New “Street Fighter” Trailer Features Upcoming 50 Cent, Eminem & 2Pac Song

The newly released trailer for Street Fighter gives fans a much closer look at its characters and story, while adding an unexpected musical twist: a rare 2Pac recording.

From the trailer alone, it seems Paramount has fully embraced the strange, explosive energy that made the original Capcom game so memorable. Rather than trying to make the world overly realistic, the film appears to understand what made Street Fighter work in the first place. The game was never about realistic physics or grounded combat — it was about making the impossible feel emotionally believable. Directed by Kitao Sakurai, the new adaptation appears to be taking a similar approach.

The trailer’s soundtrack adds another unusual layer. The song featured is Tupac’s “Ambitionz Az a Fighta,” an alternate version of his classic “Ambitionz Az a Ridah.” 2Pac recorded the fighting-themed version in 1995, reportedly with Mike Tyson’s ring entrance in mind. The track was eventually released posthumously as “Ambitionz Az a Fighta” on the 2009 compilation Immortal.

There is, however, something different about the version heard in the Street Fighter trailer.

Even in “Ambitionz Az a Fighta,” Tupac continues to use the word “rider” in the chorus rather than changing it to “fighter.” The trailer, on the other hand, appears to feature the word “fighter” clearly enough to raise some questions about what version of the song we’re actually hearing.

Could 50 Cent’s vocals have been layered onto a 2Pac instrumental? Or is the trailer using a newly created mix incorporating previously unreleased 2Pac material?

The possibility isn’t as far-fetched as it sounds. During an appearance on NBC’s Today, 50 Cent revealed that he and Eminem had been working on music for the Street Fighter movie and that 2Pac’s estate had given them access to unreleased recordings: “I have some music that I’m working on. I did something currently, me, Eminem, and Tupac. Actually, it was for the theme for the Street Fighter movie. We worked on it and got it right.”

Based on what can be heard in the trailer, this could very well be the project 50 Cent was referring to. That doesn’t necessarily mean Eminem will appear vocally on the final track, though. If Marshall has recorded a verse, Paramount may simply be holding it back for a later reveal — especially considering how effective an Eminem appearance could be as a major promotional hook.

For the moment, it may be more likely that Eminem’s contribution is taking place behind the scenes rather than in front of the microphone. That would also make sense given that a new Eminem verse could generate significant attention and controversy of its own.

Still, fans hoping to hear fresh Eminem vocals may understandably be disappointed if he ultimately doesn’t appear on the finished song. Nothing has been officially confirmed yet, however, so there is still plenty of room for surprises.

Street Fighter is scheduled to hit theaters on October 16. Until then, the exact nature of the 2Pac, 50 Cent, and Eminem collaboration remains speculation.
