Someone donated $25k for Imagine Dragons to perform Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” at 2024 TRF Gala

LAS VEGAS, NV,U.S. — The hometown heroes IMAGINE DRAGONS are back for a concert that they call their “most important of the year.”

The Grammy Award-winning group Imagine Dragons, formed in Las Vegas, hosted their annual Tyler Robinson Foundation (TRF) Gala to raise money for families dealing with pediatric cancer. The band says this friendship started from one Facebook message and led to a difference-making movement for pediatric cancer families.

The 2024 Rise Up Gala, organized by the Tyler Robinson Foundation (TRF), features Imagine Dragons performing live. The event was scheduled for September 20, 2024, at Wynn Las Vegas.

The Tyler Robinson Foundation says its mission is to, “strengthen families financially and emotionally as they cope with the tragedy of a pediatric cancer diagnosis by offsetting out-of-pocket life expenses.”

During the performance, one of the donators in the audience offered $25,000 for donation if they could perform Eminem‘s magnum opus single “Lose Yourself,” from 2002’s “8 Mile” soundtracks album. “Lose Yourself? Oh, you have $25,000? Well, we gotta try! Don’t we?! We’ve never done this but we will try. For $25,000? pediatric cancer? let me untuck my shirt for this.I just want to be clear that we have never done this. But it’s $25,000, I can see now.” said the frontman of the group Dan Reynolds before kicking the epic performance. You can watch it below.

Kamala Harris’ convention in Chicago was accompanied by an Eminem song while Michigan pledged their support

Some of the biggest and iconic songs in history were the part of the soundtrack to the official nomination of Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday evening at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, as delegations from all 50 states and several territories pledged their support to Ms. Harris and her running mate, Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota.

The music was mixed and organized by DJ Cassidy, a mainstay of Democratic conventions dating to 2012, who tried to pair the music with the state whose delegates were speaking. The process of compiling the playlist took about a month, and he worked with each state’s delegation to find a song that captured a spirit of “unity and celebration” and had meaning to the state.

DJ Cassidy used Eminem‘s “Lose Yourself” when it was Michigan’s turn to pledge their support for Kamala Harris. Dr. Dre’s “Next Episode” was also chosen for California, alongside to 2Pac’s “California Love” and Kendrick Lamar’s “Alright” and “Not Like Us.”  The following is a list of the songs that accompanied each state and territory for Kamala Harris convention:

Alabama — “Sweet Home Alabama,” by Lynyrd Skynyrd (which formed in Florida).
Alaska — “Feel It Still,” by Portugal. The Man, originally from Alaska.
Arizona — “Edge of Seventeen,” by Stevie Nicks, a native of Phoenix.
Arkansas — “Don’t Stop,” by Fleetwood Mac, the 1992 campaign song for Bill Clinton, the former governor of Arkansas.

California — “Next Episode” by Dr. Dre, then “California Love,” by Tupac, followed by “Alright” and “Not Like Us,” both by Kendrick Lamar, a selection of hip-hop songs about the state and by some of its most famous artists.

Connecticut — “Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours,” by Stevie Wonder. Connecticut is known as the Constitution State.

Democrats Abroad — “Love Train,” by the O’Jays. (“People around the world, join hands,” the lyrics say.)
District of Columbia — “Let Me Clear Me Throat,” by DJ Kool, one of the earliest rap artists from Washington, D.C.
Delaware — “Higher Love,” by Kygo and Whitney Houston. President Biden, Delaware’s favorite son, has played this song regularly at his events, including after his acceptance speech in 2020.

Florida — “I Won’t Back Down,” by Florida’s own Tom Petty, and used by Florida politicians for decades, including, most recently, Gov. Ron DeSantis.

“Lose Yourself” being played as Eminem enters Boulevard Hall during Fury & Ngannou fight

Ngannou was making his boxing debut on Saturday, October 28, against The Gypsy King, who retained his belt in 2022 by defeating Derek Chisora. Lucky for Fury, his WBC title was not on the line in this fight.

This was the first time that a world-class boxer came up against an MMA fighter since 2017, when Floyd Mayweather came up against Conor “The Notorious” McGregor.

With such a high stakes fight on the cards, celebrities flocked the Boulevard Hall in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to perhaps get a taste of the highly-hyped fight.

For some like legendary boxer Mike Tyson, he was there as more than just a spectator as he was the one who trained Ngannou in the build up to the fight.

There was also the presence of past and present UFC fighters including Conor McGregor, Israel Adesanya and Chuck Liddell, while other boxing stars like Oscar De La Hoya, Evander Holyfield and Larry Holmes also graced the arena with their presence.

Football was also well represented as both Cristiano Ronaldo and Brazilian legend Ronaldo Nazario were in attendance; while CR7’s former teammate Rio Ferdinand was also spotted exchanging niceties with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

Of course, Hip-Hop did not miss the chance to see the “Battle Of The Baddest,” as Eminem, Kanye West and Lil Baby were in presence. The Boulevard arena also enjoyed “Lose Yourself” as Slim Shady, Royce 5’9″ and Paul Rosenberg walked in to occupy their seats.

Emma, a 14-year-old from Vienna, Austria, is not only a phenomenal singer but also a rapper, and her appearance on The Voice Kids did not let us down.

Emma decided to perform Eminem’s 2004 hit single “Mockingbird” from the Encore album at Germany’s The Voice Kids 2023 in order to show that young females can also rap. All the judges turned around right away, and she brought tears to her family members’ eyes.

The Voice Kids is a junior version of The Voice of Germany and a reality talent program produced in Germany by John de Mol. The program was created for kids between the ages of 7 and 15 and is based on the original The Voice Kids of Holland.

Surprisingly the little girl received Eminem’s attention. The official account of The Voice Kids posted Emma’s performance on TikTok with the caption: “Emma is here to bring Eminem’s ‘Mockingbird’ to the world.” In the comments, Eminem replied with “Face with Raised Eyebrow.” Delighted admin of The Voice Kids responded: “The Real Slim Shady is in da house!”

In the next round, Emma performed Tupac’s “Changes” and now she’s back with Eminem’s iconic single “Lose Yourself.” You can watch the performance below:

F1 driver Logan Sargeant reveals an Eminem song he listens to before racing

Formula 1 driver Logan Sargeant has recently sat down on GQ Magazine where the young racer listed ten things he can’t live without. From his Williams Racing helmet and an Eminem CD to a ton of Miami sports memorabilia and his passport, these are the Logan Sargeant’s essentials. (Check the video after the jump below)

“Knees weak, arms are heavy, there’s vomit on his sweater already, mom’s spaghetti, he’s nervous, but on the surface he looks calm and ready to drop bombs. It’s a good song!” says Logan Sargeant.

Then he continues: “So we got an 8 Mile CD right here. I’m just calling out one track, which is “Lose Yourself.” It is literally my hype song. It has always been — to get me in the mode I need to get into before a race. You know, you have been through it. You have done everything to get to that moment. You gotta make it count, as it says.

Israel Adesanya compared rematch with Alex Pereira to Eminem in “8 Mile”

Israel Adesanya defeated Alex Pereira in the second round to avenge his lone loss in the UFC at middleweight, pulling off a surprise knockout victory to reclaim the title at UFC 287 in Miami.

Adesanya desired a speedy rematch after losing to Pereira in November cost him the 185-pound (84 kg) championship crown that he had held since 2019.

Before the fight, during the press conference, Israel Adesanya compared this fight to Eminem in the 8 Mile movie. He even used some lyrics his Oscar and Grammy-winning single “Lose Yourself.”

“I’m down two fights in kickboxing, one fight in MMA, so I’m down three, and this is like in every movie — your one shot. This is my Eminem moment, my ‘8 Mile‘ moment. You get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow, this opportunity comes once in a lifetime, and this is it. This is it for me. Imagine what if I get it done!? What if I get it done better than he has ever done it. What if I butchered and beat the f–k out of him?!”

LeBron James shares a video of him & his daughter rapping to Eminem’s “Lose Yourself”

Music and Basketball fans often get to see LeBron James bobbing his head to new releases, especially to a rap music. The Basketball legend loves posting videos of himself enjoying music and jamming along to the beat.

However, its rare to see James’ eight-year-old daughter enjoy some music. Few hour ago, Lebron posted a video of himself and his daughter Zhuri James reciting Eminem’s Oscar and Grammy winning song “Lose Yourself.” James captioned the video: “My babe loves this song!! Great DNA!!”

This is not the first time a celebrity’s daughter is listening to an Eminem song. Couple of weeks ago, Kim Kardashian posted a video of her and Kanye West’s daughters enjoying listening to Eminem’s “Big Weenie” song from Encore album. The video went viral on TikTok and collected more than 43 million views in few days.

It was not the first time Kanye West’s daughters are bumping an Eminem song. Last year, they lip-synced over his classic song “The Real Slim Shady” from The Marshall Mathers LP album.

Kanye once even revealed that his daughter’s most favorite song is “Use This Gospel” and thanked Eminem for doing the remix of the song on Twitter “EMINEM THANK YOU FOR RAPPING ON THE DR DRE REMIX OF USE THIS GOSPEL I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED AND RESPECTED YOU AND IM HONORED TO HAVE YOU BLESS THIS SONG … ITS ALSO NORTH WEST’S FAVORITE KANYE WEST SONG OF ALL TIME.”

Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” was played before Morocco vs Spain penalty shootout at FIFA World Cup 2022

Qatar is the first Arab country to host the FIFA World Cup and it has produced the Arab world’s first quarterfinalist: MOROCCO.

In the history of World Cup, Morocco became only the 4th African country to reach the quarterfinals at the biggest Football tournament in the world by surprisingly beating one of the most finest European football country, Spain, 3-0 in a penalty shootout after a 0-0 draw all the way through the extra time.

The Moroccans has played only their second knockout game at a World Cup history. Other Arab nations that participated in this tournament were Qatar (the hosts), Saudi Arabia and Tunisia but all of them were eliminated in the group stages, even though Saudi Arabia began the tournament with one of the biggest upsets in history by defeating Maradona and Messi’s home country: ARGENTINA.

The game’s 120 minutes could not reveal the winner so the penalty shootout was ahead. To give the players motivation, Eminem‘s biggest hit, Oscar and Grammy-winning song “Lose Yourself” was played at the Education City Stadium.

“They are now playing Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” before the Spain vs Morocco penalty shootout. I wonder who Slim Shady would support.” wrote ESPN FC journalist Cesar Hernandez on his social media accounts.

Tinashe raps Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” at the 2022 American Music Awards red carpet

Image: Tinashe & Eminem

The 50th American Music Awards took place earlier this week in Los Angeles, at the Microsoft Theater. The show was hosted by Wayne Brady, produced by Clark Productions and ABC broadcasting network.

The star-studded event celebrated the best music and performances of 2022, as voted on by millions of fans.

Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny topped the list of nominees this year with the most nods, earning 8, including his first-ever for artist of the year but the night belonged to Taylor Swift, however, who won in all 6 categories for which she was nominated, including artist of the year, the night’s top honor. The wins cemented Swift as the most decorated artist in AMAs history, with 40 career wins.

Eminem was not nominated but the Detroit legend is 25 times nominee and 8 times winner. Last time Slim Shady received the nomination was back in 2014 when The Marshall Mathers LP 2 was nominated for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album and won. Eminem himself was also nominated for favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist but lost to Iggy Azalea.

Even though Eminem was nowhere to be found near the AMAs ceremony, Tinashe made sure his presence was not missing on the red carpet as she started rapping his iconic song “Lose Yourself” when HipHopDX’s journalist approached her: “His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy / There’s vomit on his sweater already, mom’s spaghetti / He’s nervous, but on the surface he looks calm and ready / To drop bombs, but he keeps on forgettin’ / What he wrote down, the whole crowd goes so loud / He opens his mouth, but the words won’t come out.” – she rapped.

Under the video, one user commented: “Tank top screaming ‘Tinashe I don’t fit you,'” referencing Eminem’s lines from 8 Mile’s battle scene, B-Rabbit against Lotto, where Shady raps: “Lookin’ like a cyclone hit you / Tank-top screamin’, “Lotto, I don’t fit you!”
