Break me and Travelodge me, see me and try to dodge me. Thought you were my brotha, n***a, told you to guide me. Put this knife inside a stomach n***a told you to hide me, Ay Dre, you don’t owe me nothing n***a I do this proudly!”

Last Friday, Eminem released an animated lyric video for his 2020 single “Tone Deaf,” from Music To Be Murdered By album, which appears to be a response to a TikTok campaign to the real Slim Shady. The video, in typical antagonistic Eminem fashion, features images of disgraced figures like Bill Cosby and Harvey Weinstein. This is the latest in a growing #canceleminem movement that has highlighted a divide between Millennial Eminem fans and younger Gen Z critics.
While sharing on social media, Eminem quoted: “I won’t stop even when my hair turns grey (I’m tone-deaf) / ‘Cause they won’t stop until they cancel me.” Watch the video below:
On this day, exactly 10 years ago (March 9, 2011), Eminem made The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) history as the Detroit legend became the first and the only hip hop artist to have two diamond selling album in the United States: “The Marshall Mathers LP (2000)” and “The Eminem Show (2002)” both albums sold more than 10 million units, each.
Additionally, Eminem has THREE diamond selling singles: “Lose Yourself (2002),” “Not Afraid (2010)” and “Love The Way You Lie (2010),” featuring Rihanna. Reportedly, “Recovery (2010)” album and “Curtain Call: The Hits (2005)” compilation are also close to diamond certifications.
Trae Tha Truth and Mysonne have recently released a new joint album “If You’re Scared, Stay Inside” and it includes a song “Lyrical Cypher,” featuring lyrical mastermind, Black Thought.
In the song, Trae Tha Truth references Eminem with the following lines:
“I’m shady like I’m Eminem These wack b**ches, I’ve been in them My staple thing no synonym My waves lately, they swimming in.”
Speaking to Matt Pinfield, Corey Taylor talked about the controversy surrounding an offensive Eminem lyric on “Love The Way You Lie” song with Rihanna which was started by young TikTokers.
“I was just reading about how Gen Z is trying to cancel Eminem because of one line that was in a Rihanna song that he did with her. And I am just like, is that where we are right now? I mean, at this point, you are talking about the Salem witch trials. You are talking about, you know, America in the ’20s where the KKK was like a political force. You are talking about complete condemnation without context or any rationalization for an action like that.”
“To me, that is the most dangerous, when the mob decides that you are gone. I mean, that is Caesar at the Colosseum, for God’s sakes. That is when it is dangerous. The level of censorship that we are starting to see and I am not saying that certain things have not been said that easily offend people. However, the flip side of that is that you ca not even make a joke anymore, even in the cleanest of situations.”
“It is starting to really kind of form in my head. I may actually write it soon. Because it is really kind of out of control out there right now. And there is not one hint of satire, There is no hint of Irony. It is just all-out rage and it is all through smartphones. And that is when it is really greedy, That is when it is really dirty. It can not be that way. If we can not have a conversation how the hell are we gonna communicate and if we can not understand the difference between metaphor and complete reality then we are in real trouble. And that is where I am leaning with the book.”
American media personality, YouTuber, model, and singer, Trisha Paytas, who made cameo in Eminem’s 2009 “We Made You” music video, has recently shared a clip of her speaking about Eminem, aimed to the recent ‘Cancel Eminem’ activity on TikTok.
