Eminem’s manager Paul Rosenberg considers making movie about Ken Kaniff

Eminem‘s longtime friend and manger, Paul Rosenberg has recently hit Instagram to share some update on upcoming “HOW MUSIC GOT FREE” documentary which tells the gripping true story of Dell Glover, a CD factory worker from Shelby, North Carolina, who led the music piracy revolution by collaborating with a group of teen hackers. The film explores the rise and fall of piracy groups, legal battles, FBI investigations, and the impact on artists and executives. It delves into the secret history of the music industry and the true patient zero of music piracy. Narrated by Method Man with interviews from Eminem, 50 Cent, Rocsi Diaz, Timbaland and more, it captures the clash between traditional music distribution and the digital revolution.

The documentary is produced by Philip Byron, Marshall Mathers, Paul Rosenberg, LeBron James, Maverick Carter, Steve Stoute, Jamal Henderson, Bridgette Theriault, Dan Sacks, James Chapman, Steve Berman, John Janick, Anthony Seyler, Stephen Witt, Alexandria Stapleton, Bruce Gillmer, Michael Maniaci and Malik Johnson.

I’m a little late here, but this past Saturday 3/9/24 at @sxsw in Austin, TX we held the premier screening of our documentary “HOW MUSIC GOT FREE” at the Stateside Theatre. We produced the doc in association with @makespringhill & @interscopefilms. Afterwards we had a brisk panel Q&A with our director @stapletonkas writer @stephenwittbooks and Dell Glover. The 2-part documentary film will be available on @paramountplus very early this summer!” Paul Rosenberg captioned his Instagram post.

In the comments, one of the fans replied: “You should make a movie about Ken Kaniff from Connecticut.” On which Paul responded: “yes. Yes we should.” Ken Kaniff aka Ken Kenneth (Tony Maloney Rose) is a recurring character in skits and, initially, songs on Eminem’s albums. He was originally made and voiced by Aristotle on the skit “Ken Kaniff” on The Slim Shady LP. However, a dispute between him and Eminem resulted in both artists severing ties. The character, as he appears on The Marshall Mathers LP, has since been voiced exclusively by Eminem, while Aristotle’s original version of Ken still exists as a bisexual, adult male still attending high school. Ken is portrayed as having an expansive imagination coupled alongside a distinctly psychopathic mind state which rationalizes both pedophilia and an irrational hate for minor authority figures.

Aristotle (sometimes known as Aris for short and fully as Aristotle Benoit) is an underground rapper who used to live in Detroit and was signed to Web Entertainment where he was labelmates with Eminem until they had a falling out in 1999. While it is largely unknown where he is today, he does have a soundcloud account here. He is the original creator of Ken Kaniff, a character who has popped up in Eminem’s work from time to time. The Ken Kaniff character originated from a skit he did where he prank-called Eminem and pretended to be Ken Kaniff from Connecticut. However, Eminem put the skit on The Slim Shady LP without Aristotle’s permission and thus their beef began.

In related news, SOUNDRAW, an artificial intelligence-powered beat and track generator, has raised $3 million in funding as it continues to grow its platform which has so far garnered a following of over 557,000 creators. The investment round was led by Carbide Ventures, with participation from other investors including mint VC, Ceres, iSGS, SMBC Venture Capital, Deepcore, and Kazuomi Kaneto. Notably, Paul Rosenberg, CEO of Goliath Artists and President of Shady Records. Reports Music Business Worldwide.

Eminem’s manager Paul Rosenberg responds Kanye West’s apology to Jewish community

Yesterday, Kanye West, who has faced huge backlash for repeatedly making anti-Semitic comments, shared a public apology in Hebrew to Jewish people for his actions.

“I sincerely apologize to the Jewish community for my unplanned outburst caused by my words or actions, it was not my intention to hurt or disrespect, and I deeply regret any pain I may have caused,” reads his statement, which was shared through the Instagram (and was translated into English).

Ye continues: “I am committed to starting with myself and learning from this experience to ensure greater sensitivity and understanding in the future. Being forgiven is important to me and I am committed to making amends and promoting unity.”

In response to Kanye West’s apology, the Anti-Defamation League, a non-profit advocacy organization, released a statement: “After causing untold damage by using his vast influence and platform to poison countless minds with vicious antisemitism and hate, an apology in Hebrew may be the first step on a long journey towards making amends to the Jewish community and all those who he has hurt. Ultimately, actions will speak louder than words but this initial act of contrition is welcome.”

It seems, Eminem’s longtime friend and manager Paul Rosenberg could not agree more as he shared the statement on Instagram: “I visited the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe today in Berlin (yes, that’s what it’s called and it’s not supposed to be pleasant). It’s a deep, powerful monument- if you make it to Berlin, please spend some time and make the visit. You to, @kanyewest. Actions > Words.”

Eminem & Cristiano Ronaldo arrive in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to attend Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou fight

Two combat sports titans, WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, are scheduled to clash in the boxing ring on Saturday.

This highly anticipated bout showcases the unrivaled prowess of these two formidable athletes, adding an exceptional element to the ongoing series of “crossover boxing” events.

Fury has never tasted defeat as a professional and has met other massive punches, including three fights with Deontay Wilder in which Wilder scored knockdowns but could not keep Fury on the canvas. Fury also is set to face WBA, WBO and IBF champion Oleksandr Usyk with a targeted date of Dec. 23, which adds a bit of extra intrigue to the Ngannou fight as any injury or cut could set Fury back from his pursuit of becoming the first undisputed heavyweight champion of the four-belt era.

Ngannou defeated Stipe Miocic in March 2021 to win the UFC heavyweight championship. He defended the title with a decision over Ciryl Gane the following January and then parted ways with the UFC amid a bitter round of contract negotiations. One of the sticking points in those negotiations was Ngannou’s desire to take a chance in the boxing ring.

To attend the most anticipated fight of the year, Eminem, Royce 5’9″, Paul Rosenberg and Mr. Porter arrived in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo also checked in. Check out the new video and photos below:

Paul Rosenberg responds Eminem’s “8 Mile Sequel” rumors

The cult masterpiece film 8 Mile’s legacy won’t be altered, according to Paul Rosenberg.

Rosenberg, Eminem’s longtime manager and business partner, claims that the Detroit legend’s critically acclaimed movie “8 Mile” won’t have a follow-up. The original movie was released back in 2002 and went to win the Academy Award (Oscar) for Best Original Song with “Lose Yourself.”

The rumors of 8 Mile sequel have been circulation on social media in the past few days. Paul Rosenberg, who was a co-founder and former president of Shady Records, clarified the situation on social media on Friday.

“Just wanna clear this up. There is no 8 Mile sequel. It does not and won’t exist,” he wrote. Users had mixed responses to the news. One wrote: “That’s good. Some movies are already unique. Don’t need a sequel. Except for an album called Relapse…” Another noted: “Thank you, we don’t want that. We want The TV Show, Based off 8-Mile,” they said.

We might not be getting the sequel of 8 Mile but 50 previewed the idea of creating 8 Mile TV series back in January while appearing on Big Boy’s Neighborhood. He said the show will further Eminem’s “legacy.”

He most recently discussed the project during an interview with Men’s Health. “This s–t is expected to be just as big as the feature film, just huge, it’ll be huge. The interest in it is because the time period that 8 Mile was capturing further back, so as we move it into modern times you’ll see things about how we function now, how technology changed the way people enter the music business.”

Watch: Dr. Dre, Jimmy Iovine & Paul Rosenberg surprise 50 Cent at his birthday party

Fiddy might have rapped about partying ‘like it’s your birthday’, on his iconic single “In Da Club,” from Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ album but it appears 50 Cent favors a more low-key approach when it comes to his own born day.

West London locals were no doubt rather surprised to see the musician and actor, who was in London to perform at the Wireless Festival in Finsbury Park on Saturday, enjoying a belated birthday celebration at Somalian restaurant, The Village, on Fulham Palace Road, Hammersmith, on Sunday evening.

Friends, including music moguls Dr. Dre, Eminem’s manager Paul Rosenberg, Fredwreck and Jimmy Iovine who co-founded the Beats Electronics brand in California in 2006, put on a surprise belated birthday bash for the star, who actually turned 48 on July 6, 2023. Unfortunately, Eminem was missing.

Eminem & Paul Rosenberg to make animated cameo in Juice WRLD & Cordae’s new “Role Model” sampled single

Cole Bennett and Lyrical Lemonade preparing their first ever compilations album LL1*. It is yet unknown when the album will be released but the first single “Doomsday” by Juice WRLD and Cordae will be dropped this Friday (June 23, 2023).

“Doomsday” by Juice WRLD and Cordae samples Eminem‘s iconic single “Role Model” produced by Dr. Dre and Mel-Man, from his 1999 classic album, The Slim Shady LP. According to the cover of the single, Eminem and Paul Rosenberg will make an animated cameo in the music video of the single.

Last year, Cole Bennett talked about the album during the interview with Our Generation Music: “You know, obviously like the Lyrical Lemonade album has always been in discussion for you know, since things really popped off. It was always like it would be really cool if there was a Lyrical Lemonade album, you know. That was just built out with a lot of like, you know, it’s a compilation album with a lot of the artists that we work with and just creating different vibes and bringing different worlds together, but I never wanted to do it, because… man, man I really hated labels really really bad for a long time. Just because it just rubbed me the wrong way. Now, I’m learning to just appreciate it more. I think I just matured, you know what I mean? Because I was so DIY, like anti-industry and I just never wanted to do it, the timing was wrong.” he said.

Then he continued: “But I think its because it was when all the labels wanted to do these joint ventures and have Lyrical Lemonade to be a sub label and I never wanted to do that. I didn’t know what I was doing and I never go into anything if I’m not fully knowledge on the situation. I’m not a numbers guy either. I don’t wanna be tied into contracts with anyone. I do this because I love it. This is my passion. So, to see people operate solely off just finances and things of that nature, not to get into it too much, I feel like I was getting pulled in by some s–t that I didn’t want. The album being mentioned right around that time, after all of these labels trying to do all these things, I was like all of that type of stuff I was iffy about it and I just knew that the time wasn’t right, you know? I’m big on timing with everything, if I feel even the tiniest gut feeling in the opposite direction, I follow it.”

“Recently, because now I’m ready to take things to the next level, I’m ready to start working on movies and start building Lyrical Lemonade into different worlds. I got some crazy ideas. My imagination, my drive is in a better spot than it’s ever been. This is a unturned stone, like this is something that had to be done. It’s a Lyrical Lemonade album and I know that now with my experience and a lot of the relationships I’ve built, I think I could really do something cool. Bring people together and just make different sounds that maybe wouldn’t get made otherwise and getting more involved with records and that executive producer role, in terms of helping, construct, and layer songs. It’s exciting for me. I want to be in the studio, bringing people together and just building records, so I think this would be really cool.” Cole Bennett added.

Few snippets of the song “Doomsday” by Juice WRLD and Cordae has already been leaked. You can check it out in the video below:

Paul Rosenberg replies to a fan about his favorite track from Eminem’s “Relapse” album

Eminem‘s manager and long-time friend Paul Rosenberg has recently interacted with the fan on Twitter.

One of the users asked his followers to choose between Eminem’s two tracks from “Relapse” album: “Stay Wide Awake” or “Same Song & Dance.” On which, Rosenberg replied: “Stay Wide Awake … duh!”

Relapse is the sixth solo studio album by Eminem. It was released on May 15, 2009, through Aftermath Entertainment, Shady Records, and Interscope Records. The album serves as Eminem’s return to original material since Encore (2004), following a four-year hiatus from recording due to his writer’s block and an addiction to prescription sleeping medication. Recording sessions for the album took place between 2007 and 2009 at several recording studios, and Dr. Dre, Mark Batson, and Eminem handled production.

Relapse is a concept album that revolves around horror, drug rehabilitation and relapse. A return of his Slim Shady alter ego, Eminem stated that the album’s theme was more reminiscent of The Slim Shady LP (1999) and The Marshall Mathers LP (2000).

One of the most anticipated albums of 2009, Relapse debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, selling 608,000 copies in its first week. It also reached number one in twelve other countries.

She has recently covered Eminem‘s “Rap God,” specifically the supersonic speed part. In the caption of the video, she wrote: “Guess who’s back? My first new cover in almost 6 months! Paul Rosenberg : “Eminem is not done yet, he’s always recording”

Eminem‘s manager and his long-time friend, Paul Rosenberg, has recently sat down with The Oakland Press to give an exclusive interview about Detroit legend’s Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame introduction.

“When Eminem inducted Run-DMC into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame back in 2009, We were like, ‘Wait a minute — eventually this could be you,” Rosenberg recalls.

Then he continues: “But still, I did not even think about something like the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame until probably 3-4 years ago. Somebody mentioned to me that eligibility for the Rock Hall is 25 years after you release your first album. I was like, ‘Wait a minute — that’s not too far away.’”

“The induction is hugely significant. It is part of somebody’s legacy, to get that recognition. And this is the first time on the ballot, so that is a big honor. It is one of the big trophies in the case. Marshall is an extremely humble guy, and he does not love people fawning over him in that way. But like anybody else who works hard at what they do, he appreciates being recognized for it. What it means to him… you will have to hear him when he gets up on stage.”

“It was sort of a big, celebratory, legacy year but Eminem is primarily interested in new work and does not view the Rock Hall induction as the signal of any kind of end. It is a little strange; you do not want to look like you are looking back when at the same time you are trying to create and move forward. It’s a little bit of a difficult balance, figuring out the right way to walk that line, and for him it can get a little frustrating. He does not want to seem like he is done being a currently recording music artist, because he very much is. He is very consumed with the process of creating, and he never really stops recording. I do not think he really needs a reason to continue. It is just what he does.” said Paul Rosenberg.

Benny The Butcher shows love to Eminem & Paul Rosenberg

Griselda’s Benny the Butcher is raising money for the families of the 10 victims of the racially motivated mass shooting in his hometown of Buffalo, New York. Yesterday, the rapper released his track titled “Welcome to the States” addressing the massacre and the need for reforms.

“Ideologies formed on hate, now the grocery stores ain’t safe.” raps Benny on the track that samples Kendrick Lamar “We Cry Together.”

The black-and-white music video — which has a fundraiser for the National Crime Victim Bar Association and other organizers helping the shooting victims’ families tied to it — laces clips of grocery stores and American imagery with historical clips of the Ku Klux Klan.

“Mass shooting in my city, eight minutes from where my block at. Saw innocent people shot at a supermarket I shop at,” he raps, before ending the song with an audio clip from President Joe Biden’s speech addressing the shooting.

Benny has also recently shouted out Eminem and Pau Rosenberg for signing Griselda to Shady Records. In a tweet, he said: “What Paul and Eminem did for Buffalo and hip hop just by signing Griselda is forever appreciated.”

Paul Rosenberg tells story behind “Jimmy, Brian and Mike” track from The Eminem Show expanded edition

Eminem has just released the expanded edition of his legendary album, “The Eminem Show,” for its 20 years anniversary, which includes a track titled “Jimmy, Brian and Mike” which was scrapped from another classic album, “The Marshall Mathers LP.”

Eminem’s manager and long-time friend, Paul Rosenberg went on Instagram to share a little story behind the song:

“20 short years ago today we released Eminem’s third Aftermath/Interscope album THE EMINEM SHOW! There was a song that Proof and Denaun Porter always loved and begged Em to release, called “Jimmy, Brian and Mike” that for whatever reason he just never finished beyond demo stages. A couple months ago for this EXPANDED EDITION release Em went back to the lab, recalled the sessions, finished the chorus and put the touches on it so that it could be included in the Bonus Tracks added to the album – along with some previously unavailable for streaming gems like “Stimulate”, freestyles, instrumentals and live performances including Eminem’s legendary first headline NYC show at Tramp’s and others. Please sit back and enjoy the show. Link in bio.” – said Paul.

Mike Saputo, who has previously worked with Eminem many occasions, designed the cover art for the expanded edition and revealed that vinyls are on its way: “For the 20th anniversary of The Eminem Show, we put on some shiny new curtains to celebrate. Jimmy, Brian and Mike approved. Extended Edition available now. Working up some nice vinyl packaging soon!”
