Ice Cube says he’d choose Eminem as his ally in a rap battle

Legendary Ice Cube took some time to touch on a variety of topics with The Guardian magazine.

While the interview covers things from his past, like his break from N.W.A., he also touched on a hypothetical situation. The interviewer asked: If you had to choose two rappers to join your team in a rap battle, who would they be and why?

On which Cube replied: “Eminem is one of the best rappers that’s ever blessed the mic, and I feel the same way about Lil Wayne – I would not mind going into battle with those two.”

This is not the first time Ice Cube showed love to Eminem. Couple of years ago, he listed the top 15 greatest emcees of all time and included Slim Shady into it.

“I go back to guys who set the bar.” said Cube. “One of my first greatest is Melle Mel, another great emcee, I believe who brought more style to rhymes is KRS-1, another guy is my favorite of all time who introduced consciousness on another level into rap it’s Chuck D. Another one is another trendsetter, one of the OGs who helped the west coast get on the map, that’s Ice-T.”

Then he continued: “Snoop is one of my favorite rappers of all time, so is Biggie, so is Jay Z, so is Nas. We got rappers like Ras Kass on the west coast that’s crazy, Eminem – one of the best to ever touch the mic. Lil Wayne goddamn, he’s nasty! Oh, and Black Thought, monster! I’m gonna say Slick Rick. I’m gonna leave the last one blank [Laughs]. There are so many great emcees to name.”

Wicked says Eminem can go against Lil Wayne on Verzuz battle

Wicked from the Ghetto Mafia has recently sat down with B High Atl where he listed rappers who go against Lil Wayne in a Verzuz battle and included Eminem as the main candidate.

“If we are talking one on one, my catalog against yours, Eminem can go toe to toe with Lil Wayne. Jay can go toe to toe with him. LL is another guy. LL can go against anybody. Rock The Bell album alone, every song on that album, it’s 15! Nas, you know Snoop can go at anybody. His own partner Drake too. I said Em. We can throw Kanye up there.” said Wicked

Then he continues: “If we are talking about just lyricists, I have no argument with Lil Wayne. I know some people might be upset when I say but Eminem! Em’s a bad motherf–ker. We can’t hate. You know, some people are like ‘I can’t put him in there’ but that’s bulls–t.”

“After Dre and Snoop for a moment, I don’t know their personal business, but it was a little moment that they would not f–king with each other and that’s when he came in with Em and 50 Cent. And when he came with Em like ‘Nowadays everybody wanna talk like they got something to say’ Snoop was like ‘hold on now. Snoop had to do like that for a minute and he was like ‘maybe I should talk to Dre and square this away’ so like I said, I would put Em up there, like Nas and Jay but Lil Wayne does not have to apologize for saying that. This man held down this industry for 30 plus years.” Wicked added.

Killer Mike talks getting flowers from Eminem & Kendrick Lamar

Run The Jewel’s Killer Mike hops on the BTM Podcast to talk about his upcoming album, getting his flowers from rappers like Kendrick Lamar, Lil Wayne and Eminem and what the Atlanta Falcons need for a successful NFL season this year!

“It is a defensive juggernaut saying that he’s amongst us. It means a lot. He’s lyrically, from a pugilist standpoint, he’s one of the greatest fighters that ever lived.” Killer Mike said on getting compliment from Kendrick Lamar.

Then he continues: “Kendrick has said that. Lil Wayne has said that. Eminem has said that. Outkast have said that. I don’t have nothing to prove to you as much as this is proving to myself. No criticism you give me outweighs Scarface telling me you are one of the greatest. No criticism you give me outweighs Ice Cube saying you are consistent. If I can’t be a GOAT that’s fine because I always prefer being a wolf and I’m coming for every GOAT’s throat. That’s the goal for me.”

Kevin Durant shares his thoughts on potential 50 Cent & Lil Wayne Verzuz battle

If 50 Cent ever made the decision to enter the Verzuz ring and compete against Lil Wayne, Kevin Durant has made up his mind that he will support 50 Cent.

The NBA star has recently sat down for new episode of The ETCs where he and co-host Eddie Gonzalez discussed the potential Verzuz battle, and Durant has 50 Cent reigning victorious.

“I would not say Fifty is going to flat-out wash Wayne. I will not say that out of respect for Wayne. But it is not going to be a clear-cut win for Wayne against 50 Cent. And these records that he has from ’02 to, let’s say, ’07.” said Durant.

Then he continues: “Fifty is — he’s one of the greatest — that five-or six-year period for G-Unit, and Fifty was incredible. It is like one of the best runs of all time in Hip-Hop. A lot of people said that Wayne would just wash 50. And we definitely disagreed on that.”

“And he still a monster. A lot of s–t and he has had a 20-year run based off of what he created back then and saw many avenues that he built off of that run and had so many pivots in his career. 50 is one of the greatest.” Kevin Durant added.

Charlamagne, Ebro, Young Guru, Lowkey & more share their thoughts on 50 Cent VS Lil Wayne Verzuz battle

Ebro Darden has recently said that 50 Cent would “wash” Lil Wayne in a Verzuz battle, causing an uproar on social media in the process. Check out how hip-hop world responded to 50 Cent Vs Lil Wayne Verzuz battle.

Ebro Darden

“What Jadakiss did to Dipset…Is what 50 will do to Wayne… @yourboyeddie wasn’t outside in the mid-2000s.”

Eddie Francis

“I seen Ebro’s opinion and I was like, ‘What?!’ In what world? I’m not even here to say 50 could beat Lil Wayne, but to say that 50 would wash Lil Wayne? In no dimension, in no world, in no — just no! That would not happen.”

Lowkey

“I’ma say something and I’ma stand on it: Wayne don’t have a Get Rich or Die Tryin, We’re talking about a Verzuz battle, right? We’re not talking about what we like. We’re not talking about what we grew up on. We’re not talking about what we listen to when we’re in the kitchen cooking or driving down whatever highway in L.A. that you drive down. We’re talking about in a crowd. We’re talking about 50 Cent. This man is a mainstream monster; Wayne is a cultural mainstream monster. But when we talk about these hits? When we talk about these bodies of work? When we talk about these smashes? I ain’t saying 50’s gonna wash Wayne, but if Wayne is not sequenced right and is not positioned correctly, that could be a very long f–king night for Dwayne Carter. No disrespect to Wayne”

Charlamagne Tha God

“What is Lowkey talking about? Yes, Lil Wayne does not have Get Rich but he has a massive amounts of hits. I love 50 Cent but one album can not win the Verzuz. 50 Cent is gonna need more than just Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ to go against one of the top 5, potentially top 3 greatest rappers of all time. Lil Wayne could literally start in 1998 and come up all the way up to Young Money era. We talking +25 years. You will catch hell going against Lil Wayne in Verzuz 20 songs songs against 20 songs.”

Young Guru

“For the record, y’all are crazy. Wayne would wash 50. Period.”

Tyga says Eminem & Lil Wayne are the best rappers of all time

Billboard and Vibe Magazine have recently released a list of top 50 greatest rappers of all time which sparked big debate in hip-hop world. The list saw Jay-Z at number one, Eminem at number five and Lil Wayne at number seven. It seems, Tyga disagrees the rankings of popular magazines.

Taking on Twitter (March 24, 2023), Tyga crowned Lil Wayne and Eminem as two best rappers of all time: “Lil Wayne and Eminem are the best rappers of all time! Lyrical word play, delivery, flow, pockets, originality, raw, intentional, clarity, generational influence.” – he tweeted.

This is not the first time Tyga is showing love to Eminem. Last year, during one of the episodes of GOAT Talk with Complex magazine, Compton, California-born rapper gave shout out to Slim Shady and Weezy.

GOAT Talk is a show where Complex journalists ask today’s greats rappers to crown their all-time greats. One of the questions on the card was who is the greatest rapper of all time on which Tyga replied: “I am gonna have to go with like, prime Lil Wayne and prime Eminem, for me. I think those are my two favorite rappers. For sure.”

Melle Mel responds backlash over his comments about Eminem

In the recently released 8 minutes clip, Melle Mel addresses backlash over his comments about Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and Lil Wayne. The legendary rapper from Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five called out Billboard and Vibe magazine for including Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Nicki Minaj, Drake and Lil Wayne in the list. His statements sparked discussion in social media and few other rappers weighted in, including 50 Cent, Kevin Gates and Fat Joe.

To respond the controversy, Melle Mel recorded a video from the gym where he says: “I said, Eminem is only number five on the list because he was white. I guess that started the uproar. Everybody is just so angry that I would say that. I’ve been branded a racist but that’s impossible, I’ve been playing with all the different kind of people in my life.”

Then he continues: “Eminem made record, I guess it is called “White America,” where he said that he would be less popular if he was not white. So now we basically said the same thing. This is what Eminem says (plays White America where Eminem raps “Let’s do the math, if I was black, I woulda sold half I ain’t have to graduate from Lincoln High School to know that”) He also has another record “Till I Collapse” where he named five or six individuals that he put himself behind these five or six individuals. And I have said that he would not be in the top 5 other than the fact that he was white. He said that.”

“If Eminem basically said what I said and we said very similar things, how could what he say not be racist but the thing what I said was racist? In another words, if he’s right what he said then the only reason that I could be wrong is that I’m black that I said it. Now that the only reason why I said it, and I will take full responsibility for whatever conflict it may cause. I will take full responsibility because I said it and I stand behind what I said. So, for those who don’t believe it, this is what he says (plays Till I Collapse where Eminem raps: “I got a list, here’s the order of my list that it’s in, It goes Reggie, Jay-Z, 2Pac and Biggie, Andre from OutKast, Jada, Kurupt, Nas and then me.”) – Melle Mel added.

Lil Wayne says he’s better than any other rapper Billboard listed, including Eminem

Billboard and Vibe magazines have recently unveiled an updated list of the 50 greatest rappers of all time and since then the hip-hop heads have been debating for weeks about the list that has Jay-Z at number one, Kendrick Lamar at number two, Nas and number three, Tupac at number four, Eminem at number five, Notorious B.I.G. at number six and Lil Wayne at number seven.

During an appearance on Zane Lowe’s Apple Music podcast show, Lil Wayne has entered into conversation and declared himself the greatest rapper of all time. Weezy says straight up, he is number one and even dares survey-takers to ask the emcees ranked higher than him how they feel about it. In his view, he thinks they would agree on the fact that Wayne is greater than them: “Bro, I am motherf–kin one. I mean, everybody they named, rest in peace, but they also know that I’m number one. Go ask them! Go ask them!

Lil Wayne proved himself to be one of the best rappers to ever touch the microphone but is he really on Eminem’s level? The two have jumped on a track three times: “Drop The World,” “No Love” and “Forever,” by Drake, which also featured Kanye West. During the interview on Drink Champs, Weezy talked highly about those joints and gave Eminem his flowers: “I did a bunch of joints with Em, that’s ma man. When you get on that joint with Em it’s like a championship game, and you win it, and they ask you how does it feel. I came in with my game plan and I expected my game plan to work. When you send a song to Em you attack it like that, like Nah, yo not going to do me like this. Either we going be right here level with it, and we’re going to make a beautiful, wonderful great song, but you ain’t going do me that above me. And that’s what we did. Can nobody say anybody got bodied. I just made sure that he didn’t body me, cause that boy is a monster.

Here is how many days have passed since Eminem, Jay-Z & Lil Wayne released an album

After releasing 11 solo studio albums, Eminem seems to be taking a break. Slim Shady‘s last album, Music To Be Murdered By, was released in January 2020, meaning, 1045 days have passed since the Rap God dropped full body of work.

Later that year, Eminem did release the deluxe edition of Music To Be Murdered By, feeding his fans with 16 new tracks, with guest appearances from Dr. Dre, Skylar Grey, DJ Premier and Ty Dolla $ign among others.

The album was a commercial success. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, selling 279,000 album-equivalent units in its first week. Subsequently, Eminem became the first artist to have 10 consecutive number-one albums in the US and one of 6 artists to have released at least 10 US number-one albums.

Another hip-hop giant who has not released a studio album for years is Jay-Z, who holds the record for the most number one albums in hip-hop history with 14 of his LPs hitting No. 1 on Billboard 200 charts. Last project Jay dropped was 1975 days ago, when he released “4:44” back in June, 2017.

The album was widely acclaimed by critics, who praised its emotional and personal content. It debuted at No. 1 on the US Billboard 200 with 262,000 album-equivalent units in its first week, making it Jay-Z’s 14th album to top the chart. Only The Beatles are ahead with 20 albums.

Lil Wayne is also making his fans thirsty off new music. Last time Weezy came out with full body of work was back in January, 2020 when he dropped Funeral album. The wait will soon probably be over as the legendary rapper has already announced two projects that are coming in near future: the sixth installment of Tha Carter series and third part of I Am Not a Human Being.

Funeral debuted atop the US Billboard 200 with 139,000 album-equivalent units sold, 38,000 of which were pure album sales. It marked Lil Wayne’s fifth US number-one album.

Jay-Z shouts out Eminem on a new song with DJ Khaled, Rick Ross & Lil Wayne

DJ Khaled has just dropped a star-studded album “God Did,” which includes a long-awaited “Use This Gospel” remix by Kanye West and Eminem, produced by Dr. Dre.

The new project also includes a song with the same title as the album, “God Did,” featuring Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, John Legend and Fridayy.

In the song, Jay-Z gives a little shout out to Eminem with the following lines: “E was down ten for this / We just got his ten back then went back like, “Where the interests is?” / Em light up the O3 / We let y’all do the zazas, OG for the OGs / Some new ni**as out of pocket, talkin’ exotic / You barely been in the Baham— (Haha) that’s another topic.”

“Em light up the O3 (’03)” looks like to be a double entendre. Emory Jones lighting up the cigar that Hov is producing and Eminem lighting up the year 2003.

This is not the first time Hov is giving Eminem a nod. On a 2003 song “Excuse Me Miss,” with Pharrell Williams, Jay raps: “Got one chef, one maid, all I need is a partner / To play spades with the cards up, ALL TRUST / Who else you gon’ run with? The truth is us / Only dudes movin’ units – Em, Pimp Juice and us.”

On a 2009 song “A Star Is Born,” with J. Cole, Jigga raps: “Wayne did ‘A Milli,’ 50 did a milli / Ye too, but what Em did was silly / The white boy blossomed after Dre endorsed him / His flow on “Renegade,” f**king awesome! / Applaud him!”
