Out Now: Rakim, Eminem & Jay-Z — “God Speak” (Interlude)

Hip-hop legends Rakim, Kurupt, and Masta Killa have officially released their landmark collaborative project, The Godbody LP. The project bridges the gap between legendary East Coast lyricism and West Coast hardcore hip-hop.

The 15-track album was primarily produced by Rakim alongside Nick Wiz. It embodies a cross-country vision initially inspired by Tupac Shakur to unite powerhouse styles from both coasts.

The star-studded tracklist boasts heavy-hitting features from Snoop Dogg, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, KRS-One, Kool G Rap, and Daz Dillinger. It also features a rare interlude titled “God Speak,” which brings Eminem and Jay-Z together on a track for the first time in 25 years (if we don’t count the leaked “Syllables” song). The track is an interlude for Rakim’s solo track on the album titled “A Different Kind.”

Eminem’s spoken words are taken out from his interview with Kxng Crooked on Crook’s Corner podcast where he says: “To me, the greatness is not only how well you do something but if you were the first to do it. Rakim was the first person that I heard using inside rhyme schemes and coming back at the end and hitting, so he he did something that hadn’t even been thought of yet and he singlehandedly pushed the genre forward to be more complex lyrically and birthed f–king Kane and G Rap.”
