Angry Nicki Minaj shows love to Eminem following NFL & JAY-Z snubbing Lil Wayne over Kendrick Lamar

Couple of days ago, Kendrick Lamar was announced as the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show headliner (Sunday, September 8, 2024), and part of the hip-hop world spoke up about Lil Wayne being overlooked with the 2025 big game being in his hometown of New Orleans.

Considering the year K. Dot has had with the massive success of his Drake diss track, “Not Like Us,” the decision wasn’t necessarily a surprising one. However, according to some hip-hop artists, Weezy should have been chosen to headline the show—especially since it’s in Wayne’s hometown.

Wayne’s longtime collaborator Nicki Minaj has also expressed her disappointment in NFL and lashed out on JAY-Z (who is adviser on selecting artists for major NFL performances) on X (formerly twitter. She also showed love to Eminem for not doing 2022 Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show without 50 Cent: “Denying a young black man what he rightfully put into this game for no other reason but your ego. Your hatred for BIRDMAN, Drake & Nicki got you punishing Lil Wayne?!?!!! LIL WAYNE!!!!!!!!!! THE GOAT?!!!!!!!!!!! Nola what’s good?!!!!!! Eminem stood firm on having 50Cent come out. A white man. S–t sad. House NI-GER TINGZ. but it’s GOOD FI DEM!!!!!!! No loyalty ? Welp. then ni-gaz will keep son’ing you!!!!! #DTLR #GagCityDC LMFAOOOOOOOOOO GOODAZ FI DEL GAL U AH GOODAZ FI DEM.” she tweeted.

Nicki appreciates the fact that a white man (Eminem) is helping his black friend (50 Cent) but a black man (JAY-Z) is not doing the same for a black man (Lil Waye). As you might know, Eminem refused to perform at the 2022 Super Bowl without 50 Cent.

Then she continued in the next tweet: “And btw, you don’t know the half of what lil Wayne has done for me & others. Wayne had drake & I on his tour w/no papers signed. He was on all of my mixtapes w/no papers signed. This man has literally changed the FACE of hip hop. The hair too. IYKYK. He inspired so many to tat their faces & get locks. Inspired your faves to wanna be a great MC. he never was in this for the money. It’s always been for the love of music. #GagCityDC TONIGHT #DTLR.” Check the tweets below.

Eminem shouts out Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Joyner Lucas & Wu-Tang on “Renaissance”

On Friday (July 12, 2024),  after 4 years break, Eminem returned with 12th solo  studio album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coupe de Grâce). The project opens with the intro track titled “Renaissance,” which finds Slim Shady name-dropping several rappers, giving them credits

“Now let’s travel inside the mind of a hater / ‘Cause I don’t see no fans, all I see’s a bunch of complainers / ‘Kendrick‘s album was cool, but it didn’t have any bangers / Wayne‘s album or Ye‘s, couldn’t tell you which one was lamer / Joyner’s album was corny, Shady’s new s–t is way worse / Everything is either too tame or there’s too much anger / I didn’t like the beat, so I hated Might Delete Later‘ / You nerdy pricks would find somethin’ wrong with 36 Chambers / It’s what they do to the greats / Pick apart a Picasso and make excuses to hate / So you can wait for your flowers until you’re blue in the face / Stupid, you ain’t gonna get ’em until your funeral.” raps Eminem.

Some hip-hop fans on X, formerly known as Twitter, believe the lyrics are shots at K-Dot and others namedropped but Em is clearly giving credit to them. He’s obviously speaking in the third person through the outlook of a hater and is not dissing Dot or the other MCs he named. However, the same can’t be said for Ja Rule who catches a stray on the song “Guilty Conscience 2.”

Lil Wayne includes Eminem in his top 5 rappers of all time

In a new interview with Cam Heyward for his podcast Not Just Football, Lil Wayne was asked who are the Top 5 rappers of all time and he did not hesitate to put Drake up there with some notable Hip-Hop heavyweights, not mentioning Kendrick Lamar.

“My Top 5 rappers of all time, Lil Wayne, Weezy Babu, Tunechi…Nah, I’m f–king s–ting. My top 5 are JAY-Z, Missy Elliott, Eminem, ummm… The Notorious B.I.G. — oh, and this is no specific order right here — and Drizzy.” said the New Orleans native.

In an August interview with Billboard last year to celebrate the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, Lil Wayne said his favorite rappers were Missy, Hov, Biggie, Goodie Mob, and UGK. He shared that same list on What’s Wright? with Nick Wright in 2022. But I guess there is a difference between “Top 5 rappers of all time” and his “Top 5 favorite rappers.”

Elsewhere in the interview with Heyward, Wayne provided an update on his next major studio album, Tha Carter VI. “Carter VI when? I don’t remember that, actually. It’s soon, though, because it’s what’s next from me. It’s coming out next, actually. I’m not sure of the actual date but it is my next project.” Later on he said the record is complete and he’s editing it down now. “It’s been done,” Lil Wayne said. You can watch the video below:

White Gold says “Hey Slim” track with Eminem never coming out

Are you ready to get on a new Eminem album hype train? Then…jump in. Yesterday, a user on X who goes by the username @davidhayes1017 and calls himself ‘Music Industry Insider,’ tweeted: “Rihanna, Lil Wayne, & White Gold are listed as TBA Guest Features for an Album under “Unknown” with “Rapper” on the title. Unless there’s a mistake on the Uploader’s End who posted the Slate for March 15th. Next week is empty for Hip Hop besides this artist. It isn’t Kanye.

As the user’s description says, he’s MEDIA PRODUCER, Film Director/Producer. Boxing Analysts and Emmy Award Winning Journalist. He even made a poll asking fans who they think is dropping on March 15 and Eminem dominates with more than 90% of the votes. That’s how hungry Slim Shady fans are right now.

Under the initial tweet, someone commented: “White Gold previewed a track where he starts singing “Hey, slim”. Em has been in the studio for some time, he also confirmed he’s working on “a little something”. And both Rihanna and Wayne are possible features for a new Em project! Do you know anything else about this drop?” On that, White Gold replied: “That song is never coming out…I hadn’t even sent it. It was just an idea I was working on that I forgot to put in my close friends. Sorry.

This lyrics of the song mentions “Slim” and references “As The World Turns,” a 1999 song where Eminem appears entirely as Slim Shady, an alias which represents the dark and impulsive side of his personality. The intro of the snippet goes like this: “Hey Slim, wanna get wasted? / You got all the money in the world, I know your bored / No, but really, Slim / You know you can have 2 million hoes when you tour, maybe more / Look, I thought you was a rapper / Besides the money, ain’t this what you doin’ it for? / Maybe I’m wrong, and as the world turns / You know the public is movin’ on from you, right?”

White Gold and Eminem have previously collaborated on two tracks, “You Gon’ Learn” with Royce 5’9″ and “Zeus”, both from Music To Be Murdered By album. Couple of years ago, the musician hinted that more songs with Em was on the way.

In some related news, few hours ago, Mr. Cii, who previously remixed Eminem’s “Rap God” which finally ended up as a surprise bonus track on Slim Shady’s second greatest hits album Curtain Call 2. On January 16th 2022, Mr. Cii commented on a Paul Rosenberg Twitter post to check out a remix he made. Paul saw the comment and asked for a Dropbox link to which Mr. Cii would send the song. Maybe Mr. Cii got another banger for Em?

Nelly says ’00s was toughest era in hip-hop cause he had to compete Eminem, 50 Cent & more

During his recent interview on The Shop, Nelly reflected on how the Grammy Awards show needed to do right by artists and how tough it was to get recognized around the time he emerged in 2000. Nelly came onto the scene like a bat out of hell with his debut album titled Country Grammar, which spawned three top 20 Billboard Hot 100 singles, and he had a strong argument for best new artist.

However, as Nelly explained on The Shop, he wasn’t even nominated in that category at the Grammys, which Alicia Keys won. Pair that with Nelly competing with rap titans such as JAY-Z, Eminem, DMX, and more in the hip-hop space, and you have the context behind his statement.

You gotta understand, my era of music was the toughest era in hip-hop ever. Ever! When I put out songs, I had to go against DMX, JAY-Z, Eminem, Lil Wayne, 50 Cent, Ludacris – all of us are fighting for one spot. So from 99 to like 2008, 10? It’s the hardest era ever.” said Nelly.

One of the hosts of the show, Cedric The Entertainer instantly recalled JAY-Z’s lines from “Excuse Me Miss,” rapping: “Only dudes movin’ units – Em, Pimp Juice and us.” Jay says that Eminem, Nelly and his crew are the only ones selling major amounts of albums. Nelly has a song called “Pimp Juice” which Hov refers to Nelly as.

At the time Eminem’s album The Eminem Show was the No. 1 album in the world until Nelly’s album Nellyville took over. Jigga’s album The Blueprint² The Gift & The Curse was later released in November of that year. Ja Rule responded to Jay’s line in Black Child’s song “Bang Bang Bang” where he tells Hov to check the SoundScan again because Ja Rule was actually selling more albums than him at the time: “For those who check SoundScan / Check again, it’s Rule, Pimp Juice and Eminem / As it’s been since the last three albums I turned in.” raps  Ja.

Lil Wayne & Terence Crawford show love to Eminem

The undisputed boxing champion Terence Crawford sat down with Lil Wayne on Episode 3 of Season 2 of Weezy’s Young Money radio show on Apple Music where the two talked about Eminem walking out with Crawford against Errol Spence fight last summer.

Lil Wayne: I hope you realize how much of a legend you are cause you got Eminem to walk out with you. He don’t do that for nobody. Man, Em don’t even come out for shows, nothing.

Terence Crawford: “Man, I was thrown by that. When he comment on my status, my post on my Instagram, I was just like ‘WOW!’. Then I commented on it and he replied and hit me in the inbox, I was like ‘oh, it’s really going down.’ I was kinda skeptical until he got there and we got there, I was like ‘oh, this is real!’. Everything worked out like the way it was supposed to.

Lil Wayne: Shout out to Em man. I saw him at Tyson fight too. Tyson Fury fight. He was up there and I was like ‘damn, they got Em come way out here?!’ And he had like million people around him and it looks so aggravating.

Crawford defeated Spence via ninth-round technical knockout to become the first male to win the undisputed championship in two weight classes in the four belt era.

Lil Wayne gives high praise to Eminem’s Battle Rap skills

Lil Wayne has recently sat down with Taylor Rooks to discuss his song with Kevin Durant, why he’s the LeBron James of rap and how his experience has helped him become a better artist. The 5x Grammy winner also opens up about the evolution of the industry, wanting to perform at the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show and being proud of Drake’s success. Lil Wayne also offers advice to Angel Reese and predicts Ja Morant to be the next face of the NBA. At one point of the interview, Weezy talked about what makes hip-hop competitive and brought Eminem as an example.

“I was around when rap music was competitive. I was around when there was such thing called ‘battle rap.’ That was an art form of rap where I can literally…It was almost almost comedic. What I mean by that is, a comedian can, you know, they roast each other. They don’t mean nothing by it.” said Lil Wayne.

Then he continued: “Battle rap was the same. You got these people. They standing in the circle and you know…Eminem might take your head off about something you felt great about yourself in the mirror before you got there, you know, and then they come back and do the same. So, that was an art form. They had people that, to this day, there’s battle raps that went down and they are not filmed, they aren’t recorded and there are legends come out of that because of that. We don’t have that no more. I was around during that.”

Lil Wayne reacts to Eminem & Juice WRLD new song

DJ Whoo Kid has recently shared a clip from his interview with Lil Wayne that happened about a month ago where the two briefly talked about new Eminem and Juice WRLD song, “Lace It,” which was not yet released at that time.

Whoo Kid: Shout out to Eminem, I think he sent me a joint with Juice WRLD. RIP Juice WRLD. So we are going to get into that.

Lil Wayne: Ugh, RIP… Wait, wait! Em got a joint with Juice WRLD? That’s hard! It’s so cool. That made me feel awesome! That made me feel good. Em cool for that.

Keep in mind that the interview was recorded about a month ago, weeks before “Lace It” song dropped. You can watch it below:

Who would Nicki Minaj “Shag, Marry, Kill” between Eminem, Lil Wayne & Drake?

To promote her new album Pink Friday 2, Nicki Minaj has recently visit Andy Cohen on “Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen” show, where she revealed that her documentary will most definitely be released despite the delay.

“It’s going to be a great experience for my fans…What happened was, because my album was not done when I was going to originally put it out, I didn’t want the documentary to come out without the music. That would’ve made no sense to people.” she said.

Then she continued: “Because of that, that network, they had to go with something else and I couldn’t force a documentary out either. I wouldn’t have wanted it to come out right now because then it would take time from them really being able to really listen to music. And so now that they’ve digested the music, when the documentary comes, it’ll be a different level of emotional roller coaster I think.”

Nicki Minaj also played “Shag, Marry, Kill” during her visit. After the Shag Roulette machine spun, Lil Wayne, Drake and Eminem popped up. Now Nicki has to make the choice: Which one to shag, which one to marry and which one to kill. Here is what she replied: “HOW DARE YOU?! You know I would never say that but let me put my thought outside of my brain. Can I shag two and marry one? I’ll shag ‘pf mta’ and I’ll marry ‘braa’.

Eminem reacts to Lil Wayne’s new song with YG & Tyga

After teasing fans with a couple of songs, the full album from Tyga and YG is finally out!

Hit Me When U Leave The Klub: The Playlist arrived after the duo created hype with singles like “West Coast Weekend,” featuring Blxst, “Party Time” and the latest one “Brand New” with Lil Wayne.

The album includes 14 tracks in total with additional guest appearance from none other than Busta Rhymes.

In the song called “Brand New,” Lil Wayne raps: “Yeah, brand new money, brand new hundreds / Got a bunch of zeros like a bag of new Funyuns.”

Funyuns are onion flavored rings that are of a round shape. Lil Wayne is saying that he has millions in his bank account, hence “bunch of zeros.” Zeros are also round, just like Funyuns.

It seems Eminem was impressed with those lines as the Detroit legend tweeted: “Bro Wayne just said “got a bunch of zeros like a bag of new funyuns!!” F–K why didn’t I think of that????”

J. Cole says Eminem & Tupac are the North Stars that he was always following

J. Cole has talked openly about the Hip Hop icons who motivated him to strive for excellence and establish himself as a prominent figure in rap.

Cole has recently sat down with Kevin Hart for the latest episode of Hart to Heart podcast on Peacock, where he paid homage to some of the game’s legends that paved the way like Eminem and 2Pac.

“I got a whole list of people who are the reason why I’m here — They don’t even know it but they are north stars that I was following. Obviously, Pac. Jay, Nas, Eminem, André 3000, Lil Wayne. And these are obviously the big bullets.” Cole said.

Then he continued: “I had Royce Da 5’9″ moments. I had Canibus moments. I had Boom Boom moments. But like in terms of the people that fueled my ambition. That showed me what was really possible. Like the first names I named, those are the highest ones. So those were the people where I was like, ‘Yo, I’m tryna get up there.’ In terms of skill, in terms of success, all of that they fueled it.”

Lil Wayne admits he was scared of Eminem collaboration

During a recent interview with New York Magazine, celebrating 50 years of hip-hop, Lil Wayne admitted that he was little scared when he called Eminem for a collaboration, probably referring to his 2009 single “Drop The World” from his seventh solo studio album, Rebirth.

In a new interview, Lil Wayne said:

I was scared, actually, when I called EMINEM for a song. That is a monster. He must have the same thing I have with words. Like, we can’t get them out of our heads. Every meaning, every aspect of them. Things that rhyme, we hear it. I already know the gift and the curse that he has. And I love to hear the way he puts it together.

Lil Wayne and Eminem have a mutual respect. Appearing on Young Money Podcast back in 2020, Eminem gave high praise to Lil Wayne: “I love when rappers are able to tell a story and don’t compromise any of the punchlines. It’s great to see you and me still doing it. It’s definitely an art to this sh*t and, man, you got it mastered.”

Eminem also admitted that he was jealous of Weezy when was on a hiatus. “Hatred was flowin’ through my veins, on the verge of goin’ insane, I almost made a song dissin’ Lil Wayne, It’s like I was jealous of him ’cause of the attention he was gettin’, I felt horrible about myself, he was spittin’, And I wasn’t, anyone who was buzzin’ back then coulda got it, Almost went at Kanye too, God, it, Feels like I’m goin’ psychotic, thank God that I didn’t do it
I’da had my a– handed to me, and I knew it.” raps Slim Shady on “Talkin’ 2 Myself”
