The song was originally supposed to be a D12 song for the 8 Mile soundtrack album. Dr. Dre, who produced the track, played the instrumental for Fifty, who immediately wrote the lyrics for the song within an hour. Advertisement According to The Billboard Book Of Number 1 Hits, when choosing which song should be the lead single for Get Rich or Die Tryin’s album, Eminem favored “If I Can’t” but Dre insisted “In da Club” instead. After they tossed the coin, “In da Club” was chosen. The music video of the song features cameos from both, Eminem and Dr. Dre. Advertisement “In da Club” eventually was released as the lead single for Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ under Shady Records. The song hit No. 1 in seven countries and went multi-platinum in the United States.
