing. He is basically good at bringing your talents to light, to where it is about you not what he do for you. I could not answer that, but Game is my little homie so I respect everything he say and do.”
A third solo record (not counting Compton) from Dr. Dre would have been just another laurel in his heavily feathered cap. Instead, the legendary producer embarked on creating a mythical Detox album, which he often called his “final project.”
During the last decade, Dre has worked on tracks with more than two dozen rappers, producers and vocalists, from Aftermath heavyweights like Eminem, Busta Rhymes, 50 Cent and Kendrick Lamar, to Snoop Dogg, T.I., Rick Ross, Lil Wayne and Kanye West – to name a few.
Most recently, Aftermath and Interscope Records have released a six song EP from Dr. Dre, all featured in the latest update of Grand Theft Auto: The Contract video game. The project features “Falling Up” with Thurz and Cocoa Sarai,” a solo track “Black Privilege,” “Gospel,” featuring Eminem. “Diamond Mind” with Nipsey Hussle and Ty Dolla $ign,” “ETA” with Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, and Anderson .Paak,” and “The Scenic Route,” featuring Rick Ross and Anderson .Paak.
It appears those GTA tracks were intended to be on DETOX album as Snoop Dogg has leaked a picture of the original tracklist of the album which are hard to decrypt but some of them are visible.
YOOOOOO! If you look in the background of the new pictures @SnoopDogg minted w/ him and Dre you can see the tracklist for Detox!! pic.twitter.com/QSpmBT8Pvi
2 Chainz has recently set down with NORE and DJ EFN for 3 hours long interview on the Drink Champs.
During the conversation, the Atlanta rapper recalled the studio session with legendary producer, Dr. Dre :
“I went to Dre’s crib. I was rapping and it was little funny cause I was getting little frustrated because, I don’t know, I’m country, I’m from Atlanta. At this time I told him, ‘Look, I’m not a white boy from Detroit. I ain’t f**king have like…Because he was stopping me like ‘Nah, change it.’ I’m trying to rap but he is so perfectionist. It’s the reason he is who f**king he is so I got that.” – said 2 Chainz.
“I’m somebody that can probably do two or three songs in one night. But with Dre it would probably take months because of the process and work ethic he has. He is so perfectionist on how he does things. I think my accent and my annunciation was a problem. He was trying to tell me how to do it. And I told him ‘You know I’m from Atlanta right? I’m not gonna sound like the bro you have been working with.”
N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN have shared a segment video of their interview with The Game on Drink Champs to promote the upcoming episode.
In a clip shared to Instagram, the Los Angeles rapper makes a very bold claim regarding his relationships with Dr. Dre and Kanye West.
In a preview clip, The Game says: “It is crazy that Ye did more for me in the last two weeks than Dre did for me my whole career.”
After dropping their collaborative single “Eazy” last month, The Game performed with Kanye West at his Donda 2 listening event in Miami last week.
After signing to Aftermath Entertainment, back in 2003, Dr. Dre executive produced Game’s 2004 debut album The Documentary which sold 586,000 in its first week in the United States and debuted at No. 1 on Billboard 200.
Dr. Dre also produced Game’s biggest hit songs “Hate It Or Love It” and “How We Do” which debuted at No. 2 and No. 4 on Billboard Hot 100 charts respectively. This was the only time Game appeared inside the Top 20 of Hot 100 charts.
Yet, Game thinks Ye did more for him. You can check the clip below:
To coincide with the Pepsi Super Bowl halftime show performance and the brand’s new wireless earbuds, Beats By Dre has released a new video featuring and narrated by Dr. Dre, titled “Dr. Dre is Made in LA,” featuring Snoop Dogg.
The video, which features Dr. Dre and archival footage of Anderson .Paak, Kayvon Thibodeux, Roddy Ricch, Serena Williams, Snoop Dogg and Vince Staples, also shows off the new Beats Fit Pro, the brand’s latest wireless earbuds.
The earbuds, which feature Apple’s H1 chip for easy AirPods-like connection with the company’s products, also include noise cancellation and sweat resistance, making them an AirPods Pro competitor for those looking for a high quality set of wireless earbuds.
Today we celebrate the birth of probably the most influential figures in the history of hip-hop: Dr. Dre, the living legend who turns 57.
Not only was he the first rap billionaire, but he also had a key role (literally and figuratively) in the birth of G-Funk, a new sub-genre of rap.
Dr. Dre’s life and work have shaped Rap and Hip Hop into what they are now. Who knows where rap music would be today if not for his impact. Because of Dre, we have Snoop Dogg, Eminem, 50 Cent, The Game, Kendrick Lamar and Anderson .Paak to name a few.
Eminem has just wished the legendary producer a happy birthday on Twitter by sharing a picture of their Super Bowl performance with the caption: “STOP THE BEAT A MINUTE… Dre, I got something 2 say: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!”
Following the Super Bowl Halftime performance, the sales and streams have dramatically increased for every artist who performed, especially Eminem.
“Lose Yourself” hit No. 1 on Genius charts and Encore surpassed 1.5 billion streams on Spotify, making Eminem the only artist on the platform to have 10 albums with 1.5 billion streams.
.@Eminem becomes the first artist in history to have ten albums reach 1.5 billion streams each on Spotify.
.@Eminem “Lose Yourself” enters the top 10 on the US Spotify chart for the first time following the Super Bowl. It was the first 2000’s hip-hop song to reach 1 billion streams.
Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg also saw huge increase in streams and sales, especially their biggest hit song “Still D.R.E.” which has joined the billion viewers club on YouTube.
The Pepsi Super Bowl 56 halftime show, featuring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, 50 Cent, Kendrick Lamar, Mary J. Blige and Anderson .Paak was amazing but of course, there are so many memes coming out of it and this is what happens after every halftime show these days.
Some of the highlights coming from 50 Cent but there were all kinds of jokes flying around the social media platform, which we’ve helpfully gathered into one place for your amusement.
From Eminem taking a knee during the event to 50 Cent’s surprise entrance, there were a number of things that fans felt inclined to react to or poke fun at.
