Considered by many as his magnum opus, The Marshall Mathers LP set the first week sales record for a solo artist’s album by selling almost 1.8 million copies. It went on to become diamond certified album in the United States, won two Grammys and is considered by many as one of the finest records of all times.Even though Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy can’t touch the sales of Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP, the album is a genre-bending masterpiece that explores the darker sides of celebrity, fame, and love. The album was widely acclaimed by both fans and critics. It received a 94 out of 100 score on Metacritic and later appeared on numerous magazines’ greatest albums ever made lists.
