Stephen Edwin King, also know as “King of Horror,” whose books have sold 350 million copies worldwide, has Eminem mentioned in one of his thriller novels, titled The Institute.
The Institute is a science fiction-horror thriller novel, published on September 10, 2019, by Scribner. The book follows twelve-year-old genius Luke Ellis. When his parents are murdered, he is kidnapped by intruders and awakens in the Institute, a facility that houses other children who got there the same way he did and have telepathy or telekinesis.
On the 435th page of the book, there is a conversation between two characters, where one of them mentions Eminem.
– You look remarkably stupid with your hat on that way, Mr. Jamieson.
Russ and Royce Da 5’9″ have recently done the Instagram Live session where the two talked about Eminem and the current state of hip-hop.
Royce 5’9″ on Eminem: “I was there when Eminem was recording lots of stuff. We used to share hotel rooms. He was just beat up all night. He was pacing around. He writes like, you know, everything connects syllable-wise. He writes different syllable schemes all around the paper and it’s like nothing is in order. Little blobs and stuff. Then he goes into the booth and he just picks s**t. Now he thinks a lot. I think we all do that just with age. We just think more but back then he didn’t think. He would just go in there, He didn’t second guess it. He used to just spill the s**t and he would always pick the most comfortable pocket in the beat.”
Then Russ continues: “When you really listen to Eminem, it sounds like you downloaded his vocals with the beat. Like, there is no other flow or tone or pocket. When I listened to what Eminem said about ‘Infinite’ album like ‘Infinite was me sound like AZ’ and then I stopped giving a f**k and that’s when people started giving a f**k. I was always resonated with that too. He was like ‘f**k you all’ and that’s when the whole world was like ‘I love you.’”
About two years ago, in February 2019, Eminem visited Australia as a part of his Rapture Tour. The Rap God took his time to meet kids suffering from cancer through Make-A-Wish foundation.
Now 18 years old Alex Beulke, who overcame the Ewing’s Sarcoma, tells a story behind her meeting with the Detroit legend:
“Eminem was a little bit shy, but I got to spend half an hour with him. I just expected five minutes. He gave us a massive gift bag that had everything you could buy at the merchandise stand. Then he signed whatever we wanted him to sign and let us take photos.”
“The first question I asked him was what his favorite song was of all his music, and he said either “Lose Yourself” or “Mockingbird” because that is something for his daughters. I also asked him who his favorite artist was to collaborate with, and he said, Royce Da 5’9” or Dr. Dre. But he also asked me some questions. He was really interested in my music, and he was really impressed because he thought I might only like rap music, but I have a very broad range. And I got to a Phil Collins concert earlier that month, so he was really impressed with the broad range. He asked me how many people the Melbourne stadium holds, and I said a hundred thousand but that you expect about 80,000 people to come, and he was just blown away by that. Even on stage that night, he said, ‘This is the most amount of people I have ever seen in one area’.”
“Even to this day, thinking about it makes me smile. I can go back to that memory and think about it and automatically be happy again because it was a phenomenal experience and something I will never forget for the rest of my life.” said Alex.

Back in 2019, Cordae, who then was called YBN Cordae, gave an interview to DJ Whoo Kid where the 23 year old rapper talked about Eminem’s influence on him.
“I love Eminem. You think Eminem heard my ‘My Name Is’ freestyle? Yo, did I not mention Eminem? Eminem is a f**king GOAT. Let me just say this, that ni**a’s crazy bro! That My Name Is song was STUPID! The way he put s**t together bro that’s crazy. That is a man who nobody wanna f**k with. That ni**a’s crazy.”
“I f**k with his Dead Wrong verse. I even f**ked with Infinite. When he used to kind of rap like AZ and NAS.”
In 5 hours, Cordae will drop a verse on Eminem’s “Killer” song. This is how the times change! You can watch the throwback interview below:
