Battle rapper Real Deal recently took to Instagram to clear the air after facing pushback from hip-hop fans over a classic rap debate. After voicing his preference for Jay-Z’s verse over Eminem’s on their iconic 2001 collaboration “Renegade,” he found his comment section flooded with accusations that he was discrediting Slim Shady.

Addressing the backlash directly, Real Deal shut down allegations that he harbored any bias against the Detroit icon. “Recently, I’ve been getting some grief in my comment section because I said I prefer Jay-Z over Eminem on ‘Renegade’ even though I think Eminem was amazing,” he explained, setting the record straight. “Some people saying ‘oh, he’s a Shady hater.’ Not at all true. He’s one of my favorite rappers ever and an absolute legend.”

He went on to reveal where his personal Shady fandom peaks, pointing back to The Marshall Mathers LP era. “Somebody said, ‘what’s your favorite Eminem verse?’ The answer has not changed for me in 26 years,” he shared. “Second (last) verse on ‘Amityville‘ it might not lyrically be his best work, even though I think it’s incredible but combined with the aggression and how he knows when and when not to be syllabic gas pedal..”

By pointing to Eminem’s explosive closing verse on “Amityville,” Real Deal highlighted the raw energy and cadence control that defined Marshall Mathers at his peak.
