Kendrick Lamar appears to be inspired by Eminem in a new song with Future & Metro Boomin

Since Metro Boomin and Future unleashed the first of their two joint albums, titled WE DON’T TRUST YOU, social media blew up on Friday (Mar. 22, 2024), courtesy of an explosive verse detonated by the one and only Kendrick Lamar. On the song called “Like That,” K. Dot throws several jabs, suggestively targeting two of the best rappers in the game, J. Cole and Drake.

“Yeah, get up with me, f–k sneak dissing/ ‘First Person Shooter,’ I hope they came with three switches,” Kendrick spits on his guest verse. “First Person Shooter” is the collaborative song Drake and Cole released last year on which the latter boasted: “Love when they argue the hardest MC/ Is it K-Dot? Is it Aubrey? Or me?/We the big three like we started a league.”

Kendrick Lamar didn’t stop there, as he continued firing more shots at Dreezy and Jermaine. “Think I won’t drop the location? I still got PTSD/ Motherf–k the Big 3, n-gga, it’s just big me,” he raps. Lamar then seemingly aimed directly at Drake, saying: “‘Fore all your dogs gettin’ buried, that’s a K with all these nines, he gon’ see Pet Sematary.” For context, Drake’s last album is titled For All The Dogs that came out in 2023.

Kendrick firing shots at his peers overshadowed some interesting lines he had in the middle of his verse, which appears to be inspired by Eminem‘s actions against Melle Mel. “I crash out, like, “F–k rap,” diss Melle Mel if I had to.” raps Kendrick.

Melle Mel was the lead rapper and songwriter of Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five, the 1970’s New York hip-hop collective that not only pioneered the art of rapping, but the genre of hip-hop altogether. To diss Melle Mel would be dissing rap and hip-hop itself, which Kendrick is well aware of and willing to do if necessary, meaning no one is safe. Lamar may be drawing parallels to the infamous 2023 beef between Detroit legend Eminem and Melle Mel.

The beef started back in a March 2023  with Art of Dialogue interview where Mel suggested that Slim Shady’s No. 5 placement on Billboard’s top 50 Rappers of All Time list was because of him being white. Em would go on to respond with a diss on “Realest,” a July 2023 track by Shady Records’ recent signee Ez Mil where Em claimed Melle Mel lost his mind to steroid use. Melle Mel replied in a diss of his own which was poorly received to the point Melle Mel had deleted the track and issued public apology for the song and for starting the beef itself.

Aries Spears says its easy to imitate Future but Eminem is unique

Stand-up comedian, impressionist and actor Aries Spears has recently sat down with DJ VLAD where he briefly talked about current state of hip-hop.

“Who else sounded like Q-Tip? Everybody sounds like Future. Everybody from this era! Future sounds little like…there’s some similarities with Migos. Eminem didn’t create the style that all of a sudden everybody went like ‘we doing that,’ Jay-Z didn’t create the style that everybody went ‘we doing that.’ Snoop didn’t do that. Biggie didn’t do that. Mobb Deep didn’t do that. Everybody had their own s–t.” Aries Spears said.

“Now, yes, certain things might have sounded the same in terms of regional. East Coast ni–as have a certain sound but there still was individuality in the delivery and cadence.” he added.

50 Cent says Eminem should be No. 1 on Billboard/Vibe Top 50 greatest rappers of all time

50 Cent has recently joined MSNBC’s Ari Melber to discuss his new television broadcast deal with Fox network and the 2024 election. Plus, Fif celebrates 20 years of “Get Rich or Die Tryin,” and reflects on making music alongside Dr. Dre and Eminem. The New York legend also shares his thoughts on Billboard/Vibe magazine’s list of 50 Greatest Rappers Of All Time and comments on Jay-Z vs Future street influence.

“Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar and Nas top 3? Nah, they are still good artists but all time? No. I do not know who should be number one artist. It depends on a time period. And how do you not look at number one selling artist if we are in business? If we are in business, then you have to look at number one selling artist, because it’s a business!” says 50 Cent.

Then he continues: “I am talking about Eminem when I’m saying that. Em sold 90 million records [in the United States]. The bridge, when you see these Lamborghinis, Ferraris and Bentleys, there are no Lamborghinis and Ferraris for you to buy from Hip-Hop culture if there is no consumer base. If they don’t see where they fit into the culture then there is no reason to support and buy it.”

People are like ’50 just loves Eminem so much,’ yeah! I LOVE HIM TO DEATH

– 50 Cent (Feb. 18, 2023)

“So, right now them guys at home are like ‘O, 50 just loves Eminem so much,’ yeah! I LOVE HIM TO DEATH. I do love Em to death. I am looking at it and I am saying why would people be interested in it enough to consume it without it being marketed to them directly for them to feel like they are part of it.” Fif added.

As you might already know, Billboard/Vibe magazines have recently unveiled the updated list of The 50 Greatest Rappers Of All Time and ranked Eminem and 50 Cent at No. 5 and No. 17 respectively.

Fif was also asked to describe names with one word. Here is how it went: Eminem – the best, Lloyd Banks – cool, Tony Yayo – loyalty, Future – talent, Nas – the best, Jay-Z – good business, Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ – classic.

ATL Jacob talks how he managed Eminem & Future to use same beat that he produced

ATL Jacob has recently sat down with VLAD TV, where he talked about giving Eminem and Future the same beat. Future used the instrumental on his 2019 album “The Wizrd” on a song called “Talk S–t Like A Preacher” and Eminem on 2020’s “Music To Be Murdered By” song titled “Book Of Rhymes,” featuring DJ Premier.

“The song ‘Talk S–t Like A Preacher’ by Future, that’s the same beat as Eminem’s ‘Book Of Rhymes.’ I gave the beat to Future. Future was not feeling it. I thought he wasn’t, so Eminem randomly called me like, randomly, I didn’t even know he’d get my number. I sent him that beat. Dre was like ‘bro, Eminem loved this beat. We ready to sing it off as soon as possible.’ Em was willing to give me $30,000 for it. I was getting $10,000 from Future. So I was like, ‘cool, let’s set it up.'” – said ATL Jacob

Then he continues: “Then probably a week later, Future told me we gonna put this beat on the album. He let me hear it. I’m like ‘bro Eminem wants to use this.’ So it was like a choice between give it to Eminem for $30k or give it to brother Future for $10k. It was just loyalty so I gave it to Future. I let Eminem know like ‘Man, I didn’t eve know Future used that beat, he loved it and it’s going to be on his album. So we ended up still working it out even though Future dropped it.”

“It’s crazy cause Em is one of my favorite rappers. He’s hard… I though it was cap when they first called me, like someone pretending to be Eminem. Then I thought Travis Scott interview where he was like ‘T.I. just randomly called his number’ and they I thought s–t it ‘s probably real Eminem and might be one of those situations.” ATL added.

Akademiks laughs at Adin Ross saying ‘Eminem is GOAT,’ says Drake, Kanye West, Lil Wayne & Future would wash Eminem in Verzuz

If there is a person who is going to go hard for Eminem, it’s DJ Akademiks.

Jamaica-born DJ and media personality has been throwing shades at Detroit legend for a minute now. He even got Eminem’s attention back in 2018 when Akademiks called “Revival” album trash and the Rap God dropped “Kamikaze” album.

On a track titled “Fall,” Eminem raps: “Somebody tell Budden before I snap, he better fasten it / Or have his body bag get zipped / The closest thing he’s had to hits is smackin’ bitches (Pump it up!) And don’t make me have to give it back to Akademiks / Say this shit is trash again, I’ll have you twisted / Like you had it when you thought you had me slippin’ at the telly (Yeah) / Even when I’m gettin’ brain, you’ll never catch me with a thot.”

Yesterday, Akademiks was streaming with Adin Ross when the DJ once again discredited Eminem’s place in hip-hop when Adin declared Em as the greatest rapper of all time.

“Eminem versus Drake or Lil Wayne? Are you kidding me ni**a? Adin you f**kin stupid ni**a? Kanye West will also wash that ni**a. What you gonna play? Lose Yourself ni**a? Or Till I Collapse? Get the hell outta here! Kanye is stepping on Eminem, Drake is stepping on Eminem, Lil Wayne is stepping on Eminem. Future not washing Eminem?!?!” said Akademiks.

Future shouts out Eminem in a new song from new album “I Never Liked You”

Future has released his ninth solo studio album I NEVER LIKED YOU (DELUXE). It features new collaborations with Lil Durk, Young Scooter, Lil Baby, Babyface Ray and 42 Dugg.

The album includes a song titled “No Security,” which features Detroit rapper Babyface Ray. In a song, Future gives Eminem a shout out with the following lines:

“Takin’ pics with junkies and I’m ridin’ ’round with Eminem
It’s some robbers and killers ’round here, that’s where I’m at”

According to Genius annotation: Future references the duality of his lifestyle, poor vs rich. On one hand, he can hang around with people from lower-class areas, mainly because he used to live in such a situation.

On the other hand, he’s mentioned in the same conversation with legendary rappers such as Eminem. Although Future and Em have never collaborated before, Future did receive writing credits on Em’s track ‘’Book Of Rhymes’’, off his ‘’Music to Be Murdered By: Side B’’ album in 2020.
