Dr. Dre has recently chatted with Entertainment Tonight’s Nischelle Turner about performing with Snoop Dogg at the LA28 handover during the Paris 2024 Olympics closing ceremony. Along with revealing his hopes to try out for the 2028 Olympics in archery, Dre dishes on what fans can expect from Snoop Dogg’s forthcoming new album, ‘Missionary,’ which is set to be released later this year. The upcoming project, which Dr. Dre is producing, marks the first time the dynamic duo has collaborated on an album in 30 years and includes a feature from Sting and an ‘amazing roster’ of other artists.
“Me and Snoop are working together again and it’s been 30 years, believe it or not, I’ve only produced one album for Snoop, which was Doggystyle and that was 30 years ago. We’ve done a lot of things in between and songs and performances and film and things of that nature but this is my first time I’m actually producing the entire album on him.” said Dr. Dre
Then he continued: “Back then, it was much more fun because we were kids at that time. And this is going to show different level of maturity with his lyrics and with my music. I feel like this is some of the best music I’ve done in my career so I’m really having fun with the music. I said it and I’m proud of it. I’m not playing. Snoop is really excited about this, so am I. I think people are really going to enjoy this.”
Nischelle Turner the asked about more details on the album, like release date and features. On which Dre replied: “As soon as we finish this interview, I have to go downstairs and start mixing. I wanted 14 songs, Snoop wants 16 so we had that thing happening. So, I’m on song number eleven as far as mixes go. I have to be done and delivered by September 1st to have November release.”
He then continued: “I actually did a couple of songs for the album. I’m not sure if one of them is gonna make it or not. I produced the entire album but vocally I think only one of them is going to make it. We have Sting on the song. We have an amazing roster of artists that’s on this album. I shouldn’t talk about this to be honest.”
“Let me just put this way. You are going to love this album. It’s an album that women are going to enjoy and like I said, it shows a massive amount of growth and maturity with the lyrics and with the music.” Dr. Dre added. You can watch the entire interview below:
