Elton John is on his way to Europe for Farewell – Yellow Brick Road the final tour, performing some of the iconic hits from his incredible career.
Last night, Elton John performed at O2 Stadium in London. During performing “I’m Still Standing” single they showed Elton and Eminem’s legendary picture from their iconic Grammy 2001 performance of “Stan” on the stage’s big screen.
“Eminem, Had a feeling you might pop up at the O2 last night!! Elton, amazing show.” One user tweeted while sharing the moment the reel showed Elton and Slim Shady picture.
At the 2001 Grammy Awards, when Marshall Mathers was facing criticism from GLAAD over his homophobic lyrics, Eminem responded them by performing “Stan” with Elton John singing Dido’s lines. Since then, the two become amazing friends. Elton even helped Eminem to overcome his drug addiction.

This week Sam Smith revealed on The Kelly Clarkson Show that Ed Sheeran had gifted him a 6-foot marble p*nis statue.
In his latest appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Ed Sheeran took the chance to explain himself, and revealed that none other than Eminem and Elton John had played important parts in inspiring the bizarre present.
“Elton John has been involved in my career from the get-go, and he buys me weird gifts. I can’t talk about them on TV — but, like, odd gifts. Sexual sort of objects …I love you, Elton.” said Ed.
Then he continues: “He is very proud of the fact that Eminem bought him and his husband, David, diamond-encrusted c**k rings for their wedding. I’m like, I need to one-up this, I need to get Elton a present that’s gonna make him go:” ‘Oh my god.’”
That’s when inspiration struck the four-time Grammy winner, who proceeded to order “a few different iterations” of p*nis sculptures. “I gave it to him for his birthday, and Elton was over the moon about it,” Sheeran chuckled. “It got out in the press that I’d done it. And people would just be like, ‘Can I have one?’ Sam saw one of them and said, ‘Can I have one?’ And I said, ‘What would you like?’ and Sam said, ‘One the size of me — six foot two.’ So … there we go. That’s it.”
Couple of weeks ago, in an interview with Billboard, Elton John compared his experience in the studio with Young Thug to seeing Eminem’s impressive rap skills years back.
“I have seen Marshall Mathers do it in Detroit, but I have never seen someone like Thug come in and do that. In the end, I had to leave because I think he felt a bit intimidated that I was there and I just wanted him to relax. But it is just an amazing moment in my musical life…I have no understanding of how rap records are put together and it is fascinating to watch.” said the legendary singer.
Yesterday, Young Thug visited The Breakfast Club where Charlamagne asked him if he knew what Elton John said about him and Eminem. Here is what Thugger replied: “Right… Look… Of course it’s f**king Eminem.”
Elton John’s new album, The Lockdown Sessions, comes out October 22, 2021 but it is far from the only project on the legendary singer’s plate because he is ‘as busy as ever.’
Elton and fellow legend Stevie Wonder has recently spoke to Billboard where John named the rapper who is as spectacular as Eminem at freestyling:
“I was just blown away by Young Thug’s freestyle. I mean, I have seen Marshall Mathers do it in Detroit, but I have never seen someone like Thug come in and do that. In the end, I had to leave because I think he felt a bit intimidated that I was there and I just wanted him to relax. But it is just an amazing moment in my musical life… I have no understanding of how rap records are put together and it is fascinating to watch.” said John.

Legendary British singer Elton John has been accused of double standards after criticizing rapper DaBaby’s homophobic comments.
Elton shared the stats about HIV that affects more than 70 million people worldwide in his statement as he lashed out at DaBaby.
Some social media users slammed Elton John because they think Elton has never spoken against Eminem for homophobic lyrics and instead chose to work with Slim Shady, specifically, performing “Stan” with him at the Grammy Awards.

I mean Eminem had the same situation and Elton John still performed with him on stage…so there’s that…. https://t.co/7tjU7GM4ed
Folks calling DaBaby homophobic etc but just a reminder that Eminem was/is one of the most homophobic rappers in music and is the best-selling rapper of all time. So where was Elton John and the rest of these folks when Eminem was saying his bigotry ? Oh wait preforming with him pic.twitter.com/pERccqMXg9
The Grammy Awards are known for flashy, unusual musical pairings, but no duo caused a stir like Eminem and Elton John in 2001.
Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP was one of the biggest hits of the previous year. It cemented him as a rap star and force to be reckoned with in the music industry — love him or hate him. And people really did either love him or hate him. For every critic hailing the Detroit native as a lyrical genius, there was another criticizing him for homophobic and misogynistic messages.
GLAAD announced it would be among the groups protesting Eminem’s “hate-filled lyrics” outside Staples Center in Los Angeles on Grammy night. Then, less than two weeks before the telecast, it was revealed that John would take the stage with Eminem to perform his hit song “Stan.”
Yahoo Entertainment has recently spoke with former Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich about how Eminem and John’s unforgettable performance came to be.
According to Ehrlich, who was the showrunner of the Grammy Awards for 40 years and the architect of the event’s signature musical team-up moments, there was no hesitation that Eminem’s participation (solo or not) might prove to be too controversial for network television.
“I produced the show, so a lot of it was my decision. We wanted him, there wasn’t any question. Granted he was — I don’t want to even use the word controversial. He was an extremely unique artist who was not hesitant about expressing his point of view. And by the way, some of that point of view was pointed at the Grammys.”
“Well, I don’t want to rewrite history if he says that that’s fine. It’s not exactly the way I remember it. But, you know, great ideas have many fathers.”
“I remember getting a call. It might have been someone at the label, it might’ve been someone from [Eminem’s team], but I think we had already been thinking about it, just not necessarily in those terms. We were looking for a duet partner because they had expressed to us that he was interested in performing with another artist.”
“As soon as we got the message to Elton that we were interested, he sparked to it. He said, ‘This is exactly the kind of thing that I want to do. I want to break down these barriers. If [Eminem’s] OK with it and he wants to do it. I’d love to do it.'”
