On this day, exactly 18 years ago, (January 7, 2003) 50 Cent dropped Grammy-nominated, Billboard No.1 and critically acclaimed single “In Da Club,” from his debut album, Get Rich Or Die Tryin’.
In 2010, the song was ranked 448th in Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Songs of All Time list and in 2020 the song hit 1 billion views on YouTube.
“In Da Club” was recorded in 2002 and is produced by Dr. Dre, DJ Quik and Mike Elizondo. The music video of the song also features cameos from Eminem and Dre.
To celebrate 18 years anniversary, 50 Cent to twitter to thank Eminem for the success of the song: “You ain’t gonna believe this one but 18 years ago today I dropped a song I recorded in Los Angeles and it is still spinning 1,000 times a week at radio. I tell Eminem I love him for what he did for me, he put me on.”
