Today is June 20, which means its a FATHERS DAY, a holiday of honoring fatherhood and paternal bonds, as well as the influence of fathers in society.
In Catholic countries of Europe, it has been celebrated on 19 March as Saint Joseph’s Day since the Middle Ages. In the United States, Father’s Day was founded by Sonora Smart Dodd and celebrated on the third Sunday of June for the first time in 1910.
We kept hearing how bad husband Eminem is but decades ago, in the interview with 20/20, his ex-wife Kim talked about how great father he is:
“He’s an excellent father. He loves his kids very much. When there is anything up like field trip or anything that has to do with school or any activity that Hailie’s involved, he is always right there. When she’s upset or she needs to talk or anything, he’s always lending a helping hand. He always wants to be there. He’s always trying to be involved in her life. How she’s feeling. How was her day. He’s just always for her.”
Murda Mook and Loaded Lux has recently set down with No Jumper where they recall working with Eminem and Dre for Total Slaughter and they revealed the reason the show didn’t blow up.
“I blame the battle rappers. Then the leagues that banned against it. And then fans for being gullible enough cause they were f**king with it. Initially, all of a sudden they see battle rappers and leagues and then they were like: ‘you know what? you are right man! This ain’t right. WE supposed to be here. We supposed to look like two ni**as arguing, two black hood street ni**as arguing with ni**as behind them, so when all the money really was supposed to come in, they were like ni**as arguing about it. They were like ‘we ain’t gonna get anything and these ni**as will get millions of dollars.’
“The way they set it up for us, that s**t was amazing! We were off to the races and Eminem and Dr. Dre was involved but them ni**as scared them away. And you know what Em does? Em doesn’t say ‘f**k them.’ He was like ‘oh s**t. my fault you all. I’m sorry. I don’t want to disrespect your show, Imma fall back.” This is the kind of person he is. He felt bad. He felt like he f**ked it up.” said Murda Mook
Drake, Kanye West, Lil Wayne and Eminem’s “Forever” song is now a platinum seller in the United Kingdom as the song has now sold over 600,000 units in the country.
“Forever” was released as a single from the soundtrack to LeBron James’s More Than A Game documentary. The song was also placed on the re-release of Eminem’s album Relapse, titled Relapse: Refill.
The track was produced by Boi-1da and was originally for Kardinal Offishall featuring Rock City in early 2008, as “Bring It Back”. Kardinal did not use the song for his album and it was later re-sold to Drake, who released it in late 2008 as “I Want This Forever” featuring Lil Wayne and Kidd Kidd.
The 2009 version of “Forever” features Kanye West, Lil Wayne, and Eminem. Rapper Jay-Z called it the best posse cut of the decade. Kanye West also revealed that he had to re-write his verse for two days after hearing Eminem’s verse.

This Friday marks the 25th anniversary of Beck’s landmark album Odelay. Beck went on Matt Wilkinson’s Apple Radio show today to discuss the Odelay era and other career tidbits.
At one point the interview drifted ahead a couple years to the moment when Beck was preparing to release 1999’s Midnite Vultures.
“I went in my first meeting with Jimmy Iovine and I had Midnite Vultures and I was going to play it for him. He said, “Before we do anything, I just signed this kid. It’s going to be massive. It’s going to change everything. We just got the video. They just sent it to us today. Sit down and watch this.” Me and my manager sat down and we’re looking at each other like, “Ah.” So he puts on the record and the video comes on and it’s like, “Hi, my name is.” And it’s this blonde kid rapping. And the song is funny. And then my jaw’s on the floor, because the loop, the sample is a Wurlitzer keyboard, just like on “Where It’s At.” It’s the sample that the Dust Brothers were saving for me to be the follow-up for “Where It’s At.” It’s the exact sample. “I Got The Blues.” Which we were saving for the follow-up to Midnite Vultures. And then Dr. Dre got to it first and he used it for Eminem’s first single.”

Song “Berzerk,” 2013
“So sick, I’m looking pale—wait, that’s my pigment. ‘Bout to go ham, ya bish, shout out to Kendrick.”
BET Interview, 2013.
“I love what Kendrick is doing. He is continuing the tradition of making rap excitement. What he did with “Control” verse was incredible.”
New York Times written interview, 2016.
“I love Kendrick Lamar. I just try to pay attention to what’s out. Wayne puts out a new song, and my ears perk up. There are certain artists that make me do that just because of the talent that they rhyme at — it’s like candy to me. Kendrick, the way he puts albums together — front to back, they’re like pieces of art.”
KXNG Crooked reveals Eminem wanted Kendrick to win album of the year at the Grammys, 2016.
“I talked to Eminem about Kendrick nominations. He seemed like he doubted if they would give him Album of the Year. Not because he doesn’t deserve it but he was telling me all the stories of people been snubbed for their amazing albums in Hip Hop. He was like ‘Yo man, I just really want him Kendrick Lamar to get that Grammy.”
Elton John interviews Eminem, 2017.
Eminem on Genius, 2017.
DIFFUS Interview, 2018.
“I think hip hop is in a good place right now. Definitely. I feel like artists like J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar and Joyner Lucas are definitely the students of the game and I feel like they have studied hip hop beyond their years. To me, you can not be as good as they are without going back and studying the evolution of hip hop.”
“The Ringer,” 2018.
“If you ain’t Joyner, Ii you ain’t Kendrick or Cole or Sean, then you’re a goner.”
“Fall,” 2018.
“I belong here, clown! Don’t tell me ’bout the culture! I inspired the Hopsins, the Logics, the Coles, the Seans, the K-Dots, the 5’9″s, and oh brought the world 50 Cent.”
Interview with Kxng Crooked, 2020
“One of the best things is to be able to watch like Cole and Kendrick come up and seeing how great they were right off the bat.” In the same interview, Eminem listed his current top rappers: “As rap evolves, you know like I said, you gotta put Cole and Kendrick on that list, and Joyner, because those are guys who really care about the craft. I can’t predict our flow pattern, I can never predict anything, it’s the same thing getting on a track with Kendrick. I can never tell what the f*ck he’s gonna do. Cause he is such a chameleon of styles, and he can fu*king do pretty much anything. And he’s so proficient at it, he’s so good at it and you don’t know what you’re gonna get. That to me is like a top-tier lyricist. Because you can get your a*s kicked any day.”
Interview with Sway on Shade 45, 2020
“They say nobody is really saying lyrics anymore but that’s bulls**t cause there are lots of kids coming up. I mention Kendrick and Cole a lot. I know they are not kids-coming-up anymore but they came after us but they have studied all the greats. You can tell because it goes into their pan.”
On Big Sean’s “Friday Night Cypher,” 2020
I don’t make sure every sentence and bar with a pencil is sharp, and I’m quick on the draw, Yeah, so when I pull it, surprise like Kendrick Lamar you need to walk the Yellow Brick Road and find the chick with the dog ‘cause y’all are missing a heart.”
Zane Lowe Interview, 2021
“I rap to be the best rapper but I am not the only rapper who raps to be the best rapper, Wayne, Cole, Kendrick you know what I am saying like Joyner Lucas they rap to be the best rapper”.
In 2002 it was announced that Eminem and Dr. Dre have signed an up and coming rapper by the name of Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and since then rap game has never been the same.
At the time of 50’s signing to Eminem’s Shady Records label and the Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment, the then-27-year-old rapper was only two years removed from being shot nine times in front of his grandmother’s house in Southside Jamaica, Queens. Weeks prior to his signing, 50 and his newly established crew, G-Unit, had unleashed their now-iconic mixtape, 50 Cent Is the Future. Featuring a variety of inventive remixes and a collection of dynamic raps from Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo, the project helped 50 live up to its title.
50 Cent realized his big potential when he dropped off his incredible debut album, Get Rich Or Die Tryin’, on Feb. 6, 2003, under Shady Records. Led by his hit single, “In Da Club,” the project debuted at No. 1 on the US Billboard 200 albums chart after selling 872,000 copies in its first week.
Fifty’s second album ‘The Massacre’ was a massive commercial success as it became one of the fastest selling albums in the history of hip-hop. Debuting at No.1 on Billboard 200, the album sold more than 1 million copies in its first week of release.
Yesterday, Royce Da 5’9″ took on Twitter where the Detroit legend told a short story from the past, while showing love to Eminem.
“Fun Fact: I was about to do a deal with the legendary Herbie Love Bug but Marshall found out and called me. He said “Nah Dog, with all due respect, you ain’t about to do a deal with no Herbie Love Bug.”
“He played my music for Dre that same day and told him the situation. Dre must have agreed with him because he called my mamma crib the next day and asked would I be interested in flying out to work with them on The Chronic 2001.”
“My loyalty to the Whiteboy will NEVER waver and THIS is just ONE of the MANY reasons… Big Shout to Herbie though… He is a BIG KING.” – said Royce.

To celebrate the anniversary of the album, Mariah Carey posted a TikTok video of her saying “Why you so obsessed with me,” along Eminem’s new look.

Rap icon Dr. Dre and music industry mogul Jimmy Iovine hated school which made them to force to create a new public high school project in Los Angeles.
“I want to reach the inner-city kid, the younger me. Here’s a place that you can go where there’s something that you can learn that you’re really interested in.” said Dr. Dre
“This is for kids who want to go out and start their own company or go work at a place… like Marvel, or Apple or companies like that.” – added Jimmy Iovine
Dr. Dre continues: “That guy that didn’t have an opportunity, that had to scratch and figure out things on his own. That had the curiosity but didn’t have these type of opportunities, really smart kids — we want to touch and give them this open door and these opportunities to be able to show what they can do.”
“No kid wants to go to school. Because it’s boring. You keep flipping the same thing over and over and over again, year after year, with the same curriculum, the same teachers. This is something new and different that might excite the kids and make them want to go to school.”
“I had no idea this is where my life and career was gonna go, and everything that I’ve been doing throughout my career… was gonna lead to this, all those things a stepping stone to get here. Is this what it’s supposed to be? The, you know, the Big Bang? Hopefully it is.”
“This is how you spend money and feel good about it. And that feeling lasts, and most importantly it makes others feel good! Proud to know these gentlemen.” said Eminem’s manager, Paul Rosenberg.
Dr. Dre also talked about his health conditions and more. You can visit LA Times for the full interview here.
