Riggs Morales says J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar & Kid Cudi were considered to sign to Eminem’s Shady Records

Last year on A Waste of Time podcast with ItsTheReal, former Shady Records and current Atlantic Records VP of A&R and Artist Development Riggs Morales discussed choosing David Banner, Juelz Santana and most famously, Eminem, for the Unsigned Hype column. Riggs also reminisced on his time as an A&R for Shady Records during their dominant years, putting together the 8 Mile soundtrack with Slim Shady and seeing what a genius mind 50 Cent is from the moment he signed.

During the podcast, Morales revealed that Pitbull, Dead Prez, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Kid Cudi and Juelz Santana were all considered to be signed to Eminem’s Shady Records label.

“Oh man…There are ones that we had an opportunity to and there are ones to go after like, I wanted so bad. Pitbull, he came by, he played me his demo and I told him this is cool…Over the years, I tried my best to sign Dead Prez, I have gotten into the preview of what their next album would sound like and three of the cuts were produced by Kanye. When I say I wanted to cause I was engaged.”

“Towards later years before I left Shady, J. Cole came across the desk, Kendrick Lamar but that’s more of a Paul story and I believe Paul was the one who suggested Kendrick to Dr. Dre when Dre was looking for someone to write for his Detox album. I tried very hard to get Clipse and I did want them to split them up. Who else? Kid Cudi. He played me Day N Night and it was f**king awesome and we tried something to work but as soon as Kanye put his hands around…And I get it. I really thought he would be one that we could have been involved because when I was at Shady I was looking the ways as an AR how we gonna be involved with changing the time. We were smacked into that Kanye era.”

Theory: Another Kid Cud & Eminem song is coming

Back in July 10, 2020, Kid Cudi dropped “The Adventures Of Moon Man & Slim Shady,” featuring Eminem, produced by J Gramm, Eminem and Dot Da Genius.

Kid Cudi hinted at a possible collaboration two months prior to the song’s release, via Twitter, but it turned out that Eminem only learned about the tweet later on an episode of Young Money Radio with Lil Wayne.

The song was announced by Cudi’s daughter, Vada, in an Instagram post on July 8, 2020.

After the release of the song, a fan asked Cleveland-born hip-hop artist if there are any other songs coming with Detroit legend. Here is what he replied:

Since then, we are waiting for another adventure of Moon Man and Slim Shady and maybe, just maybe the time has come? Cole Bennett, who directed Eminem’s “Godzilla” video, posted a picture with Kid Cudi with the caption: “A dream. Planning something special.” with 💡 Electric Light Bulb emoji in the end.

On the same day, when Eminem retweeted Nitty Gateway’s post, he used the same 💡 Electric Light Bulb emoji.

Was Eminem hinting on something else aside from his NFT releases? Is Cole Bennett going to direct “The Adventures Of Moon Man & Slim Shady” video? Or is there new Kid Cudi and Eminem song coming? Time will tell!

BREAKING: 50 Cent & Kid Cudi team up for new TV show

It looks like 50 Cent and Kid Cudi are teaming up for a new TV series. Yesterday, Kid Cudi sent out a tweet to his fans to give them update on the big things that have been planned with Fifty. The Cleveland multi-talented rapper does not gave much info away but he seemed genuinely excited to share the news.

“Had a call with 50 Cent last week about cooking up a show together. Big things happening! I will keep you posted. 50 Cent is one of my favorite emcees and he is also a really great guy with a good heart.” said Cudi in his tweet.

50 Cent’s knack for creating addictive series over the years has clearly paid off. After “Power” TV series blew up and inspired highly-anticipated spin-offs for the STARZ Network, Fiddy moved on to create another TV series for ABC, titled “For Life.”

Back in September 2020, the G-Unit front-man also revealed that he is creating two new series for STARZ which will focus on the 12-year relationship he had with his blood enemy, The Game.

Kid Cudi talks how the collaboration with Eminem came together

In a new interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music’s Beats 1, Kid Cudi talked his upcoming album Man on the Moon III, and how he wanted “to be respected as an emcee.” You also talked about how a collaboration with Eminem on “The Adventure of the Moon Man and Slim Shady” happened:

“Yo, who do I f**ing get? Who do I f**ing spar with? Who do I go bar-for-bar with? Eminem! I tweeted at him. It was not even in the DMs. Just my timeline. It was public. I was like, ‘Yo Rap God, help!’ And we are really close with Eminem’s manager Paul Rosenberg and he was able to connect us and we were able to get it done.”

“I’m like waiting, I’m waiting. And I’m like, “Oh s**t. They are asking me questions. They do not say he is going to do it just yet. They are just asking me questions. And I am like, so this means he is going to do it. Right? Because they are asking me questions. And literally it was like every day I was like, ‘Is today going to be the day? Is today going to be the day?’ And, I got it, and I was like, ‘Holy s**.'”

“It was something for me to get the validation from Eminem by doing that record. Him doing that record let me know, like he was telling me like, ‘Yo, I f**k with you as an artist fully, even your bars are dope.'” says Kid Cudi
