Addressing the ongoing debate around technical ability and race, Mel made his personal stance clear regarding Slim Shady’s place in rap history. “I think Eminem is one of the greatest rappers technically that we’ve ever seen. Do I think he’s the greatest? No. Do him being white or black have anything to do with it? Not at all.”

Mel further clarified his criteria for all-time status, distinguishing foundational influence from sheer mechanical mastery. “I define the greatness as those who changed the landscape the most. But I do think that technically he’s one of the best, if not the best technical rapper. As far as his rhyming skills and how he puts the words together. I think there’s nobody better than him.”

Putting their previous public back-and-forth behind them, the rap icon emphasized that there is no lingering animosity between the two artists. “Even after whatever happened between me and Eminem, I have no ill will about it. I don’t think any kind of way about it. I respect what he did within hip-hop. He’s definitely one of the greats. I’m not saying he’s THE GREAT cause I already defined why. I do not have a problem with Eminem and I do not believe he has a problem with me.”
