Lil Wayne Admits He Redid His Verse on “Forever” After Hearing Eminem’s Verse

Hip-hop icon Lil Wayne recently reflected on the fierce competitive drive behind one of the most legendary collaborations in rap history during a new interview on In The Bayou With Tyrann Mathieu. Recalling the monumental creation of the 2009 hit track “Forever,” Weezy opened up about the initial inspiration and intense reaction he had upon hearing Eminem‘s legendary verse.

He said, “Doing a song with Drake, Eminem and Kanye West was a motivation. That’s Mount Rushmore. I got hyped. Em’s verse was a drug or something. I’m sure my original verse that I had on there wasn’t a damn thing wrong with it but I think I was not going hard cause I was just talking about general topic, I was not talking about knocking your f–king head off and I’m the best out here.”

He continued, “And once I heard Em’s verse, I was like, ‘Jesus Chris! What is wrong with this white boy, man!’ He make it so f–king difficult bro. Alright, take my verse off, give me a minute, I gotta redo my f–king verse.”

He added, “I enjoyed every second of that whole moment. I couldn’t wait to do a new version. I was like, ‘I can’t wait he to hear it and I hope he love it.'” You can watch the interview below:
