Detroit legend Eminem has teamed up with Crypto.com for the company’s latest advertising campaign. The commercial, first shared by Eminem on X (formerly Twitter), has featured his voice narration.
The campaign is set to make a splash during a high-visibility slot this Saturday at the NBA Playoff game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Clippers at the Crypto.com Arena, Crypto.com shared in a statement.
Following the premiere, the ad will continue to feature in a series of high-profile sporting events including additional NBA Playoff games with the Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Kings, the Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix running from May 3-5, and the upcoming UFC events where Crypto.com also serves as the Official Fight Kit Partner.
Steven Kalifowitz, Chief Marketing Officer at Crypto.com, underscored the comprehensive nature of the campaign. He stated: “Crypto.com has become one of the most recognized global brands by partnering with iconic people, places, and events. Our latest brand film builds on this theme and reiterates our deep conviction for our industry and the community building it responsibly.”
This is not Eminem’s first interaction with crypto. His engagement with crypto dates back to at least 2018, when he mentioned Bitcoin in a track on his “Kamikaze” album. The artist also made headlines in 2022 when he purchased a Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT for 123.45 ETH, worth around $462,000 at the time of purchase. Crypto.com’s campaign also revives the potent slogan “Fortune favors the brave,” famously voiced by actor Matt Damon in an earlier ad for the company.
In the video, that features Eminem’s uncrowned Recovery anthem “Cinderella Man,” Eminem says: “They ignored your potentials. Dissed your achievements. Mocked your ambition. But it’s not the critic who counts and you know that. From the beginning, you could not be stopped. Breaking resistance with every swing and block. Your game plan never changed. Eminem has just announced that he will be dropping his new album, “The Death Of Slim Shady: Coup De Grâce” this summer. Well, Southpawer already has you covered with a solid theory of what to expect.
I believe Eminem just secretly revealed he’s shooting a music video for the movie Joker 2 Folie à Duex. Here’s my evidence:
First of all, look at the title of Eminem’s new album title in comparison to the new Joker movie. “The Death Of Slim Shady: Coup De Grâce” and “Joker 2: Folie à Duex.” Both titles are written half in English and half in French.
Next, let’s go back to 2013, the last time Eminem had beef with Slim. On the song “Evil Twin” he referenced his potential suicide note being signed by the Joker. Perhaps 10 years later, when Slim Shady dies, we’ll find a forged suicide note attached to his body, signed by The Joker. I admit this one is a bit of a stretch, but maybe this is Eminem’s subconscious spilling the beans.

We also know that Joker 2 is a musical film with a 200 million dollar budget. They are spending a lot of money, and maybe they’re using it to afford musical talent. We know Eminem loves appearing on soundtracks. Just to name a few, he’s been on Southpaw, Venom and most recently, Elvis. A horror-esque movie musical has Eminem’s name written all over it.
Thanks to a famous clown dancing scene in the first Joker movie, these stairs have become very iconic. Set photos have shown that they’re going to appear in the sequel as well. Maybe they’re even going to appear in Eminem’s next music video. Slim Shady seemed to have picked a very interesting spot to die on. I think this staircase is a fairly obvious nod to the famous stairs seen in the movies.
Even if I’m wrong about all of this, I have one final clue that I think will convince any reader. When Eminem dropped the trailer for the new album yesterday, I assumed it was mostly old footage being used until I noticed one detail. If you pause and zoom in, you’ll notice what appears to be a Joker scar cut into the corner of Eminem’s mouth. It’s blink and you’ll miss it but it’s there. This also means that Eminem shaved his beard for something. That’s the first time before Revival as far as we know.

Last night, Eminem announced his new album title The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace), by way of a true crime-themed trailer. It aired during the 2024 NFL Draft, which took place in Slim Shady’s hometown of Detroit. The trailer displays an advertisement for a faux TV series called Detroit Murder Files that is covering the death of his iconic alter ego, Slim Shady.
“Through his complex and oft-criticized, tongue-twisting rhymes, the anti-hero known as Slim Shady has had no shortage of enemies,” the narrator announces. Then his long-time friend and collaborator 50 Cent makes a cameo in clip saying, “He’s not a friend, he’s a psychopath.”
The narrator then continues: “The same rude lyrics and controversial antics may have ultimately led to his demise. Join me as we recreate the events that led to the murder of Slim Shady.” Eminem makes an appearance as the trailer closes, noting: “I knew it was only a matter of time for Slim.” And a graphic then notes: The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace) Summer 2024.
It sounds like Metro Boomin wants in on the new Shady LP. “Somebody please tell Eminem I’m tryna lock in!!!” the super producer tweeted after the trailer was shared on social media by Eminem but he most likely won’t be featured on the album but who will make an appearance? Below is the list of artists and producers who are supposed to appear on the album based on their social media activities.
WHITE GOLD Singer, songwriter, and producer White Gold is definitely on the list. The Bronx, New York-born artist has previously collaborated with Eminem and Royce 5’9″ on several songs. Those tracks include “You Gon’ Learn” and “Zeus” from Eminem’s Music to Be Murdered By (Deluxe) album and “Black Savage” and “Hero” from Royce 5’9″s The Allegory album. White Gold shared Eminem’s new album trailer on his Instagram with the caption: “Summer 2024. See you then.” And that makes us think another Gold & Slim track is on the way.
DEM JOINTZ Aftermath producer Dem Jointz, who is locked in the studio with Dr. Dre almost all the time and who has previously produced Dr. Dre’s “Medicine Man,” featuring Eminem, Candice Pillay and Anderson .Paak, Eminem’s “Never Love Again” and DJ Khaled’s “Use This Gospel (Remix),” featuring Kanye West and Eminem, shared Eminem’s teaser-trailer video on his Instagram with the caption: “THE DEATH of SLIM SHADY (COUP DE GRÂCE) This Summer’s Gone Be Crayzay!”

Another Aftermath producer, Fredwreck, the man who brought Slim Shady back on Revival album by producing “Framed” track. Flint, Michigan-born musician posted the teaser trailer on his Instagram story with the caption: “Summer 2024!!!! @eminem”
SKYLAR GREY
Eminem’s longtime collaborator Skylar Grey shared Eminem’s album trailer on her Instagram story, but that does not mean anything. She might just be supporting Em by doing so but considering how many tracks the two have created together through the years, it’s hard to imagine an Eminem album without Skylar Grey feature.
ROYCE DA 5’9″
There is no doubt Royce to be on the new Eminem album. Fans have been asking for Bad Meets Evil for more than a decade now so we might get another taste of the two top tier lyricist going back and forth. Em’s last solo studio album was 2020’s Music To Be Murdered By and Royce was a part of 4 tracks on the project. He was featured on “You Gon’ Learn,” featuring White Gold, “Yah Yah,” featuring Black Thought, Denaun and Q-Tip and “I Will,” featuring Kxng Crooked and Joell Ortiz. He also produced “Darkness” and “You Gon’ Learn.” Royce was also in the studio when Eminem played the album for Dr. Dre.

During his visit with Jimmy Kimmel, Dr. Dre confirmed that he got some heat on new Eminem album: “Let me tell you something. Let me explain something right now. Eminem is working on his own album which is coming out this year and I actually talked to him and he said it was okay for me to make that announcement right here on this show. So yeah, the album coming out, I got songs on it and it’s fire. I’m actually going to hear entire album for the first time tomorrow. He holds his music close to his chest so I have not heard everything. I have not even heard everything complete that I’ve done but I’m gonna hear it and he’s putting out album this year. There are things on there that I have to mix that I’ve done but I got a chance to hear album in its entirety.”
50 CENT
New 50 Cent and Eminem banger is long overdue. During a recent conversation with DJ Whoo Kid, Em said: “50 Cent and Eminem collaboration album? Where that come from? I don’t know whose idea that was but that’s crazy. Yo, I’m trying to get him to make another album so bad. We need another 50 album, like, really bad bro. 50’s on the roll right now. He’s been on the roll since the tour and I told him he needs a f–king…whatever he needs from me, I’m here. That’s sh–t be crazy though, an album with me and him.”

The newest Shady Records signee was in the studio with Eminem during a listening session with Dr. Dre. Few days after that, Ez Mil went live on Instagram where he was acting shady when talking about the session and said that he can’t say a word about the potential new music with Em. The two have already made a song called “Realest” but a song on Eminem’s new album would be a great promotion for young Pipelines artist.

Metro took to X (formerly Twitter) after Eminem released the teaser trailer for his new album. The producer didn’t mince words. “Somebody please tell Eminem I’m tryna lock in,” he wrote next to three lock emojis. Metro has been one of the prolific artists in the genre for a decade, so it makes sense that he’d want to experiment. Metro has praised the Detroit rapper multiple times in the past. He hyped up Shady’s 2011 BET cypher on X. He also workshopped a “dream” album with Em in mind during a thread in January.
Metro Boomin said he wanted to create an album featuring all the rap stars of the early 2000s. One of the fans asked who he want to work with most, and he named Eminem as one of his top picks. Those who have followed Metro’s career should not be taken aback by his fandom.
While his beats sounds worlds apart from Eminem’s, the producer loves Em and Dr. Dre’s work on 2001. He told GQ that they the album was the inspiration for his own Heroes & Villains release. “You can still make great songs with artists, but as a producer, it’s like, what are you bringing. Current players and past legends joined NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and Detroit hip-hop icon Eminem on the draft stage in the heart of Campus Martius Park to start the 2024 NFL draft. Jared Goff, freshly-extended Amon-Ra St. Brown, Aidan Hutchinson, Calvin Johnson and Barry Sanders walked out onto the stage with a dramatic entrance.
Goodell came out first to a wave of boos, as is custom, then it turned into a raucous cheer when Eminem came out. Then, The Detroit Lions legends graced the stage, and the crowd went crazy. St. Brown, now $120 million richer, was the first player to greet the crowd. He welcomed the massive crowd in attendance and then started a chant for his quarterback standing behind him.
“Before we get off the stage, I need to hear one thing, JA-RED GOFF, JA-RED GOFF,” St. Brown said, before trailing off and letting the strong Honolulu blue contingent in attendance take it from there. Goff and Hutchinson also addressed the crowd. “Welcome to Detroit, let’s go baby!” Goff yelled into the mic. Hutchinson then took over, and also greeted the crowd standing under a massive poster of the franchise defensive end. “Let’s turn up tonight baby, let’s go!” The crowd then broke out into more Goff chants to fill in the silence before the Lions’ players exited the stage for the draft to begin.

In a new cover story by Essence, Big Sean revealed that he attempted to get Eminem to rap over a J Dilla beat, but the Detroit legend passed on the opportunity.
Eminem and Big Sean collaborated on 2020’s Detroit 2 album posse cut “Friday Night Cypher” alongside Tee Grizzley, Kash Doll, Cash Kidd, Payroll, 42 Dugg, Boldy James, Drego, Sada Baby and Royce Da 5’9″, but it wasn’t the first idea he had in mind.
Sean got his hands on an unreleased J Dilla beat for the project and sent it to Eminem, but the song never materialized — despite Em liking the instrumental: “It reminded me of an old Eminem. And when I sent it to Em, he was like, ‘Man, I like the Dilla beat, for sure. I get it.’ But Em preferred the beat for the Friday Night Cypher.”
This wasn’t the only Dilla production that Eminem passed on. Denaun Porter previously revealed that A Tribe Called Quest‘s “Get a Hold” — from their 1996 album Beats, Rhymes & Life — originally belonged to Eminem. “He had the illest song to that beat. Em had that beat before Tribe and them had it. Proof gave it to him. It was like, ‘Yo, I gotta get some Dilla beats,’ I don’t know if he recorded it, but he wrote it because I remember him writing it and I remember the song being ill as hell. The concept he had to it was crazy. Proof told Jay Dee, ‘Yo, Em wants this beat.’ And it might have been another beat too. But that song… when we heard it on the Tribe album, we were like, ‘Aww man!’ But it’s A Tribe Called Quest — what you gonna say? Dilla told him a price and I think Em was trying to get the money up for it or something because we were broke. Mind you, they would’ve got Slim Marshall. This was before ‘Just Don’t Give a F–k.’”
Speaking in a video posted to Instagram over the weekend, Cam’ron answered questions from the fans. When one of the users asked him if he thinks Eminem is one of the best rappers or not, here is what Harlem, New York-born rapper replied:
“Is Eminem one of the best rappers? Yes, Eminem is one of the best rappers. Look, what happens is, a lot of people say Eminem don’t be sayin’ nothin’ he just putting words together or whatever but you gotta realize you gotta do what works for you. If that works for Eminem, for him to make all the money he made and the Grammys and awards, he so rich that he can’t come outside by himself then that just works for Eminem.” – Cam’ron said.
Then he continued: “You gotta respect n-ggas that’s going to get their checks so when you hear Eminem saying he just put the words together, he lives… He’s from Middle America. Now when n-ggas say Middle America you gotta realize what Middle America is. For people who don’t know, Ohio is only five and a half hours from New York but they call it the mid-west. Why? I don’t know. So, in the Middle America, you got Ohio, you got Michigan, you got Kentucky, you got Wyoming, you got North Dakota. You got all these places so if that works for Eminem? Cool. If I was Eminem and that was paying my bills I would have been like *Rappity rap.* I’ll be doing all that for that chicken n-gga. You gotta go where the chicken at. Now, if you got mad money and you doing it for the love I dig that too. That’s different when you doing it for the love.”
“Lots of n-ggas say ‘yo I’m the realest, nobody realer than me, I’m the realest rap out.’ If it don’t translate it don’t matter. Real n-ggas can rap and the n-gga don’t give a f–k, it’s about selling it. If you can’t sell it, it don’t matter. You got bulletproof vest on, gun in both ankles… If they don’t believe you, they don’t believe you and you don’t matter. That’s that. So to answer your question, do I think Eminem is a good rapper? Yeah! I believe Eminem is a good rapper.” Cam’ron added.
Cam also spoke on his beef with 50 Cent: “When me and 50 Cent was going on, that s–t was fun. Shout out to my n-gga 50, we good now too. But when 50 dissed me, it started when 50 said Koch Entertainment is the graveyard for a lot of rappers. At the time, Jim Jones had just gone to Koch and Jim Jones is Dipset so we got into a whole argument on the phone. All that s–t to me was just music. Even when 50 and me spoke, he was like, ‘Let’s get to this money.’ When we spoke, we laughed about that s–t. Today, on April 20, 2024, iconic Detroit rapper Eminem celebrated 16 years of sobriety and of course we are delighted for him. While it may have seemed that Eminem was on top of the world at some point, he was actually battling a crippling addiction.
Slim Shady has been rather open about his battles and demons in the past, revealing he was once taking up to 30 Vicodin (an opioid that treats severe pain) a day as well as ‘anywhere from 40 to 60 Valium’ (a benzodiazepine that can help people be calm).
During the documentary titled How To Make Money Selling Drugs, Eminem said: “I don’t know at what point exactly it started to be a problem. I just remember liking it more and more. People tried to tell me that I had a problem. I would say, ‘Get that f***ing person outta here’. I’m not out there shooting heroin. I’m not out there f***ing putting coke up my nose. I’m not smoking crack.”
It got a lot worse for the rapper after that though, as he developed insomnia in the early 2000s. Following that, a friend introduced him to Ambien (a medication used to help people sleep), which acted as a gateway to other prescription pills. In 2007, Eminem hit rock bottom as he overdosed on methadone, a moment which was a defining moment in his recovery.
Marshall Mathers opened up about the horrifying experience in the same documentary: “The doctors told me I’d done the equivalent of four bags of heroin… Had I got to the hospital about two hours later, I would have died. My organs were shutting down. My liver, kidneys, everything. They were gonna have to put me on dialysis. They didn’t think I was gonna make it. My bottom was gonna be death.”

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Devon Sawa looks back over his career to one of the biggest projects he has ever worked on: the iconic 2000 music video for Eminem‘s “Stan,” from The Marshall Mathers LP album and reveals that the first choice for the video was “Home Alone” star Macaulay Culkin.
Vancouver, Canada-born actor has recently sat down with ET, while promoting the 3rd season of the horror TV shows “Chucky,” and he looked back at his past works as part of a career retrospective, and the cultural impact of his performance in the famous music video, playing the titular Stan.
“I will never forget, they told me on the day that I was going to lip-sync it. I remember, after the first take I did, Dre running in and being like, ‘It was good, but can you try it with some rhythm this time?’ And I was like, ‘Oh my god.’ And that was kind of how the day went. But it’s such an iconic video. Dr. Dre was there, D12 was there, I think Snoop was wandering around, Cypress Hill. It was just such a wild three days of filmmaking, it was amazing.” said Devon Sawa.
Then he continued: “They went out to Macaulay Culkin first. I think that they wanted Macaulay Culkin, and he wasn’t available, or didn’t want to do it or whatever. Then Dre, who had just seen Final Destination and was a fan, suggested me. There happened to be somebody in the casting office that knew somebody who was friends with me, and they called me that way… and it ended up working out pretty good. It’s also one of the proudest things I’ve been a part of.”
It’s been nearly 25 years since the video came out, and Sawa admitted that he still knows the lyrics, and has found himself occasionally singing along. “If it came on in my car or something like that, I would jam along to it,” he said. “I’ll tell you one thing, I know it better now than I did that day. Because I’ve heard it millions of times since.”
Motor City legend Eminem is expected to make an appearance at the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit, set to take place at Campus Martius Park and Hart Plaza from April 25th to April 27th.
What is the NFL Draft?
It’s pretty much exactly what it sounds like — it’s when the 32 teams of the NFL choose their newest players from the latest generation of football phenoms.
When is the NFL Draft?
Officially, it starts April 25 at noon and runs through 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 27. But you can find draft-themed attractions and events before and after. The NFL shop, for example, located at 1001 Woodward Ave., opens for business April 20 at 10 a.m. It’ll run for four days before opening again April 25. Round one of draft picks begins at 8 p.m. The second and third round begins at 7 p.m. on April 26. Rounds four through seven start at noon on April 27.
When are the Lions up in the draft?
The Lions have seven total picks, including the 29th overall pick in the first round. From there, it’s No. 61 in Round 2, No. 73 in Round 3 (which they got from the Minnesota Vikings), No. 164 in Round 5, No. 201 (from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers) and No. 205 in Round 6, and No. 249 in Round 7. These can change, though. Teams can trade at any time, including during the draft itself.
Will there be entertainment?
Yes! Detroit native Big Sean will headline a series of free concerts tied to the NFL Draft. And Motor City’s beloved Detroit Youth Choir also will perform, along with Canton-raised singer Bazzi. The concerts will be held on the Draft Theater stage and are standing room only, and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
