Kid Cudi Calls Eminem Collaboration A "Top 5 Career Highlight," Invites Him To Podcast

Kid Cudi Calls Eminem GOAT, Invites Him to His Podcast

Posted on May 16, 2026 By Remy Gelenidze

In a new episode of the Big Bro podcast, Kid Cudi opened up about his profound respect for Eminem, reflecting on the surreal experience of collaborating with Detroit legend. The two powerhouse artists famously joined forces in 2020 for the hit single “The Adventures Of Moon Man & Slim Shady,” a track that seamlessly merged their distinct sonic worlds. Looking back on how the monumental link-up originally came together, Cudi revealed that the initial connection was fueled by sheer ambition and a shot in the dark.

“Eminem is my GOAT. And I just thought of him on that record and I was like ‘let me just reach out and see what happens.’ And he was with it. We were texting each other and he was just praising me like ‘dude, that part of the song, you just bodied it!’ And I was like, ‘yo, Eminem is texting me and showing me love on my verse on our song?!'” Cudi shared, still carrying the same pure excitement he felt when those messages first hit his phone.

For Cudi, getting the nod of approval from a lyricist of that caliber wasn’t just a standard professional win—it was a defining milestone in his artistic journey. He emphasized how much that validation meant to him, pointing out that Eminem represents something far larger to the community than just chart-topping success. “It was truly one of the top five highlights of my career. I love Eminem. This culture loves Eminem. He’s very down to earth dude. He’s a great example for people in the world that have dealt with things and were able to overcome them. That was a huge moment.”

The conversation then shifted to Cudi’s roots as a fan, long before he became a multi-platinum innovator himself. He vividly recalled the seismic impact of Marshall Mathers entering the rap landscape in the late ’90s, tracing his admiration all the way back to his early teenage years. “I remember when his first album came out. The Slim Shady LP. I remember listening to that s–t in high school 9th grade, over and over. Bumping that s–t over and over again. Just being blown the f–king way by the level of skill that he had as a rapper. And also on top of that, Dr. Dre production. I was there when Eminem dropped his first album. It was the moment!”

That foundational era of modern hip-hop left an indelible mark on Cudi, who watched Eminem evolutionize the genre with his sophomore masterpiece. To transition from a 9th grader studying those legendary cassettes to a peer sharing the marquee with Slim Shady remains a full-circle moment of epic proportions. “And when The Marshall Mathers LP came out with ‘Stan‘ on there. Like, c’mon bro! So to do a record with him was a big moment. Shout out to Eminem. We gotta have you on podcast. That got to be a moment. We love you bro.”

With the open invitation now hanging in the air, a potential sit-down between Kid Cudi and Eminem on the podcast would undoubtedly stand as an instant classic for music fans. Until then, “The Adventures Of Moon Man & Slim Shady” remains a stellar testament to what happens when an artist dares to reach out to their ultimate idol. Cudi’s heartfelt tribute serves as a poignant reminder of Shady’s enduring legacy and the deep mutual respect that binds hip-hop’s most influential voices together.
