So theoretically, somebody in GTA world is now bumping DETOX. Watch the cameo below:
On this day, exactly 28 years ag (December 15th, 1992), Dr. Dre released his solo debut album “The Chronic,” featuring Snoop Dogg, The D.O.C., Nate Dogg, Kurupt, Dat Ni**a Daz and more.
The Chronic peaked at No. 3 on the US Billboard 200 and is eligible for 5x Platinum for selling over 5.7 million copies in the United States. The album spent 8 months inside Billboard 200 Top 10.
Dr. Dre’s production on the album has been noted for popularizing the G-funk subgenre within gangsta rap. The Chronic has been widely regarded as one of the most important and influential albums of the 1990s. In 2020, the album was selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the National Recording Registry for being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.”
The album’s lead single and third single “Nuthin’ but a “G” Thang” and “Let Me Ride” were nominated at the 36th Grammy Awards, with the latter winning Best Rap Solo Performance for Dr. Dre.
“The Chronic” was included in the “greatest albums of all time” lists from almost every magazines, including TIME and Rolling Stone.
Despite the album’s classic status, Dr. Dre revealed that he does not like listening to the album at all because it reminds him of a bad times in his life:
“It’s toughest record that I have recorded in my career because, you know, it was right after my separation with Ruthless, and I was in survival mode. Going from that to the organization that I went to with all the things that were happening in the studio during the making, it was crazy. During that process, my house burned down, I was shot in the legs, and I was in the studio on crutches for a couple of weeks. So it was a lot that went into that record. It was blood, sweat, and beers that went into it. So, that is one of those records that I do not even listen to anymore.” says the greatest producer.
Kxng Crooked has recently set down with Premier Live TV to talk about Dr. Dre, Slaughterhouse, Joe Budden, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Death Raw Records and more. You can check out the interview below:
On why YouTube removed his interviews, including an interview with Eminem.
“Shout out to Marshall Mathers. When you doing an interview and if you flash to some music or video that you don’t own the copyright to, sometimes you can play it for like 10 seconds. We played a clip for like 11 seconds and they called Google and they were like ‘we want this video out of here!’ and they yank my whole channel up. But it’s cool. People still can go to Crook’s Corner YouTube channel for all the different interviews that I’ve been doing. When you are with Marshall, you are here big fish. You attracted too much attention, you can’t do that with Marshall Mathers.”
On Eminem naming him in the list of Top 10 greatest rappers of all time.
“To have somebody like Marshall Mathers, Eminem, who recognizes you and says you are the most underrated artist in the world and you are my top 10 greatest rappers of all time. It means a lot. Because he’s technician. Not saying it wouldn’t mean as much from someone else but I think it means a little more coming from somebody who understands how to write, who understands how to deliver, who understands breath control, who understands live performance, who understands metaphors, punchlines, similes, storytelling. So when you got somebody on that level who gets it and says you are my top 10, it means a lot.”
On Joe Budden and Eminem situation.
“This is what I always tell Joe. You have a huge voice in the game. So if you say something, that s**t’s gonna resonate. If he says something I disagree with, as far as how s**t went down on Shady Records, you say ‘it happened like this’ and I say ‘naah, id didn’t quite happen like that.’ He just gotta be careful. His voice is big. And one day, I’m hoping him and Em will be able to sit down. They don’t gotta be friends again, they don’t gotta do none of that. Just be men and sit down. Because they cut from the same cloth. They are really deep artists. They love their craft. If you listen to Eminem Stan and Joe fan it’s lot of similarities. They are two good dudes trying to do right things. All that happened for no reason. I really wish they sit down. It might happen. But anyways I think Joe will get back to the booth.”
Kxng Crooked also talks about Slaughterhouse, Dr. Dre, Death Raw Records and more. You can watch the interview below:
The second season of Verzuz Battle kicked off with record-breaking Gucci Mane versus Jeezy. Since then fans have been wondering which battle will be next and we just might be getting closer to the clash of two music titans: Dr. Dre and Puff Diddy.
During a recent interview with TMZ, Timbaland and Swizz Beatz spoke about their unbelievably successful show with Instagram Live and Apple Music, talking about the possibility of a fight between Puff Diddy and Dr. Dre, which might actually be in the works.
“Now that’s something different. Everybody has these magical wishes that they want to see on Verzuz but the universe has been bringing these magical wishes so I can not even say what is not gonna happen because a lot of the Verzuz, just like the last one we’ve seen, everybody said that it could not happen. Right? So now, we just let the universe naturally make things happen.”
“I am not not gonna say no about Dr. Dre and Diddy battle. I am never gonna say no anymore.” says Swizz Beatz. Watch the video below:
Xzibit has recently set down with HotNewHipHop to talk about many things including his upcoming album, Dr. Dre and Eminem. You can check out the conversation below:
Interviewer: It’s cool to see you guys are both putting out music still. I noticed too, you’ve been hanging out with Dr. Dre quite a bit, working in his studio. As someone who works with him a lot, what would you say Dr. Dre is bringing to the table when he comes in to oversee a session.
Xzibit: Well, Dr. Dre is the chairman of the board. Lets get that straight, off-top. And Dr. Dre brings the table to the table. [laughs] That is what he brings to the table. He lives in the studio, first of all. So, you know, with his level of expectation of himself and his music, I do not think people really understand and grasp how strong that process is. I can not speak on his timetable. I think that every time he is come out with something, it has made an impact and changed the direction of music, so I have no questions about his timing. Yeah, when you see me in the studio with Dre, we working on stuff for myself, we working on stuff for him, we working on stuff for everything. But as far as when he releases, that is up to him. But he never disappoints, so I just let people talk until they actually get it, and then when they get it, it is a piping hot cup of ‘Shut the f**k up.’ [laughs]
Interviewer: I am looking forward to your new album. So I have to ask this, what are the chances, and this is just coming from a fan here, but what are the chances that we can ever see a “B**ch Please III”?
Xzibit: Wooh! That is a Dr. Dre question. [laughs]
Interviewer: Well, if I ever get him on the phone again, I will definitely tell him: ”B**ch Please III.”
Xzibit: Absolutely!
Interviewer: But you are a key part of all of them, though, just as much as him! So maybe if you slide up that request, hit up Dre, maybe put the request in…I think a lot of people right now, if people saw a collaboration between you, Dre, Eminem, and Snoop right now, I really do think it would break the internet, to be honest. I really do think that.
Xzibit: Wow, that is dope, man, thank you. I will see if I can talk to Dre about it, but we will see. [Laughs]
Interviewer: On that note, I know you and Dr. Dre are super tight, but do you still at all keep in touch with Eminem? I know you guys have worked together so many times, and lets be honest, you have a great track record of collaborations, like “Don’t Approach Me…” and “My Name.”
Xzibit: I have not talked to Marshall in a minute, man, but you know, it is always the same, I got a lot of respect for him and his team. When we see each other, it is all love.
“Get It,” a Dr. Dre track, produce by Jake One, which has surfaced online today, might be from DETOX album, as a journalist named Chad Kiser said. The album, which was expected to be dropped back 2010 but Dre decided to keep the project in the vault.
The song “Get It” might sound familiar for the fans as it was pulled from 50 Cent’s freestyle “50 For President,” which Fiddy released back in 2008. On the track, Dr. Dre delivers aggressive bars as fans think the lyrics were written by 50 Cent.
Check out first few bars from the song and bump the track below:
“I see ni**as lie to they self, they probably think they lying to me…
You incapable of becoming what you trying to be…
I heard it all, I’ma do this, I’ma do that…
I’ma cop a Phantom and show up with a new six-pack…
I’ma f**k that ni**a b**ch, I’ma get me a chain…
I’ma rap and blow the roof off this Hip Hop game
I’ma slang a couple beats, get rich like you…
Dre ain’t the only ni**a with tracks, I got heat, too…
S**t might happen if you f**kin’ work as much as you talk…
Get some money and you blow it because you trying to floss…
You’re lifestyle don’t support that you about to fall off…”
Probably 50 Cent’s greatest hit song “In Da Club” has just surpassed 1 billion views on YouTube. The song was originally supposed to be a D12 song for the 8 Mile soundtrack album. Dr. Dre, who produced the track, played the instrumental for Fifty, who immediately wrote the lyrics for the song within an hour.
According to The Billboard Book Of Number 1 Hits, when choosing which song should be the lead single for Get Rich or Die Tryin’s album, Eminem favored “If I Can’t” but Dre insisted “In da Club” instead. After they tossed the coin, “In da Club” was chosen. The music video of the song features cameos from both, Eminem and Dr. Dre.
“In da Club” eventually was released as the lead single for Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ under Shady Records. The song hit No. 1 in seven countries and went multi-platinum in the United States.
