Xzibit Speaks on Eminem’s Cultural Impact on ‘The Shift’ Podcast

Xzibit recently sat down on The Shift podcast with Dee-1 to reflect on his longtime collaborator and fellow hip-hop icon, Eminem. Reflecting on their shared origins and early work together, Xzibit praised Slim Shady’s unprecedented rise from underground competitions to international superstardom.

“Me and Eminem, we did a lot of records back around 2000 era and of course Eminem became who he is,” Xzibit said. He highlighted the impact of seeing a fellow battle rapper reach such height, saying, “It was awesome to see him come from the same kind of cloth battle rap circuits and he just turned his talent into global culture shifting business.”

Xzibit emphasized that Eminem’s influence extended far beyond traditional music metrics like chart positions or gold certifications. “Not just records sales, but shifting the culture. Adding things to places that didn’t exist,” he said.

Looking at Eminem’s enduring legacy and work ethic today, Xzibit noted how impressive the Detroit legend’s creative approach remains after decades in the industry. “Marshall has always been dope. And it’s always interesting to see what he decides to come out now,” he said. “He’s achieved that. His process of working is very meticulous.”
