Lupe Fiasco decodes Eminem lyrics during his lecture in MIT

Lupe Fiasco has recently shared footage of him teaching his new “Rap Theory & Practice” class at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. As part of the course, which is described as “an exploration into the underlying fundamental functions, structures, and principles of rap,” Fiasco decodes and breaks down lyrics from himself, Eminem and Kendrick Lamar.

Songs that Lupe Fiasco examined during the lecture included Eminem’s  2000 hit song “Stan,” from The Marshall Mathers LP album, Kendrick Lamar’s “Sing About Me, I’m Dying of Thirst” and his own track “Jonylah Forever,” from his 2018 release DROGAS Wave.

“Stan! Anybody not aware of Stan? Anybody not blown away with that list? Stan is probably Eminem’s greatest record. Arguably, hands down, probably Eminem’s greatest record. This song is about a fan. It’s where we get the word Stan from. The song is about a fan who writes Eminem a letter. “Dear Marshall…” and writes his first verse. Writes another letter in second verse that’s little bit more aggressive. Then he does the third verse, per say. It’s a recording. Stan recording himself, kidnapping his girlfriend and doing this wired murder suicide plot. And he’s recording this thing to Eminem and at the end of the verse he comes to realization, ‘oh s–t, how I’m gonna send this out?!’ But that’s not a plot twist. That’s great. you gotta stop there but there is fourth verse. And the twist is, Eminem finally receives the letter from the first verse and he sat down to response: ‘Dear Stan…” and at the end of the verse, Eminem has the epiphany ‘oh s–t, it was you.’ The layering and the complexity of how he worked that repetition plot break structure, it was masterful. Taking very simple concept that we all learned when we were kinds.” said Lupe Fiasco.

Royce 5’9″ sends some strong messages to 50 Cent & Lupe Fiasco

Couple of days ago, Royce Da 5′9″ took to Instagram to question why 50 Cent publicly apologized to Pop icon Madonna for making fan about her latest photshoot but did not do the same for Hip Hop legend Lil Kim.

In the video shared on social media, Royce sends message to Fifty: “I have some stuff on my mind I want to get off. I was thinking about the effect hip-hop has had on the world and how we pretty much took over the world. So I got two messages. First message is to my brother 50 Cent, who is one of our kings. If I am a young person coming from another genre or come from another walk of life and I am following the way things are right now, I would think that Madonna is worthy of an apology, but Lil Kim is not. That ain’t the message we want to send, is it? Nah, that is not the message we want to send.”

Then Royce sends second message to Lupe Fiasco: “I know that you and Virgil were real tight. RIP to the brother Virgil. I know me and Lupe had some rap disagreements recently but I just wanna say no rap disagreement should ever supersede our mental well-being and brotherhood. And when I say brotherhood, I don’t mean friendship. That’s not the same. Friendship is not necessary, brotherhood is. So, I just want you to know Lu, that my well wishes and my thoughts are with you in your time of grief and if you need anything on this side, you know the number. Love and respect to you all. Peace.”

Nickel shared the video with the caption: “A message to 2 of our GOATS, Respectfully… 50 Cent and Lupe Fiasco. R.I.P. The Great Virgil Abloh.”

Under the post, producer Symbolyc One commented: “This is why I love you bro.”

Knxg Crooked responds Royce’s complaints about not getting involved in Lupe Fiasco beef

In a recent Live session on Instagram, Royce  Da 5’9″expressed his disappointment with some of his fellow Slaughterhouse lyrical-spitters for not getting involved in the beef with Lupe Fiasco: “Speaking of Crook and Joell, what are they up to? Watching me get jumped on? You know what I would be doing right now if somebody pulled this on one of my loved ones? I would have been rapped. I am disappointed in Crooked, I am disappointed in Joell. It is not about them wondering if I can handle myself in rapping. It is the fact that you are looking at me, and you are looking at two other individuals gang up on me on some lyrical s**t, and you just sitting there watching.

Kxng Crooked responded Royce in an interview with PsaHipHOP: “When Royce joke around like ‘Why Crook and Joell did not come jump in?! You are Royce the f**king five-nine! We already know you could go in there in five f**king minutes, and you could tear this s**t down. If you ever need us, we are always in your corner, that is one hundred. Right now the bigger picture is this: he has got a mental health initiative he is working on, he is doing s**t with the Detroit Pistons, they got Detroit day coming up soon with Marshall and Trick Trick, and all these people trying to create real change for their neighborhood, for the city. You are doing all this positive s**t on the one hand, and on the other hand, you are out here talking about tying ni**as moms up on this record. Not saying that is what he said, but to me, the bigger picture of that is ‘do you really want to be in that frequency over there? And that vibration? This is me and what I like to see my brother doing: I prefer to see my brother over there doing his mental health initiatives, helping the community, trying to change Detroit for the better. That is what I would rather see my brother doing.

Crooked continues: “I know a lot of people online want to see the back and forth, and that’s cool too. So half of me, ‘I am with you’, it is on that level too because I know what he can do. He is a killer. And the other half of me is like… more positive works for me these days. Because I am older. We could take that energy all the way to the Slaughterhouse reunion.

Lupe Fiasco shouts out Eminem while dissing Royce on “Steve Jobs” song

Originally titled “Steve Jobs: SLR 3 1/2,” the song is a response to Royce da 5’9”’s track “Silence of the Lambda” and was released in a couple of hours after Royce dropped it.

The title of the track follows from Lupe’s series of wordplay-rich and braggadocios tracks from the past viz. SLR (Super Lupe Rap), SLR 2 and SLR 3 (Round of Applause).

The 1/2 in the title may point to the fact that Lupe might not have completely gone all out on Royce at the moment with this track and he left something behind and ready to unleash it whenever and if Royce responds back.

Fans might have overlooked the lines in “Steve Jobs” track where Lupe gave shout out to Eminem. In the verse two, Fiasco raps:

Your penmanship has the fingerprints of a gimmick
And affection and the intimacy of impressions of that ni**a you friends with
I ain’t gotta say it to say it
I can’t even blame you, the nigga’s one of my favorites

Lupe is saying that Royce bit Eminem’s style of rhyming. He says that he sees ‘affection’ and ‘intimacy of impressions’ of Eminem’s pen in Royce’s rhymes. Fiasco goes on to to say that he can’t even blame Royce because Eminem is one of his favorites too.

Lupe Fiasco hits back at Royce 5’9″ with a new diss track

After Royce 5’9″ dropped “Silence Of The Lambda” earlier today, a warning shot at Lupe Fiasco, Chicago born lyricist hits back at Nickel with a diss track titled “Steve Jobs.”

“I think that n***a scared, he never leave Heaven cause he already dead. We both wear glasses. The difference is I was in school thinking it was cool, you were thinking of skipping classes / listening to your track record I can see you were skipping classics.” raps Lupe.

Some other quotable lines are: “In seven minutes he did it, If he knew how to freestyle he coulda rented Heaven for seven minutes, And been done what needed to be done by the second sentence, All this extra innings may come across as master — but my impression’s apprentice, Your penmanship has the fingerprints of a gimmick
An affection and an intimacy of impressions of that n***as you friends with, I ain’t gotta say it to say it, I can’t even blame you, the n***a’s one of my favorites.”

Royce’s brother Kid Vishis responded Lupe in the comments, saying: “Corny As A Muthaf**ka! Royce 1-0! Take your time and write man.. He makin you look Stupid early.”

In a recent conversation on ClubHouse, Royce Da 5’9″ explained to Lupe Fiasco why he responded to Benzino.

“Royce, you know you my man but sometimes you gotta let Eminem fight that s**t. F**k this ni**as man. Just don’t pay them ni**as no mind. F**k their feelings.” said Lupe Fiasco

“I came to that realization long time ago Lupe. I was not arguing with Bezino cause I was defending Eminem. I was arguing with him cause he called me a b**ch.” Royce responded.
