Get the tissues ready—Eminem hits us right in the feels again.
The Detroit legend releases the music video for his deeply emotional track “Temporary,” featuring Skylar Grey, as the fourth single from his 2024 album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) and fans are already bracing themselves for a tearjerker.
In a post on Instagram on Oct. 2., the Detroit native shared a picture of his daughter, Hailie Jade, as a child, taken on the iconic stage of The Eminem Show. The image was handcrafted into a card by Hailie herself, and the post included a poignant quote from the song: “It won’t be too long…” followed by the tag “#Temporary.” If that wasn’t enough to get fans tearing up, Em also dropped a sneak peek of the music video, which featured never-before-seen Polaroids of him and Hailie over the years. He then shared a snippet of the music “The tears are temporary,” he captioned the post, before revealing that the visuals for “Temporary” will drop tomorrow at 1 p.m. ET.
The full music video is now available on Eminem’s official YouTube channel. You can watch it below:
Last month, Eminem released his chart-topping, 12th solo studio album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), which includes a song “Temporary,” featuring Skylar Grey, produced by Skylar Grey and Eminem themselves.
“Temporary” is a song made for Hailie (Eminem’s only biological daughter) for her to listen to after Eminem dies. In this heartfelt track, Eminem reflects on his fears of not being able to communicate his feelings to Hailie once he’s gone. He recalls their close relationship, his struggles, and the guidance he wants to leave behind. Eminem emphasizes the importance of staying strong through tough times and assures Hailie that heartbreak is temporary. The song includes personal and candid moments, such as a childhood recording of Hailie, adding a layer of authenticity and intimacy. Throughout the song, Eminem balances expressing his deep love and concern for his daughter with his signature raw and unfiltered lyrical style.
Last week, Hailie shared her reaction to the song during the latest episode of her Just A Little Shady podcast, saying: “I audibly sobbed, I think for both songs [Somebody Save Me and Temporary], but especially ‘Temporary. I feel like my parents did such a good job, growing up, where I didn’t realize how bad things were. But now, as an adult, in hindsight, it’s so scary to think about and I think that’s why I get emotional so much.”
Yesterday, one of the fans shared his hand tattoo of “TEMPORARY” with backwards E merged to M, like an Eminem logo. Skylar Grey reshared the photo on her Instagram Story with the caption: “First tattoo I’ve seen of this title…What an honor! It looks so good!” Check out the screenshot of t he story below:
Skylar Grey has released an instrumental lofi album titled “Chill Vibes with Skylar Grey,” in collaboration with Nom De Plume.
Lo-fi is a music or production quality in which elements usually regarded as imperfections in the context of a recording or performance are present, sometimes as a deliberate choice. The standards of sound quality (fidelity) and music production have evolved throughout the decades, meaning that some older examples of lo-fi may not have been originally recognized as such. Lo-fi began to be recognized as a style of popular music in the 1990s, when it became alternately referred to as DIY music (from “do it yourself”).
The new album includes her greatest hits, including tracks with Eminem: “Last One Standing,” “I Need A Doctor, “Love The Way You Lie,” “Leaving Heaven,” “Black Magic,” and “Walk On Water.”
Yesterday, Eminem’s long-time friend and collaborator Skylar Grey shared a video of herself sitting in the car and wearing sweater that she received from Hailie Jade’s Just A Little Shady podcast merchandise. “Love my @justalittleshadypodcast fits @hailiejade” wrote Skylar in the caption with the heart emoji.
Last month, Hailie announced a new venture. The 27-year-old influencer revealed her new clothing line associated with her podcast, Just a Little Shady. “Get ready with me to launch my very first merch line,” announced the host on social media while doing her makeup. She detailed working on the brand “for like almost a year at this point,” adding the products could be worn as “regular” clothing, not just merchandise for her audio show.
Items include a hat, jogging pants, a sweatshirt, and a t-shirt. Prices range from $34.99 to $62.99. Fans can also purchase stickers for $5.
The social media star launched the Just A Little Shady podcast in July 2022, playing on her father’s Hip-Hop nickname Slim Shady. On the show, she and her cohost Brittany Ednie discuss their personal lives, childhood, careers, and pop culture.
Back in 2018, Eminem headlined nearly every major festivals, including Coachella, Governors Ball and Boston Calling amongst others with Skylar Grey, as a part of his REVIVAL tour.
The 2018 European Revival tour started off with nine dates in Germany, Italy, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom and the Rap God took his longtime friend and collaborator, Skylar Grey with him.
The pair performed some of Slim Shady’s biggest hits together on stage, including “Stan,” “Walk On Water,” and “Love The Way You Lie.”
Skylar Grey has recently posted a video of her and Eminem performing “Love The Way You Lie” in Milan, shoot by her fiancé Elliot Taylor from backstage. “Came across this behind the scenes video from 2018… man what a journey it’s been… filmed from side stage by Elliot Taylor.” she captioned the video.
Skylar Grey is original writer of “Love The Way You Lie” who recorded a demo of the song alongside the producer Alex da Kid when she felt she was in an abusive romantic relationship. Eminem wrote the verses and chose Rihanna to sing the chorus, resulting in a collaboration influenced by their past experiences in difficult relationships.
The Mazomanie, Wisconsin-born singer has recently released her version of the song under the name “Love The Way You Lie,” (Part 3) from her greatest hits album. You can listen to the song below:
“Last One Standing,” a song by Skylar Grey, featuring Polo G, Mozzy, and Eminem is now certified Gold by RIAA in the United States, meaning the single has now sold more than 500,000 units in the country.
The DJ Frank E and Danny Majic produced song was made for the 2021 movie Venom: Let There Be Carnage. The song was released on September 30, 2021, the day before the release of the film. The track debuted at No. 78 on the US Billboard Hot 100 charts, making it Skylar Grey’s first entry on the chart as a lead artist and Mozzy’s first overall entry on the chart.
Skylar Grey celebrated her achievement on Twitter. “This is a first for me! Through all my years in this game and all the gold and platinum records I’ve been a part of, this is the first time MY NAME’S AT THE TOP,” she writes. “And did this s–t as an INDIE artist! Thank you to Mozzy, Polo G and Eminem.”
Then she continues: “Thanks to the FANS for streaming sharing downloading listening!!!!! Could not have achieved this without each and every one of you…. So grateful so blessed.”

Couple of years ago, Skylar Grey talked about how the song came together: “The hook of ‘Last One Standing’ I had like five years. When I write a lot of songs sometimes they don’t find a home and they just sit in a Dropbox folder for years. This is one of those situations but it was just a hook and a track and when we find out Sony Pictures wanted to use it for Venom we decided to put some rappers on it. Polo G and Mozzy where first rappers we got on it. And I have a history of working with Eminem. He did the first Venom movie titled song. So I was like it would make sense to have him on this too because it would pay homage to the original so I hit him up and he agreed to get on it so here we are.”
“I used to say ‘oh I do not get star-struck’ but I was just traying to be too cool. I still get star-struck working with Eminem. I listened to him since I was a kid and I can not believe he has been so supportive. We have done over a dozen songs together and whether he knows it or not he is like my mentor but it is just weird and yeah I am still star-struck by that.” – says Skylar.
During the recent interview with Numéro Netherlands, Skylar revealed that she is re-recorded greatest hits album will probably include Last One Standing, among other big hits like “Love The Way You Lie” and “I Need A Doctor.”
This might be the first RIAA certification for Grey as a lead singer but she has numerous platinum certifications, including double platinum “I Need A Doctor” with Eminem and Dr. Dre and platinum “Glorious” with Macklemore.
Skylar Grey has recently sat down with fashion and lifestyle magazine Numéro Netherlands where the Mazomanie, Wisconsin-born singer and songwriter revealed that she is releasing re-recorded greatest hits album in near future. Check the conversation after the jump below:
You released the strip down version of “Love The Way You Lie” that you also wrote. How is it to get the credit for this amazing song, so long after it became worldwide success? Because you deserve it.
Most of the world doesn’t pay attention to who wrote or produced a song. Re-recording “Love The away You Lie” myself has helped me step out from the shadows and get recognized for my work. I’m super grateful for the huge success the song had with Eminem and Rihanna, but I never set out to write songs for other people to sing. That was never the career I envisioned for myself. Yeah, I got paid which is awesome, but it’s a very personal song. So, when people acknowledge my work on it, I feel more fulfilled spiritually.
Is there any artist you would like to collaborate with yourself?
I’ve already had my dream collaboration: Eminem. Multiple times. And I’d like to keep doing more with him. For me it doesn’t get any better than that. There are many other people I would love to work with, but if I never collaborated with another artist else again I’d die happy.
What are your plans for the future? Any new albums or exciting projects?
This year I’ll be dropping a Greatest Hits album which will include re-recorded versions of hit songs I’ve been a part of… “Love the Way You Lie,” “Coming Home,” and “Clarity”, to name a few. And I’ll be performing at a bunch of events. But I’m also simultaneously working on brand new music, which I’m most excited about. It’s in very early stages but will let you know when the project really starts taking shape.
Skylar Grey has already released her own version of “Love The Way You Lie” (Part 3) as a lead single for the upcoming project. She has provided vocals on several huge hit singles, such as Fort Minor’s “Where’d You Go”, Diddy’s “Coming Home”, Dr. Dre’s “I Need a Doctor”, Nicki Minaj’s “Bed of Lies”, Macklemore’s “Glorious” and Illenium’s “From The Ashes”. Additionally, she has written songs for a number of prominent artists in the music industry, including Kehlani, G-Eazy, Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, Zedd, Nick Jonas, Céline Dion, and CeeLo Green. Back in 2011, Eminem, Rihanna, Dr. Dre, Skylar Grey and Adam Levine performed “Love The Way You Lie (Part 2)” and “I Need A Doctor” at the 53rd annual Grammy awards.
Couple of days ago, Skylar Grey revealed that she was not satisfied by her performance and Eminem gave her a big kiss to calm her down. Skylar shared a short video of the show on Instagram with the caption:
“The most surreal moment in my life as a performer,” she said “I dreamed about being on that stage since childhood. After we got off stage, Em gave me a big kiss on the cheek and seemed very pleased with the performance. However, I locked myself in my dressing room and cried because I thought I did not sing good! Will forever be hard on myself but I guess that is what keeps me reaching…”
It’s not the first time the singer recalls the surreal moment of her career. In the Genius annotation, Skylar Grey wrote: “The most amazing thing for me with this was getting to perform at the Grammys with Dr. Dre and Eminem (‘I Need A Doctor’) when Rihanna opened up our medley with ‘Love The Way You Lie.’ That was a really special moment in my life.”
“I Need A Doctor” is a cinematic song detailing the relationship between Eminem and Dr. Dre. The song is produced by Alex da Kid and was supposed to be included in mystical Dre album, DETOX. In the song, Em raps about Dre being stuck creatively, unable to make music the way he used to due to his grief and depression. Em, who went through this himself after his best friend died in 2006, is making a passionate attempt to get through to him so Dre will start believing in his own abilities again.
That night at the Grammys, Eminem had most nominations than any artist and won Best Rap Solo Performance for “Not Afraid,” beating “Over” by Drake, “How Low” by Ludacris, “I’m Back” by T.I. and “Power” by Kanye West and Best Rap Album for Recovery, besting The Adventures Of Bobby Ray by B.o.B., “Thank Me Later” by Drake, “The Blueprint 3” by Jay-Z and “How I Got Over” by The Roots.
Skylar Grey, who has originally wrote Eminem and Rihanna’s diamond selling single “Love The Way You Lie,” releases her own version of the song as a part three which will probably be included in her upcoming new project.
“This was by far the proudest moment of my career as a songwriter so far. Dropping this newly recorded version of Love The Way You Lie Part III on February 10th, 2023.” said Skylar last week.
Later, Skylar shared the Grammys certificate she received as the writer of the song. In the caption, she wrote: “Nostalgia is strong this week… Remembering the 3 Grammy nominations I got for “Love The Way You Lie,” as a songwriter for Song of the Year and Best Rap Song, and as a producer on Rihanna’s “Loud” album. I remember I was so bummed when we lost Song of the Year to “Need You Now” by Lady Antebellum! (Great song though.) Can’t wait for you all to hear my 2023 recording of “Love The Way You Lie Part III” dropping this Friday!”

Skylar Grey wrote and recorded a demo of the song alongside the producer Alex da Kid when she felt she was in an abusive romantic relationship with the music industry. Latest post by Skylar Grey has fans buzzing in the social media as long-time Eminem friend and collaborator posts new picture on Instagram, wearing a t-shirt with “I Love The Way You Lie” written on it.
In the caption, she writes: “Things are happening…” but that’s not the reason why fans got too excited. Skylar tagged Eminem and Rihanna on the picture that sparked rumors of them collaborating once again.
Fans think of three theories:
Some think there is a new song coming out as there is a supposedly new album cover in the screen in front of Skylar.
Others think it’s just Skylar showing love to Eminem and Rihanna by rocking the t-shirt of their biggest hit song from Recovery.
And few of them think Skylar Grey is releasing an album that includes her greatest hits, including “Love The Way You Lie,” “Coming Home,” “Walk On Water and “I Need A Doctor.”
The third theory is less possible to happen, as Skylar Grey has recently sold all her royalties to pay for divorce expenses and I’m not sure if she is allowed to record and album of her past-written songs.
First theory is possible. Whenever there is Skylar Grey or Eminem album coming out, we always see each other featured on their own albums and as Skylar recently revealed, Eminem was so supportive after her financial difficulties. She also hinted on something with Em last year.
Out of these three, the second theory looks to be the most realistic. Skylar Grey just showed love to Eminem and Rihanna with the t-shirt and and probably took the opportunity to poke the fans.
If there is a new song coming out, it would mark 11th song they have made together. You can check out the list of all Eminem and Skylar Grey songs below:

2. Eminem – “Black Magic,” ft. Skylar Grey (2020)
3. Eminem – “Leaving Heaven,” ft. Skylar Grey (2019)

Skylar Grey has recently told her fans on Instagram to ask some unique questions. “Ask me something. Unique questions only…” – she wrote on her story while sharing one of her newest photos.
One user asked: “Are there any lyrics that you regret writing or do not believe anymore?” On which she replied: “Oh so many lyrics I have written that I no longer relate to…But no regrets.
Then she continues: “But I do sometimes wish I had not done that silly bicycle song. I was still finding my way back then. I would have so much rather done a dark beautiful song and video with Eminem…I feel like I kinda blew that opportunity. I was after a ‘hit’ rather than just making art.”
Skylar Grey and Eminem have made 10 songs together and “C’mon Let Me Ride” is one of them. The song dropped in 2012 from Skylar’s “Don’t Look Down” album and it is produced by Alexa da Kid. It samples the chorus of the 1978 hit song “Bicycle Race” by Queen.
The song is meant to poke fun at the prevalent theme of s-x in current pop music. Sky and Em use euphemisms for s-x in an exaggerated, sarcastic interpretation of what pop music is seemingly all about.
“The video is a combined effort between director Isaac Rentz, me and Eminem, and we just wanted to make sure it was very clear that it’s a sarcastic song.” said Skylar Grey in the interview.
