The Cleveland Browns provided one of the biggest surprises of the Week 8 Sunday slate with their win over division rival Baltimore and Jameis Winston played big role in it. That victory snapped the Browns’ five-game losing streak and ended the Ravens’ five-game winning streak.
Cleveland had their best offensive performance of the season behind backup quarterback Jameis Winston. He completed 27 of 41 passes for 334 yards and three touchdowns, including the go-ahead touchdown to Cedric Tillman in the game’s final minute.
After the game, Winston quoted Eminem when asked about getting his first start since 2022: “There’s a white boy from Detroit that I really admire named Eminem. He said, ‘You only get one shot. Do not miss your chance to blow. This opportunity lasts once in a lifetime.'”
Winston nearly had that part of the chorus to Eminem’s song “Lose Yourself” perfectly correct. Except the final line is, “This opportunity comes once in a lifetime,” but Winston got the point across. You can watch the interview below:
“There’s a white boy from Detroit that I really admire, named Eminem”
Motor City legend Eminem is expected to make an appearance at the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit, set to take place at Campus Martius Park and Hart Plaza from April 25th to April 27th.
What is the NFL Draft?
It’s pretty much exactly what it sounds like — it’s when the 32 teams of the NFL choose their newest players from the latest generation of football phenoms.
When is the NFL Draft?
Officially, it starts April 25 at noon and runs through 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 27. But you can find draft-themed attractions and events before and after. The NFL shop, for example, located at 1001 Woodward Ave., opens for business April 20 at 10 a.m. It’ll run for four days before opening again April 25. Round one of draft picks begins at 8 p.m. The second and third round begins at 7 p.m. on April 26. Rounds four through seven start at noon on April 27.
When are the Lions up in the draft?
The Lions have seven total picks, including the 29th overall pick in the first round. From there, it’s No. 61 in Round 2, No. 73 in Round 3 (which they got from the Minnesota Vikings), No. 164 in Round 5, No. 201 (from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers) and No. 205 in Round 6, and No. 249 in Round 7. These can change, though. Teams can trade at any time, including during the draft itself.
Will there be entertainment?
Yes! Detroit native Big Sean will headline a series of free concerts tied to the NFL Draft. And Motor City’s beloved Detroit Youth Choir also will perform, along with Canton-raised singer Bazzi. The concerts will be held on the Draft Theater stage and are standing room only, and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
What kind of food will be available at the NFL Draft?
No matter what you like to eat, you will probably be able to find something at the “Taste of the Town” tailgate. A small collection of the many local restaurants featured, according to the NFL
Waka by Baobab Fare
Detroit 75 Kitchen
Haraz Coffee House
Mom’s Spaghetti (yes, this is Eminem ‘s restaurant)
The NFC Championship Game between the Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers will take place in California the next week to determine who would represent the their cities at Super Bowl LVIII.
Detroit Lions handled their business Sunday afternoon defeating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the score 31-23, to set up next week’s matchup at Levi’s Stadium. San Francisco, the No. 1 seed in the NFC, earned the right to host the Lions by beating the Green Bay Packers Saturday night.
Like the previous game against Los Angeles Rams last week, Eminem attended Lions’ game yesterday at Ford Field with his family and friends, including Bizarre from D12. Em was all fired up again and the crowd loved it! Seconds before the game, “Lose Yourself” was played and Slim Shady appeared on JumboTron, as hyped as ever. This time, Eminem didn’t wear a Kangol hat and a hoodie but Detroit Lions’ Barry Sanders t-shirt and cap.
Check out the crowds reaction when Eminem appeared on the big screen:
Pop and country music superstar Taylor Swift has faced a lot of criticism from football fans about the attention she gets when she attends Kansas City Chiefs games. But on Sunday, Swifties (a fandom of Taylor Swift) started fighting back by noting the warm response to Eminem’s presence at Ford Field stadium during a game between the Detroit Lions and the Los Angeles Rams.
Ever since Taylor started dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, she has been spotted watching the games in person ― to the point where the practice of TV cameras cutting away to her has spurred some criticism.
Few days ago, Swift responded the criticism, saying: “I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads…There’s a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is, and you have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or once.”
Late last week, former Nation Football League coach Tony Dungy told Fox News that the coverage of Taylor Swift’s attendance at Kansas City Chiefs games might be “disenchanting people with sports now,” and claimed that “there’s so much on the outside coming in ― entertainment value and different things taking away from what really happens on the field.”
Unlike Taylor, Eminem received a massive love from football players and fans to commentators and sport journalists last night at Ford Field during a historic match between the Detroit Lions and the Los Angeles Rams and that’s where the mockery began.
“The same MAGATs who cry Taylor Swift (female) is ruining football (by simply being there and cheering) are strangely quiet about Eminem (male) being there and cheering! The crowd of 65,000 loved it, singing Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” at the Rams/Lions game.” One user said on X, formerly known as Twitter. Another said: “Why is it okay for Eminem to rock out and cheer at NFL games, but if Taylor Swift does it, it’s distracting? #Swifties.” Someone said: “They’ve cut to Eminem multiple times I wonder why no one’s complaining.”
Football and Eminem fans also responded to the debate with someone saying: “Em was Born & raised in Detroit. Lifelong Lions fan. Reppin his team in Detroit at a home game. Swift is not a football fan but a celebrity getting coverage for wrong reasons. Another said: “He’s a Lions fan from Detroit, this game was in Detroit. Of course he’s going to get cheered. She got booed in New England for supporting KC (the road team). Of course she’s going to get booed. It truly is not more complicated than this and is not a story (and I like Taylor).” One user said: “Showing Eminem on the tv is not running football. Eminem was a fan before he was famous. He is not like Taylor Swift who slept with a player and then started watching football.”
You can check out the reactions in the video below:
Before Detroit Lions’ historic win over Los Angeles Rams, Eminem appeared on NBC’s Sunday Night Football where the legendary hip-hop artist gave the players the motivation they needed.
“This is the story about what a football team can mean to a city. For far too long, Detroit has been on receiving in of losing seasons and bad punchlines. You try to shut out the noise but after a while it starts to live in your head. This means, when a dude like this [Matthew Stafford] comes into town, the conversation changes. We finally had a reason to feel good about where his team was heading. He was all in and so were we until we weren’t. Maybe we weren’t patient enough but we let him go to a city in a team that was in different kind of rebuild and then we sat home and we watched him win it all. It was a true Hollywood ending.” said Eminem, while “Survival” was playing in the background.
Then he continued: “So, for us, back to the lab again, rebuilding, once again. But wait a minute! Something felt different for this time and this guy [Jared Goff], with a little help from this guy [Dan Campbell] made us all realize that maybe history was not repeating itself. It’s all come down to this, for a city, its team and their fans who have been waiting for this night for 30 years. Two teams and two players forever linked. Detroit don’t get a whole lot of Hollywood endings. But tonight, we have a shot. And we get our shot…well, you know what comes after that. Lions, Rams, on Wild Card Sunday Night. Let’s go!”
Detroit Lions official social media pages also shared a video of Eminem pumping up the team. The video, which is captioned “There’s a storm comin'”, features a simple message from Em before cutting to a video of highlights from the season set to the tune of one of his hit songs from Recovery album, “Cinderella Man.” At the beginning of the video, Eminem addressed the hungry Lions fanbase by saying “Detroit Lions, Let’s go” with a vicious finger point at the camera while donning his signature scowl.
Detroit legend Eminem appears in the latest Amazon Prime Video’s documentary “Bye Bye Barry” about former American football player Barry Sanders, a running back who played for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League for 10 seasons.
Sanders led the league in rushing yards four times and in rushing touchdowns once, establishing himself as one of the most elusive runners in the history of the NFL with his quickness and agility, despite being only 5 ft 8 in tall and weighing 203 lbs.
In 1997, Barry Sanders rushed for 2,053 yards in the regular season and was awarded the NFL Most Valuable Player Award (MVP), alongside his second NFL Offensive Player of the Year Award. While still performing at a high level, Sanders unexpectedly retired from professional football in 1999, at the age of 31, and 1,457 yards short of breaking the NFL’s then all-time rushing record held by Walter Payton. He cited the Lions’ front office and declining team production as reasons for his retirement.
In one of the segment of the documentary, Eminem says: “I’ve seen every documentary on Barry Sanders that there is to see and I never walked away feeling like I knew why he walked away. Still to this day, everybody talks about he is the greatest running back that ever played the game and I know that he walked away at a time when he could have broken every single record there ever was and ever will be. So, why did he walk away?!” while his “Cinderella Man,” song from Recovery (2010) album playing in the background.
Then continued: “It just made him so much more likable that fact that he was that good, I’ve never seen somebody be that good in something and be so humble.”
Yesterday, Eminem appeared on Thursday Night Football on Prime network, talking about former American football player Barry Sanders, a running back who played for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League for 10 seasons.

He cited the Lions’ front office and declining team production as reasons for his retirement.
last night, during the latest episode of Thursday Night Football, Barry Sanders was the main topic of discussion and unexpectedly, Eminem also tuned in. “I’ve seen every documentary on Barry Sanders that there is to see and I never walked away feeling like I knew why he walked away. And I know that he walked away at a time when he could have broken every single record there ever was and ever will be.” said Em.
The 2023 NFL Draft, which took place in Kansas City this past weekend, was certainly remarkable. The draft had it all—surprise picks, pick announcements by current and former players, trades, amazing music, and more. The musical acts that played at this year’s draft included Fall Out Boy, Mötley Crüe, and Thundercat.
The location of the upcoming draft will be Detroit, Michigan, the hometown of the rapper Eminem. Pat McAfee is promoting and toying with the notion of having Slim Shady perform at the draft in his hometown the next year. McAfee proposed it being a crazy idea for Roger Goodell to walk out quoting Eminem’s lyrics before his performance.
“The whole thought of Eminem potentially performing in next year’s draft is what keeps me around. You know what I mean? You only get one shot… Imagine Roger Goodell coming out with ‘Don’t miss your chance to blow, this opportunity comes once in a lifetime. Yooo!” – Pat McAfee
Eminem has performed for the National Football League before. He performed alongside Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Kendrick Lamar, Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige and Anderson .Paak during last year’s Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime show. The Detroit legend performed “Forgot About Dre” and his iconic single “Lose Yourself.”
For the second time in just four years, the Kansas City Chiefs are NFL Super Bowl champions! The Chiefs, led by star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 in Glendale, Arizona, on Sunday.
Harrison Butker kicked a 27-yard field goal with eight seconds left to all but cinch the victory. Mahomes, who threw for three touchdowns and 182 yards, was named the game’s Most Valuable Player. The player was also named the league’s MVP on Thursday.
Rihanna delivered an electrifying and hit-heavy Super Bowl half-time show at Sunday’s Super Bowl, but social media went into meltdown when the singer revealed an unexpected special guest.
Naturally, fans assumed Rihanna would bring out one of the many artists she’s collaborated with during her illustrious career. A guest spot from Jay-Z, Drake or Eminem seemed both likely and in keeping with the half-time show tradition of surprise duets.
The singer may have failed to debut any new music during her performance at Sunday’s Super Bowl, but the baby bump she debuted instead almost broke the internet.
Eminem was not the surprise guest but the National Football League (NFL) used his song “Legacy” from The Marshall Mathers LP 2 album for the promo of the game. You can watch the video below:
Eminem’s “Legacy” plays on the promo video for the #SuperBowl tonight 🐐
This week’s episode of Hard Knocks featured a very special guest. Eminem, Mr. Porter and Paul Rosenberg visited Detroit Lions’ training ground to see what’s going on.
National Football League shared a clip of Eminem at Detroit’s facility this Tuesday. In the video, Lions head coach Dan Campbell praised the legendary rapper.
“A lot of respect for you. Nobody represents this city more than you do, so it’s a pleasure to have you out here.” – Campbell told Eminem.
“He might be on my list of like, holy s**t,” Jared Goff said.
Eminem, who toured the Lions facility (“Ain’t this the room where I saw Aidan doing the Billie Jean s**t?”), told the Detroit roster that they had a good team, and he also mentioned that he’d been hoping the Lions would be featured on Hard Knocks.
“You know what’s crazy. You know when you’re just playing catch with someone in the street or whatever, then you get on a real field, and you f**king throw that b**ch as far as you can, and it’s like 10 yards.” said Eminem.
The Detroit legend also surprised the players with Mom’s Spaghetti meals.

The Detroit Lions may have just finalized their initial 53-man roster but they will have a backup player if they need one and it’s legendary rapper, Eminem!
In a video posted on Twitter the NFL today, the Detroit legend, who still calls Metro Detroit home, spends some time at a Lions training ground, shaking hands with several players and offering to step into any position they need.
“We got a good team this year. Let’s go! said Slim Shady, wearing a black hat, sunglasses and a blue jacket. “I’m going to lace up. I’ll go to every game. I’ll stand on the sideline. And if you guys need to put me, put me in. Any position I’m good. Actually, at any position I’m great. I’mma just say.”
The Detroit Lions open their season on September 11, 2022 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Faizon Love has recently set down with DJ Vlad for an interview where the two talked about many things, including ‘cancel culture.’
DJ Vlad agrees to people who complain about why the cancel culture fired NFL’s Raiders coach Jon Gruden over the emails in which he used sexist, homophobic and transphobic language but Eminem is allowed to perform at NFL’s Halftime Show after calling Tyler The Creator the f- word in a song “Fall,” from Kamikaze album, released in 2018.
“What people now are pointing out when they are talking about NFL is, for example, at Halftime Show there’s gonna be Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar and Eminem and as recent as 2018 Eminem was saying fa**ot in his verses. He is rapping ‘Tyler The Creator I see why you call yourself a fa**ot, b**ch’ and this is recent Eminem. This is not 1998 Eminem. No, this is recent Eminem, so you are going to fire this coach over an old emails that was way before 2018 but Eminem could perform at NFL Halftime show, saying the f- word in a recent song and that’s okay. It’s a bit of slippery slope. This is weird ass cancel culture.”
“YouTube took down two of R. Kelly’s channels because of his conviction. So you gonna tell me that anyone that is convicted of something can’t be on YouTube? You gotta take down anyone with criminal record? Where is it going with this?” says DJ Vlad
