Skylar Grey has recently told her fans on Instagram to ask some unique questions. “Ask me something. Unique questions only…” – she wrote on her story while sharing one of her newest photos.
One user asked: “Are there any lyrics that you regret writing or do not believe anymore?” On which she replied: “Oh so many lyrics I have written that I no longer relate to…But no regrets.
Then she continues: “But I do sometimes wish I had not done that silly bicycle song. I was still finding my way back then. I would have so much rather done a dark beautiful song and video with Eminem…I feel like I kinda blew that opportunity. I was after a ‘hit’ rather than just making art.”
Skylar Grey and Eminem have made 10 songs together and “C’mon Let Me Ride” is one of them. The song dropped in 2012 from Skylar’s “Don’t Look Down” album and it is produced by Alexa da Kid. It samples the chorus of the 1978 hit song “Bicycle Race” by Queen.
The song is meant to poke fun at the prevalent theme of s-x in current pop music. Sky and Em use euphemisms for s-x in an exaggerated, sarcastic interpretation of what pop music is seemingly all about.
“The video is a combined effort between director Isaac Rentz, me and Eminem, and we just wanted to make sure it was very clear that it’s a sarcastic song.” said Skylar Grey in the interview.

Eminem’s former bodyguard, Byron Big-Nazz Williams, who wrote a book about him called Shady Bizzness: Life as Marshall Mathers’ Bodyguard in an Industry of Paper Gangsters, once did an exclusive interview to promote his book and revealed some of the crazy facts he encountered while working with Slim Shady. According Byron Williams:
1. Eminem lives in constant fear of his wife Kim, who beats him up in drunken fights and banned woman from going backstage on his Europe tour.
2. He picks on gays and lesbians in his song lyrics because he sees them as easy targets.
3. Eminem was terrified of a 15-year-old fan he thought had begun to stalk him. Every time they turned around she was there. She was at every show standing outside trying to tell him how much she loved him. She knew our hotels and everywhere they were going. She even knew places they were going to be that no-one from outside was supposed to know. It really put Eminem on edge. He was convinced a deranged fan would one day kill him. He is worried about the guy who just steps out of the crowd and goes `bang’ and it’s all over.
4. He asked for FBI protection after receiving death threats.
5. Eminem cried because he missed his five-year-old daughter Hailie while being on tour.
6. He claims to have been involved in a drive-by shooting – but was armed only with a toy paint-gun.
7. Eminem uses drugs constantly to cope with the pressure of fame.
8. He hates to be alone and sleeps with the light on.
9. Eminem has a lot of money, but he is miserable. His wife does not make him happy, the music does not make him happy – only his daughter makes him happy.
10. He may have this tough image but basically he’s a very screwed up and insecure person.
11. Eminem was like a one-man walking pharmacy. One day he took 14 different drugs. It started with ecstasy for breakfast, then liquor, Vicodin, valium, magic mushrooms, marijuana, Tylenol 3, and a host of other over-the-counter drugs.
12. During Eminem’s UK tour at that time, he was the subject of a police investigation after apparently taking drugs and drinking on stage. It was later claimed the drugs were chewing gum and the drink was water. Em often took drugs before going on stage to give his act “an edge.”
13. Some of the things that went on while Byron Williams was on tour made made him think he was working for the Devil.
14. He would always take ecstasy half-an-hour before a show so it would really kick in when he was on stage.
15. Sometimes Em would drink so much you could smell the liquor coming from his pores.
16. He is made up of three personalities. There is Marshall Mather, who is the good father who wants to keep his family together; there is Eminem, the one who writes the songs; and then there is Slim Shady, the crazy one who gets into all the troubles.
17. Kim herself is no angel. She throw a lamp at Eminem on a tour bus, knocking him down. Eminem is terrified of her. She is one tough lady and bigger than him.
18. He knows if it gets too bad, she will walk away with Hailie, and he could never take that.
19. One day either she is going to kill him or he is going to kill her.
20. Kim is not on the tour with Eminem so she wanted to make sure he behaved himself. Women, including catering staff, are not allowed backstage and none have been anywhere near his changing room. No one could quite believe it at first but he has stuck by his wife’s wishes.”
21. Williams saw him cry for the first time in Boston when Em couldn’t deal with the pressure of the tour. According to him, it was a sad sight. They were pressuring him for more and more interviews and it drove him crazy. They were always asking the same questions. He cried and stormed out of the hotel. He missed Hailie, and Williams saw him as human because of that. He was real – and had real feelings – even though he was intoxicated all the time.
22. Williams says: “I was told he had been getting death threats because of his comments about gays, and he has asked the FBI for help. He treated these threats seriously and was genuinely scared.
23. Eminem made derogatory remarks about gays and lesbians because he thought it was funny. He called them fa—ts and stuff. It all started out as jokes to tease people. But it’s backfired.
24. He started picking on gays and lesbians because it was his opportunity to be the bully. He was so used to getting kicked a lot himself. He was beaten up a lot while growing up. In his eyes, he saw the gay community as vulnerable.
25. He disrespects people and he thinks it’s funny. He thinks they are going to find it funny as well, but they don’t.
Canadian electronic music duo Zeds Dead pulled up to Detroit on their current tour this past weekend and unsheathed an epic mashup of Eminem‘s iconic single “Lose Yourself.”
With Eminem being a Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Detroiter, there could not have been a better place to serve this one up, and the crowd absolutely ate it up, just like Mom’s Spaghetti.
Deadbeats’ social media account, the duo’s own label, shared a video of them dropping the track with the caption “when in the D.” The crowd reaction will straight up give you chills.

“Royce came on my show. Matter of fact, shout out to Royce. He just hit my out of the blue last week and he was like ‘hey, peace, I’m just checking on brother.’ I was like ‘man, I appreciate you. Thank you’. We gotta do another live. He was like ‘whenever you are ready.’ I was like ‘peace.’ I felt good about that too. That was nice. Out of f–king nowhere. Little s–t that you can do in people’s lives that doesn’t cost money, where you can really bring light to somebody’s day and that was it. Shout out to Royce. So, yes, we did rectify.” said Lord Jamar.
Then he continues: “Eminem is his hommie. What I said was not about Eminem. It’s more about what Kanye is saying right now. This is just about… us as black people, who are the creators of the hip-hop, this is about us deciding who is who and what is what. That’s all it ever was about. It was never about any hatred towards Eminem. Don’t know him personally. It was just about saying ‘you all can’t tall me who the king of hip-hop is based on whatever criteria you say.’ We as black people decide who is the king. And it might not be based on how many records they sold. That’s it. But then you get all the kick back, you know, people wanna backtalk me, and then I had to say s–t like ‘well, if you keep it real, no shade, we was not even listening to Eminem like that. I don’t wanna get back in this cause this will sound controversial but I’m just saying he didn’t have same impact on our culture than others. So, how you gonna call him a king? I don’t care how many records he sells. That’s it. Nothing against him.”

Eminem having two of his diamond albums on the top 10 list of most streamed hip hop albums of Spotify is genuinely bad bitch energy like who is DOING that 25+ years into their career???
On November 5, 2022, Eminem entered into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame by thanking more than 100 hip-hop acts during the induction speech at the Microsoft Office in Los Angeles.
In all, the Detroit legend took about three-and-a-half minutes to mention more than 100 names after accepting the honor. The list included J.J. Fad – a legendary female rap group from Rialto, California.
The official Twitter account of the group posted a video of Eminem’s speech where J.J. Fad is mentioned and thanked Eminem for the love: “Thank you Eminem for always remembering your girls! We are so honored and humbled! We love you!” with hearts emojis.
Em has previously shouted out J.J. Fad in several occasions, most notable mention came on “Rap God” where Slim Shady raps:

Legendary rapper MC Serch, who is a former member of 3rd Bass and Non Phixion hip-hop collectives, has recently appeared on Math Hoffa’s “My Expert Opinion” podcast hosted by Mr. Mecc, Sean Bigga and Champ.
During his three-hour long interview, the New York City’s golden age rapper revealed the reason Trick Trick stared no-fly zone in Detroit.
“You can ask anybody in Detroit, I killed radio. That no-fly zone s–t, that happened on my show. That happened on my show and I’m gonna tell the truth. So, here is what happened: Trick Trick did a record called ‘Welcome 2 Detroit City’ with Eminem. That was A BANGER. I go to LA, I go to visit Power 106. I’m looking at the playlist and ‘Welcome 2 Detroit’ is number two on Power 106, Hot 97 in LA, number two! They were rotating the record for 57 times a week. Every 43 minutes.” said MC Serch.
Then he continues: “Then…I’m in the car. I’m on my way to Roscoe’s and I hit the record and it’s Em’s verse only. Originally, Em started the verse and then it was Trick Trick. And then it’s Em’s verse again. And that’s it. So I said. Wait, maybe because its morning or the afternoon. Okay. Trick got little greasy, whatever. NO! They rotated that record ‘Welcome 2 Detroit City’ with two Eminem’s verses.”
“So, I came home. And Royce 5’9” and Trick come to visit me. And I said, congratulations on the success of your record but do you know what’s going on out there in the streets, outside of this city?! And I explained to him that I polled radio stations and all they are playing is Eminem’s verse twice. And Trick spazzed out! He said ‘this day forward, it is Detroit is no-fly zone!’ I was doing Serchlite Saturdays at Radio 1 station and he said it’s a no-fly zone and he meant that s–t! And the first person to touch down, that week, Rick Ross. Second guy to touch-down, YoungBerg and what I remember about that, cause I was in the hotel watching him walk in, they mopped him up there and I felt terrible for that kid.” MC Serch added.
Film director, music video director, television commercial director and photographer, Anthony Mandler, who has previously worked with Rihanna, Jay Z, Beyoncé, Eminem, Usher, Shakira, Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, Christina Aguilera, 50 Cent, Ne-Yo, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige and Lana Del Rey, has recently appeared on Anything Goes With James podcast, where he talked about his working experience with Eminem.
“I did couple videos with Eminem. I spent some time in Detroit with him for couple of shoots. He’s complicated. He was complicated at that time. I think he was not sober at that time. I think he’s now sober and he seems to be really direct but it was complicated. He’s a complicated guy. Sometimes people’s brilliance are is also what makes them odd. Like, they are not as open or as one-to-one they don’t look you in the eyes but then they walk away and do something that’s remarkable. They have a special skill set.” said Anthony Mandler.
Then he continues: “I think with Em it was, the one what I noticed more than anything was that, he was much like a recluse. We would have to go to Detroit and go out to his house to work. He always works in these small communities where he lived. You could not get him to come to LA and work. You always had to go to him which tells me something: His world is sort of smaller and smaller and that’s the part of the problem, you know, when you see fame controlling someone’s life when they actually want to do something different.”

Meghann Fahy, one of the stars of the second season of HBO’s “White Lotus,” has recently visited Eminem’s of Mom’s Spaghetti restaurant, a nine-day-only “pop-up experience” in SoHo, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the movie “8 Mile,” starring Eminem as the rapper who calls himself B-Rabbit.
Fahy considers herself to be an Eminem connoisseur and little more obsessed with him. Her go-to karaoke song is iconic Dido-assisted song “Stan,” from The Marshall Mathers LP album, a menacing epic about an abusive loner who is obsessed with a famous rapper. “It’s not his fastest song. But I do think, from a storytelling perspective, it is one of his best.” – She explained that Eminem karaoke was less obnoxious than the alternative.
The shop bumped a bass-heavy hip-hop track. Fahy, who is thirty-two, with a spray of cheek freckles and swishy strawberry-blond hair, shimmied along. Ciara Benko, the pop-up’s publicist, asked Fahy about the first time she saw “8 Mile.” on which, she replied: “Oh, it was in 2002, and I had, like, a s*xual awakening. My friend and I had to watch it in a closet, because we were not supposed to be watching it.”
Near the exit of the shop, Fahy made a beeline for the gift shop. “I looove merch” she said as she picked up a vinyl copy of the movie’s soundtrack. “Does it have the rap battles on it?” she asked. She caressed a T-shirt promoting a showdown between B-Rabbit and his nemesis, Papa Doc. She bought two, one for herself and one for Leo Woodall, a British actor she befriended while in Sicily filming “The White Lotus.” She and Woodall bonded as fellow Slim Shady stans. “He can do all the freestyles from the film!”

WWE professional wrestler Becky Lynch expressed her feelings after picking up a huge win in the Women’s WarGames Match at Survivor Series, while also referencing Eminem‘s legendary song “Lose Yourself.”
The 2022 edition of WWE Survivor Series kicked off with the Women’s WarGames Match with Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair leading a team that also included Alexa Bliss, Asuka, Mia Yim & Becky Lynch. They faced off against Damage CTRL’s Bayley, IYO SKY & Dakota Kai along with Rhea Ripley and Nikki Cross.
After nearly 40 grueling minutes of action in the two rings surrounded by the massive cage, it was Becky Lynch getting the big win for her team. The conclusion of the match saw Lynch jump off the top of the WarGames cage with a leg drop splash onto Kai & Sky while putting them both through a table. Lynch pinned Sky to win the match.
During the post-show press conference, Becky could not resist not to reference “Lose Yourself,” when describing her feelings: “Lads, I was terrified. No, I was not terrified in the moment. I was terrified getting up there in practice today, I climbed up, I wanted to see the height of it. My palms were sweaty, knees weak, arms heavy, Mom’s spaghetti. No vomit on my sweater already.”
After releasing 11 solo studio albums, Eminem seems to be taking a break. Slim Shady‘s last album, Music To Be Murdered By, was released in January 2020, meaning, 1045 days have passed since the Rap God dropped full body of work.
Later that year, Eminem did release the deluxe edition of Music To Be Murdered By, feeding his fans with 16 new tracks, with guest appearances from Dr. Dre, Skylar Grey, DJ Premier and Ty Dolla $ign among others.
The album was a commercial success. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, selling 279,000 album-equivalent units in its first week. Subsequently, Eminem became the first artist to have 10 consecutive number-one albums in the US and one of 6 artists to have released at least 10 US number-one albums.
Another hip-hop giant who has not released a studio album for years is Jay-Z, who holds the record for the most number one albums in hip-hop history with 14 of his LPs hitting No. 1 on Billboard 200 charts. Last project Jay dropped was 1975 days ago, when he released “4:44” back in June, 2017.
The album was widely acclaimed by critics, who praised its emotional and personal content. It debuted at No. 1 on the US Billboard 200 with 262,000 album-equivalent units in its first week, making it Jay-Z’s 14th album to top the chart. Only The Beatles are ahead with 20 albums.
Lil Wayne is also making his fans thirsty off new music. Last time Weezy came out with full body of work was back in January, 2020 when he dropped Funeral album. The wait will soon probably be over as the legendary rapper has already announced two projects that are coming in near future: the sixth installment of Tha Carter series and third part of I Am Not a Human Being.
Funeral debuted atop the US Billboard 200 with 139,000 album-equivalent units sold, 38,000 of which were pure album sales. It marked Lil Wayne’s fifth US number-one album.

The 50th American Music Awards took place earlier this week in Los Angeles, at the Microsoft Theater. The show was hosted by Wayne Brady, produced by Clark Productions and ABC broadcasting network.
The star-studded event celebrated the best music and performances of 2022, as voted on by millions of fans.
Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny topped the list of nominees this year with the most nods, earning 8, including his first-ever for artist of the year but the night belonged to Taylor Swift, however, who won in all 6 categories for which she was nominated, including artist of the year, the night’s top honor. The wins cemented Swift as the most decorated artist in AMAs history, with 40 career wins.
Eminem was not nominated but the Detroit legend is 25 times nominee and 8 times winner. Last time Slim Shady received the nomination was back in 2014 when The Marshall Mathers LP 2 was nominated for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album and won. Eminem himself was also nominated for favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist but lost to Iggy Azalea.
Even though Eminem was nowhere to be found near the AMAs ceremony, Tinashe made sure his presence was not missing on the red carpet as she started rapping his iconic song “Lose Yourself” when HipHopDX’s journalist approached her: “His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy / There’s vomit on his sweater already, mom’s spaghetti / He’s nervous, but on the surface he looks calm and ready / To drop bombs, but he keeps on forgettin’ / What he wrote down, the whole crowd goes so loud / He opens his mouth, but the words won’t come out.” – she rapped.
Under the video, one user commented: “Tank top screaming ‘Tinashe I don’t fit you,'” referencing Eminem’s lines from 8 Mile’s battle scene, B-Rabbit against Lotto, where Shady raps: “Lookin’ like a cyclone hit you / Tank-top screamin’, “Lotto, I don’t fit you!”
