The Game mentions Dr. Dre & Eminem in a new song

Posted on January 30, 2026 By Remy Gelenidze

The Game, DJ Drama and Mike & Keys have released the deluxe edition of “Every Movie Needs A Trailer” Gangsta Grillz mixtape, titled Gangsta Grillz: E.M.N.T. – The Credits, featuring 21 Savage, Ty Dolla $ign, Swizz Beatz, Benny The Butcher, Conway The Machine, Boosie Badazz and more.

In a song titled “Dead Hermes,” The Game name-drops Jay-Z, Dr. Dre and Eminem with the following lines: “Ain’t much that really changed since I was barking at Jay / Snatched off my Aftermath chain when I was harking at Dre / And somehow, someway, the white boy caught a stray.”

“Ain’t much that really changed since I was barking at Jay” — This is a callback to when The Game publicly took shots at JAY-Z, especially in the mid-2000s, as he tried to assert himself as a top-tier rapper and West Coast torchbearer. “Barking” suggests loud, aggressive challenges, basically saying he’s still the same outspoken, fearless Game.

“Snatched off my Aftermath chain when I was harking at Dre” — Here he’s referencing his falling out with Dr. Dre and Aftermath/Interscope. The Aftermath chain symbolized loyalty and affiliation. Saying it was “snatched off” reflects how he was cut off and exiled from the label after publicly criticizing Dre and Jimmy Iovine. “Harking” again implies he was talking back or making noise.

“And somehow, someway, the white boy caught a stray” — This is the most loaded line. “The white boy” is almost certainly Eminem. Game is saying that during all these conflicts — Jay, Dre, the industry — Em ended up catching an indirect shot, even though he wasn’t the main target at the time. “Caught a stray” is slang for being hit unintentionally in crossfire.
