Eminem opens up the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit

The Detroit Lions introduced the world to the city with a warm welcome to kick off the NFL draft.

Current players and past legends joined NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and Detroit hip-hop icon Eminem on the draft stage in the heart of Campus Martius Park to start the 2024 NFL draft. Jared Goff, freshly-extended Amon-Ra St. Brown, Aidan Hutchinson, Calvin Johnson and Barry Sanders walked out onto the stage with a dramatic entrance.

Goodell came out first to a wave of boos, as is custom, then it turned into a raucous cheer when Eminem came out. Then, The Detroit Lions legends graced the stage, and the crowd went crazy. St. Brown, now $120 million richer, was the first player to greet the crowd. He welcomed the massive crowd in attendance and then started a chant for his quarterback standing behind him.

“Before we get off the stage, I need to hear one thing, JA-RED GOFF, JA-RED GOFF,” St. Brown said, before trailing off and letting the strong Honolulu blue contingent in attendance take it from there. Goff and Hutchinson also addressed the crowd. “Welcome to Detroit, let’s go baby!” Goff yelled into the mic. Hutchinson then took over, and also greeted the crowd standing under a massive poster of the franchise defensive end. “Let’s turn up tonight baby, let’s go!” The crowd then broke out into more Goff chants to fill in the silence before the Lions’ players exited the stage for the draft to begin. Eminem to appear at the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit

Motor City legend Eminem is expected to make an appearance at the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit, set to take place at Campus Martius Park and Hart Plaza from April 25th to April 27th.

What is the NFL Draft?
It’s pretty much exactly what it sounds like — it’s when the 32 teams of the NFL choose their newest players from the latest generation of football phenoms.

When is the NFL Draft?
Officially, it starts April 25 at noon and runs through 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 27. But you can find draft-themed attractions and events before and after. The NFL shop, for example, located at 1001 Woodward Ave., opens for business April 20 at 10 a.m. It’ll run for four days before opening again April 25. Round one of draft picks begins at 8 p.m. The second and third round begins at 7 p.m. on April 26. Rounds four through seven start at noon on April 27.

When are the Lions up in the draft?
The Lions have seven total picks, including the 29th overall pick in the first round. From there, it’s No. 61 in Round 2, No. 73 in Round 3 (which they got from the Minnesota Vikings), No. 164 in Round 5, No. 201 (from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers) and No. 205 in Round 6, and No. 249 in Round 7. These can change, though. Teams can trade at any time, including during the draft itself.

Will there be entertainment?
Yes! Detroit native Big Sean will headline a series of free concerts tied to the NFL Draft. And Motor City’s beloved Detroit Youth Choir also will perform, along with Canton-raised singer Bazzi. The concerts will be held on the Draft Theater stage and are standing room only, and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

What kind of food will be available at the NFL Draft?
No matter what you like to eat, you will probably be able to find something at the “Taste of the Town” tailgate. A small collection of the many local restaurants featured, according to the NFL

  • Waka by Baobab Fare
  • Detroit 75 Kitchen
  • Haraz Coffee House
  • Mom’s Spaghetti (yes, this is Eminem ‘s restaurant)
  • El Parian Taco
  • Louisiana Creole Gumbo
  • Kuzzo’s Chicken and Waffle
  • Bangkok 96 Street Food
  • And many, many more options.

Eminem says he’s working on new music, threatens Ben Johnson with diss song if he leaves Detroit Lions

A head of San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions game, Eminem visited DJ Whoo Kid on Shade 45 radio where he talked about the game and revealed that he’s currently working on some new music.

“I never thought in my lifetime that I would ever even see this. I didn’t realize how good the team actually was and when we beat Kansas City in the first game I was like BRO! F–king Goff…It’s the whole f–king team. Everything is clicking right now. I love Stafford man. I love what Stafford did for us when he was here but bro, Goff is, he’s f–king surgical.” said Eminem.

Then he continued: “If Deebo don’t play, it’d be so great [Laughs]. Does he not feel good or something? I don’t know if he really wants to test that shoulder and injure it more. 49ers are great team and they really gonna be hard to beat. I’m so into what’s going on right now, I can’t even think about anything else. This is taking precedence over my entire life right now. We went to championship game 32 years ago. But we only won one playoff game back then. There were less games. We have never gotten this far. I know it’s a championship game but we never won two playoff games and we are so close bro. I have to be there. There is no f–king way I’m not gonna be there and I just saw today that Ben Johnson might be going to [Washington] Commanders and if he leaves us bro…Ben Johnson, if you leave us, diss record is coming! Diss song is coming!”

Then DJ Whoo Kid asked about the new music, on which, Slim Shady replied: “Absolutely nothing. Nah man, I’m working on little something.” You can listen to the interview below:

Crowd goes nuts as Eminem appears at Detroit Lions VS Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The NFC Championship Game between the Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers will take place in California the next week to determine who would represent the their cities at Super Bowl LVIII.

Detroit Lions handled their business Sunday afternoon defeating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the score 31-23, to set up next week’s matchup at Levi’s Stadium. San Francisco, the No. 1 seed in the NFC, earned the right to host the Lions by beating the Green Bay Packers Saturday night.

Like the previous game against Los Angeles Rams last week, Eminem attended Lions’ game yesterday at  Ford Field with his family and friends, including Bizarre from D12. Em was all fired up again and the crowd loved it! Seconds before the game, “Lose Yourself” was played and Slim Shady appeared on JumboTron, as hyped as ever. This time, Eminem didn’t wear a Kangol hat and a hoodie but Detroit Lions’ Barry Sanders t-shirt and cap.

Check out the crowds reaction when Eminem appeared on the big screen:

When 65,000 fans at Ford Field sing Eminem’s “Lose Yourself”

For the first time in more than three decades, the Detroit Lions have won a playoff game. In a 24-23 nail biter at Ford Field stadium, Detroit Lions defeated the Los Angeles Rams. The Lions will host the winner of Monday night’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers verses Philadelphia Eagles game.

Eminem, Big Sean and more were at the Ford Field ahead of Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Rams game, taking pictures with Lions legendary players like Barry Sanders and Calvin Johnson.

Slim Shady, who attended the game with his daughter Hailie, his long-time friend and manager Paul Rosenberg and D12 group-mates Bizarre and Mr. Porter, also took some time to take some pictures with the fans.

Before the game started, more than a 65,000 supporters at Ford Field were pumped up by Eminem’s iconic track 2002’s “Lose Yourself” and all the fans knew every word of the song. Check out the video below and try to stop the goosebumps.

Eminem gives motivational speech on SNF before “Lions” game

Before Detroit Lions’ historic win over Los Angeles Rams, Eminem appeared on NBC’s Sunday Night Football where the legendary hip-hop artist gave the players the motivation they needed.

“This is the story about what a football team can mean to a city. For far too long, Detroit has been on receiving in of losing seasons and bad punchlines. You try to shut out the noise but after a while it starts to live in your head. This means, when a dude like this [Matthew Stafford] comes into town, the conversation changes. We finally had a reason to feel good about where his team was heading. He was all in and so were we until we weren’t. Maybe we weren’t patient enough but we let him go to a city in a team that was in different kind of rebuild and then we sat home and we watched him win it all. It was a true Hollywood ending.” said Eminem, while “Survival” was playing in the background.

Then he continued: “So, for us, back to the lab again, rebuilding, once again. But wait a minute! Something felt different for this time and this guy [Jared Goff], with a little help from this guy [Dan Campbell] made us all realize that maybe history was not repeating itself. It’s all come down to this, for a city, its team and their fans who have been waiting for this night for 30 years. Two teams and two players forever linked. Detroit don’t get a whole lot of Hollywood endings. But tonight, we have a shot. And we get our shot…well, you know what comes after that. Lions, Rams, on Wild Card Sunday Night. Let’s go!”

Detroit Lions official social media pages also shared a video of Eminem pumping up the team. The video, which is captioned “There’s a storm comin'”, features a simple message from Em before cutting to a video of highlights from the season set to the tune of one of his hit songs from Recovery album, “Cinderella Man.” At the beginning of the video, Eminem addressed the hungry Lions fanbase by saying “Detroit Lions, Let’s go” with a vicious finger point at the camera while donning his signature scowl.

Eminem attends Lions game with Hailie, Bizarre, Mr. Porter & meets Big Sean, Barry Sanders, Calvin Johnson

The first playoff game at Ford Field stadium and the first home playoff game in more than 30 years brought out some of the biggest names in Detroit to Ford Field, including Eminem and Big Sean.

Jared Goff threw for a touchdown and completed a game-sealing first down against the team that cast him away, and the Detroit Lions won a playoff game for the first time in 32 years, beating Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams with the score 24-23 last night. The Lions (13-5) ended a nine-game postseason losing streak – the longest in NFL history – that dated to a victory over Dallas in January 1992. They lost a home playoff game two years later and hadn’t hosted one since. (via The Guardian)

Eminem addresses Matthew Stafford ahead of Detroit Lions game

In the short video shared by NBC’s Sunday Night Football account, Eminem — wearing a Barry Sanders hoodie — addressed the former Detroit Lions’ quarterback, Matthew Stafford, who plays his old team on Sunday at Ford Field when the Lions face the Los Angeles Rams in the first round of the National Football League playoffs. It’s the Lions’ first home playoff game in 30 years, and the first-ever playoff game at Ford Field.

“Stafford, what’d I say? You owe me this favor bro. I was there for you when you won it. I was right there. I rapped for you, Stafford! Bro, I rapped for you! Can you just let us have this one?! Just this one!” says Eminem in the video shared on social media.

Eminem performed at the halftime game of Pepsi Super Bowl LVI at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Kendrick Lamar and Mary J. Blige. At that 2022 game the Rams, led by Stafford, beat the Cincinnati Bengals with the score 23-20.

Slim Shady is a Lions superfan who visited the team’s training camp in 2022, and he made his way to Ford Field to watch the Lions take on the Carolina Panthers in October, 2022… Watch the video of Eminem asking Matthew Stafford a favor below and wait for the game which will be broadcasted on NBC on Sunday, 8:15 p.m.

Eminem congratulates Detroit Lions for winning NFC North title

The Detroit Lions have grabbed the NFC North title for the first time in history. They got the better of division rival Minnesota Vikings to seal a playoff spot and doubled the glory with a maiden division championship. Amid the joyful congratulations from the fans, Eminem also popped up.

Eminem is a huge Detroit Lions fan, and this is not his first time celebrating their important victory. But this particular occasion is special for every Lions fan, as they won their maiden championship since the creation of the The National Football Conference – Northern Division. The away side held onto their nerves to defend the late resurgence from the purple and golds, eventually pretty much throwing them out of the season. Exited with the Vikings’ outcome, the Detroit legend quickly tweeted a celebratory message “@Lions, I did it!!!!!”, tagging the official Lions X account.

But Slim Shady quickly realized his mistake, almost immediately. Before the netizens could bring in his contributions to the achievement, he corrected it with a “WE did it”, citing that he was still figuring out how to use the app.

Watch Eminem segment in “Bye Bye Barry” documentary

Detroit legend Eminem appears in the latest Amazon Prime Video’s documentary “Bye Bye Barry” about former American football player Barry Sanders, a running back who played for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League for 10 seasons.

Sanders led the league in rushing yards four times and in rushing touchdowns once, establishing himself as one of the most elusive runners in the history of the NFL with his quickness and agility, despite being only 5 ft 8 in tall and weighing 203 lbs.

In 1997, Barry Sanders rushed for 2,053 yards in the regular season and was awarded the NFL Most Valuable Player Award (MVP), alongside his second NFL Offensive Player of the Year Award. While still performing at a high level, Sanders unexpectedly retired from professional football in 1999, at the age of 31, and 1,457 yards short of breaking the NFL’s then all-time rushing record held by Walter Payton. He cited the Lions’ front office and declining team production as reasons for his retirement.

In one of the segment of the documentary, Eminem says: “I’ve seen every documentary on Barry Sanders that there is to see and I never walked away feeling like I knew why he walked away. Still to this day, everybody talks about he is the greatest running back that ever played the game and I know that he walked away at a time when he could have broken every single record there ever was and ever will be. So, why did he walk away?!” while his “Cinderella Man,” song from Recovery (2010) album playing in the background.

Then continued: “It just made him so much more likable that fact that he was that good, I’ve never seen somebody be that good in something and be so humble.”

Eminem reacts to Detroit Lion’s comeback win over Chicago Bears

With the Detroit Lions’ thrilling come-from-behind victory over the Chicago Bears, they have now moved to 8-2 on the season. As it currently stands, it is the second-best record in the NFL, only behind the 8-1 Philadelphia Eagles.

This is also a stunning landmark for the Lions franchise. The last time they were 8-2 was in 1962, four seasons before the very first Super Bowl. That’s 61 years since the Lions have started out with such an impressive record through 10 games. Combined with the team’s 8-2 finish to last season, the Lions have now won a remarkable 16 of their last 20 games.

If you’re wondering what happened back in 1962 when the Lions started 8-2, the Lions finished with an 11-3 record—behind the Green Bay Packers’ 13-1 season (the one loss coming to Detroit in the finale—AKA the Thanksgiving Day Massacre.) The Lions would end up winning the third-place game, beating the Steelers 17-10 for a 12-3 finish to the season.

This year, the sky is the limit for the Lions. While that was not anywhere near a good game against the Bears, it shows the tenacity of this team and their ability to make big plays in big moments. They will look to move to 9-2 in just a few days against the Green Bay Packers, who are coming off a fourth-quarter comeback win of their own.

It’s seems Detroit legend Eminem was also impressed with the win. “I can’t f–king believe it!!!!!! Incredible!!!!!! @Lions thank you for the heart attack!!! Let’s f–king goooooooooooo!!!!” wrote Eminem on X. Check the post below:
