Eminem & Hailie arrive at Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame ceremony

Eminem will be part of the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame’s class of 2022, inducted today, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. He will join the other performer inductees that night, including Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo, Duran Duran, Eurythmics, Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie and Carly Simon.

Slim Shady will become part of the Hall’s hip-hop corps that also includes legendary acts like Eminem-inducted Run-D.M.C., LL Cool J, whom he performed with during last year’s ceremony, The Notorious B.I.G., N.W.A, Public Enemy, Tupac Shakur and Jay-Z, the iconic rappers who influenced one of the greatest rappers in history.

In doing so, he also becomes part of the ongoing discussion about whether rappers belong in the Rock Hall.

“It’s an odd sort of thing, sure. It’s something that I think a lot of people are struggling with, especially as time goes on because the face of music has changed a lot, and it continues to evolve. If it were just strictly rock n’ roll by traditional standards I think they would be hard-pressed to find enough people to induct 10, 15, 20 years from now. So I think they have to change with the times and not bend their beliefs but change their way of thinking a bit. I think the fact that they have inducted people like LL and Run-D.M.C. is great. I think Em would like to see a lot more rappers get recognized in the same fashion.” said Eminem’s manager and long time friend, Paul Rosenberg.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be simulcast today on SiriusXM’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Radio channel (310) and on Volume on the SXM App. HBO will film the event to air at 8 p.m. ET on November 18, 2022.

Rock Hall CEO says Eminem’s music is “As hard hitting as any Metal song”

In a recent interview with Taryn Daly of Audacy, President and CEO of Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Greg Harris says that Eminem’s music “is as hard-hitting and straight ahead as any metal song.” as the legendary Detroit rapper was announced a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class of 2022 inductees, few days ago.

“For a lot of years people asked about hip hop. He is the tenth artist to be sort of categorized that way. But you listen to his music, it is as hard-hitting and straight ahead as any metal song. It is right there. It is a chest punch with a message and with a power and with a rhythm and with a band. We are thrilled he is going in his first year of eligibility, it is a big statement.” – said Greg.

The Rock Hall’s website credits Eminem as: “Unbridled controversy. Unparalleled talent. Unmatched superstardom… Solidified hip-hop as the most commercially successful music on the planet.”

You can listen to the new interview below. Talking about Em starts from 10:50.

Eminem gets nominated at Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame 2022 – VOTE NOW

Today, Eminem was nominated for entry into music’s most elite club: Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. Marshall Mathers is the only one of the 17 contenders to receive a nomination in his first year of eligibility, which is 25 years after a recording’s debut.

When the honorees are revealed in May, if Eminem gets crowned, he will become only the second white hip-hop artist to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, following the Beastie Boys, who were inducted in 2012.

Slim Shady would be only the seventh rapper to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, with Jay-Z being the most recent rapper.

Eminem — who will be performing alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar and Mary J. Blige at the Super Bowl halftime show on February 13 — is probably the only slam dunk to be inducted in a wide range of nominees this year. Other first-time nominees include Beck, Duran Duran, Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie, Carly Simon and A Tribe Called Quest.

Fan voting has started. As the official website says the top five artists, as selected by the public, will comprise a “fans’ ballot” that will be tallied along with the other ballots to choose the 2022 inductees. Fans will need to login to Hall Of Fame website to vote. Voting is capped at one ballot per day.

Currently Pat Benatar is leading the result with more than 8000 votes. Eminem is at 3,700 votes. VOTE EMINEM NOW!
