Before he made his way to the ring at TNA Bound For Glory in Detroit, Michigan, a video package aired for Joe Hendry with the musical track being inspired by Eminem’s magnum opus single, “Lose Yourself.”
Hendry then stood at the top of the ramp in overalls and a Jason mask, revving a chainsaw. The persona was a tribute to Eminem’s Slim Shady persona from late ’90s and early ’00s.
Hendry previously invited Eminem to attend the event but it seems Marshall Mathers didn’t receive the invitation. Hendry challenged Nic Nemeth for the TNA World Title in the co-main event of TNA Bound For Glory. Watch the video below.
Former President of the United States Barack Obama lost himself in the music, the moment on Tuesday night (October 22, 2024) at Kamala Harris and Tim Walz’s Detroit rally ahead of the 2024 presidential election next month. The Detroit icon took the stage to introduce Obama at the event.
“I’m here tonight for couple of important reasons. As most of you know, the city of Detroit and a whole state of Michigan mean a lot to me. And going into this election, the spotlight is on us more than ever and I think it’s important to use your voice so I’m encouraging everybody to get out vote, please.” said Eminem.
Then he continued: “I also think, the people should not be afraid express their opinions and I don’t think anyone once in America where people are worried about retribution of what people would do if you make your opinion known. I think Vice President Harris support the future of this country where these freedoms and many others will be protected and upheld. And here to tell you much more about that, president Barack Obama.”
From there, Barack Obama continued: “I have done a lot of rallies, so I don’t usually get nervous but I was feeling some kind of way following Eminem and I noticed my palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy, vomit on my sweater already, mom’s spaghetti. I’m nervous but on the surface I look calm and ready to drop bombs! I thought Eminem was going to perform and I was going to jump up. Love me some Eminem!” You can watch the video below:
One of the hottest Detroit rappers, 42 Dugg may understand why his fellow rapper Skilla Baby made the claim that people in Detroit don’t view Eminem as one of their greatest of all time, but he doesn’t agree with that judgement.
Earlier this month, Skilla Baby appeared on the Baby This is Keke Palmer podcast, where he made his claim about Slim Shady while discussing who is the best rapper from the Motor City: “Numbers wise, Eminem is the best Detroit rapper but the gag is nobody would say that in Detroit. Everybody had a turn being Detroit’s favorite rapper. Sada Baby had a turn, Tee Grizzley had a turn, Babyface Ray had a turn, Veeze is one of Detroit’s best rappers, Baby Smoove. Everybody had their turn being the best in the city. What we lack is consistency. Nobody has consistently been Detroit’s favorite rapper. Numbers wise, it’s Eminem but nobody in Detroit is playing Eminem right now and I was an Eminem fan as a kid. I’m a fan of Eminem but do we consider him our best rapper? I don’t think Detroit does.”
During speaking on The Breakfast Club with Charlamagne Tha God, 42 Dugg was asked about Skilla’s statement. While he said he was unaware that the statement had been made, he offered an explanation as to why younger hip-hop generation might feel that way: “That’s probably how they feel. The new kids don’t even know about him. How would they? You have to really be music person to go back… I know. That’s always my card when somebody get to bringing up somebody from somewhere else, I’m like, ‘We got Eminem.’ I feel like he the GOAT.” said 42 Dugg.
When asked if Eminem‘s music was simply not relatable to fans of street music, 42 Dugg went on to give Slim Shady his flowers as an important influence on his own music: “He made deep music. I go listen to ‘Toy Soliders’ or ‘Stan,’ those my favorite songs. So when it’s my turn to make real songs, I already damn near know how to channel it. Cuz I already know what I’m looking for: I’m looking for a ‘Stan’ type of song.” You can watch the clip below:
“Live From Detroit: The Concert at Michigan Central” executive produced by Eminem and Paul Rosenberg was an all-star celebration of Detroit music bringing Diana Ross, Jack White, Big Sean and a host of other top names to the restored Michigan Central train station as the historic site launches its grand reopening for a global audience. The concert was spearheaded by Ford Motor Co., which spent nearly $1 billion to renovate the site and unveiled the artist roster Monday morning after weeks of buildup.
Branded as “Live From Detroit: The Concert at Michigan Central,” the event was streamed live on Peacock, then will be aired Sunday on NBC as a prime-time special. The 90-minute, genre-spanning concert — whose lineup includes hip-hop duo Slum Village, gospel stars Kierra Sheard and the Clark Sisters, techno-house DJ Theo Parrish and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra — marks the biggest convergence of hometown star power on one Detroit stage in decades. The show also featured visiting artists such as Jelly Roll, Fantasia, Common and Melissa Etheridge. Presenters included Detroit Lions stars and veterans such as Barry Sanders, Jared Goff and Amon-Ra St. Brown, along with comedian Mike Epps, actress Sophia Bush and one and only Royce 5’9″ who appeared with J Dilla’s mother.
The concert was livestreamed at 8:30 p.m. Thursday on Peacock, the streaming service operated by NBC Universal, and will be repurposed for a one-hour NBC special airing nationally at 7 p.m. Sunday. Six weeks after the NFL Draft downtown, the Michigan Central concert gave Detroit another high-profile starring role amid the city’s ongoing renewal.
“We wanted to celebrate the reopening of Michigan Central Station in style and make it a night to remember for Detroiters and people watching around the world,” Bill Ford, executive chair of Ford, said in a statement Monday. “I am honored and grateful that so many of Detroit’s musical legends, sports heroes, artists and innovators are joining us to celebrate the city we all love and the bright future we are creating together.” The streaming and TV production was led by Jesse Collins Entertainment, a Los Angeles company that has overseen Super Bowl halftime shows, Emmy Awards, BET Honors and other events.
As it turns out, one of the surprise special guests was Eminem himself, joined by Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Denaun Porter, Jelly Roll, performing his latest single “Houdini,” “Sing For The Moment,” “Welcome 2 Detroit” and “Not Afraid.” You can watch the performance below:

Six weeks after the NFL Draft downtown, the Michigan Central concert is poised to give Detroit another high-profile starring role amid the city’s ongoing renewal. Details were revealed Monday by Ford and Michigan Central after weeks of growing buzz and intrigue about the free event, which will accommodate 15,000 people at Corktown’s Roosevelt Park in front of the restored train station. Tickets have already been distributed. The concert is a marquee moment for Ford as it unveils the resurrected Michigan Central following a six-year, $950 million rehabilitation of the 13-story depot and its surrounding 30-acre campus just west of downtown Detroit.

Homegrown hit rapper Big Sean, who kicked off April’s NFL Draft with a live set, figured prominently in Ford’s 2018 public festivities when the automaker bought the train station property. Those artists and the others announced Monday make up the most notable concentration of name-brand Detroit talent to share a bill in many years — likely going back to the 1960s and the Motortown Revues that assembled chart-topping Motown acts at venues such as the Fox Theatre.
If Eminem were to perform, it would be the rapper’s first hometown show in nearly a decade, not counting his onstage cameos with touring acts such as Ed Sheeran and 50 Cent. Eminem ‘s last headlining stand in Detroit was an August 2014 Comerica Park doubleheader with Rihanna. It appears besides producing the show, Eminem will perform at the main stage as today fans heard “Sing For The Moment” soundcheck rehearsal at the place. Slim Shady might also perform his latest hit single “Houdini,” as Denaun Porter suggested few days ago. You can watch the rehearsal video below:

Guess what is back? Michigan Central Station is finally back. It has been 36 years since the last train left the station, but next week, Ford Motor Co. will reopen the long-empty building to the public once again. When the station reopens, it’ll be the first time in a generation that visitors will be invited in to see the historic space, now reinvented for new uses.
As the Detroit newspapers report, hosted by Ford and Michigan Central, Michigan Central OPEN welcomes the public to share in this major milestone with an opening night concert outside the station featuring a lineup of legendary Detroit performers produced by Jesse Collins Entertainment, an Emmy-winning production company, that has played an integral role in producing many of television’s most memorable moments in music entertainment, including multiple Super Bowl Halftime Shows. Jesse Collins Entertainment’s Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay will executive produce the show. Emmy award-winning production companies Diversified Production Services and Killian + Company are also producing the special event. The outdoor concert will also be available via livestream.
“There’s no place like Detroit, and we couldn’t be more excited to showcase the city through its own incredible artists. We’re going to create an unforgettable welcome party for Michigan Central with this new chapter in Detroit history that celebrates the visions of these unique performers who are bound together by a shared love of their city.” said Executive Producer Jesse Collins, founder and CEO Jesse Collins Entertainment.
On June 6, festivities kick off with Live from Detroit: The Concert at Michigan Central, a 90-minute outdoor spectacular in front of The Station headlined by some of Detroit’s biggest stars. The standing room only show will feature short films, appearances by local leaders, and creators telling stories of innovation and culture from around the city and the region. Gates will open at 6 p.m., and the show will begin at 8:30 p.m.
Even though the list of performers has not been announced yet, Eminem is highly possible to be one of the musical acts to hold the convert at the event as he has just released new single “Houdini,” from upcoming The Death Of Slim Shady album. Fans’ prediction has been strengthened by Denaun Porter on Instagram. “Spited,” which is a rhyme scheme platform, posted a video of Eminem’s rhyme scheme on the second verse of “Houdini.” Under the comment section, Denaun commented: “Please do the rest of the song. I gotta learn this by Monday. Way easier to follow.” As you know, Mr. Porter is Eminem’s hypeman during concerts and live events. By “I gotta learn this by Monday” and “Way easier to follow” are somethings that a hypeman would say.
Eminem is gearing up for the release of his 12th solo studio album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), which will be the final chapter in his alter ego’s storyline. The catch is, like the title suggests, Slim Shady is dead. The teaser that announced the album was structured like an old procedural show, in which witnesses reflect on what went wrong. Since Em announced the album, we have seen no promo at all except today, when Em posted an obituary in the Detroit newspaper.
“Slim Shady made lasting impressions” read the Detroit Free Press headline. The piece treats Slim like a real person, despite the comically exaggerated photo of him wearing a hockey mask above the headline. It does, however, address some of the satirical elements that Eminem has played with whenever he used the Shady moniker. “[His] audience was soon exposed to the extreme darkness of the muse/rapper. As he led millions of music fans down a road glorified a demonstrably nihilistic worldview.”
The obituary notes that Slim Shady’s path was always going to come to a tragic end. “His complex and tortured existence has come to a close. And the legacy he leaves behind is no closer to resolution than the manner in which the character departed this world. May he truly find the peace in an afterlife that he could not find on Earth.”
During a 1999 interview with Video Music Box, the Detroit legend revealed that Slim Shady allowed him to free up his creative impulses without having to worry about whether they went too far. “Everybody’s got two sides to them. Slim Shady’s just an angry side for me to vent. Eminem is just me. When I sit down with a pen, sometimes I write Eminem rhymes, sometimes I write Slim Shady rhymes. It depends on what type of mood I’m in that day.” Two and a half decades later, it seems like Em is finally ready to let go of the Slim Shady safety net. Check out the newspaper below:

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has embarked on a global tour in celebration of the 20th Anniversary of his game-changing debut album, Get Rich or Die Tryin’.

On September 17, 2023, Eminem joined 50 Cent on stage at his The Final Lap Tour at the Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan (45 miles away from Detroit).
Em and Fif performed “Patiently Waiting” from Get Rich Or Die Tyrin’ and “Crack a Bottle,” from Relapse album.
Before departing the stage, Eminem showed love to 50 Cent while saying a few words to the Detroit audience. “Detroit! Don’t f–king act like you didn’t know I was gonna be here. Detroit! make some noise for one of the best friends that I’ve ever known, 50 Cent. And also, make some noise for Hip Hop’s 50th birthday, y’all. It’s still hip-hop’s 50th birthday! Detroit, I love y’all, man!”
Fif later shared a video of the moment on Instagram with the caption: “Bro when I do anything with EM people just go crazy they know he really my boy. I love him till death!”
Yesterday, 50 Cent sat down with Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest on LIVE with Kelly and Mark where he talked about Eminem joining him on stage.
“Eminem has just came out with me in Detroit. It’s hard to get him to go anywhere. That’s why I was so excited when he came out. He’s always in Detroit. He is like one of my best friends. I can’t pick a moment that he wasn’t in my corner or didn’t have positive intentions for me.” said 50 Cent.
50 Cent has just brought out Eminem at his The Final Lap Tour at the Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan (45 miles away from Detroit).
Crowd went absolutely nuts as the Detroit legend and New York icon performed “Patiently Waiting” and “Crack A Bottle” on the stage together.
“Detroit! Don’t f–ing act like you didn’t know I was going to be here,” said Em, dressed in a hoodie with a 50 Cent shirt underneath it.
“Patiently Waiting” is the first of two Eminem collaborations on Fif’s debut album Get Rich Or Die Tryin’, he also appears on “Don’t Push Me.” Despite not being released as a single, this record still managed to reach No. 56 on the US Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. On January 19, 2023, “Patiently Waiting” was certified platinum by the RIAA.
“Crack A Bottle” is the first single from Eminem’s sixth studio album Relapse, this song went on to win the Grammy Award for Best Performance by a Duo or Group in 2010.
The song initially gained attention in December 2008, when an unfinished version of the song was initially leaked under the name “Number One” on the mixtape 4th Quarter Pressure Part 2, while a final working version was leaked on January 6, 2009. It features Eminem performing Dre’s verse and an unused Em verse in place of 50 Cent’s.
On February 12, 2009, the song broke the first week digital sales record with 418,000 downloads, topping the previous record held by T.I.’s “Live Your Life”.
This song’s appearance in the Billboard Hot 100 marked Eminem’s first appearance on the chart as lead vocalist in two years. His previous entry was “You Don’t Know” which spent six weeks on the Hot 100 in December 2006 and January 2007.
It was Eminem’s second onstage cameo in recent months, following his surprise link-up with Ed Sheeran at Ford Field in July. You can watch 50 Cent and Eminem killing Pine Knob Music Theatre stage together below:
Stephen King, the American author of horror, supernatural fiction, suspense, crime, science-fiction, and fantasy novels, has recently reacted to Eminem’s performance with Ed Sheeran in Detroit this weekend.
The audience at Ed Sheeran’s concert in Detroit on Saturday lost themselves in the music when the Motor City legend showed up for a surprise performance.
In videos posted to Ed Sheeran’s Instagram page on Sunday, the singer keeps the surprise close to the chest by telling his audience he wanted to perform a “cover” of an Eminem song. As Sheeran strums his acoustic guitar while singing his rendition of the iconic opening lines of Eminem’s “Lose Yourself,” Slim Shady is seen stepping on the stage to join in on the verse as the crowd cheered.
“Detroit. What a moment,” Sheeran wrote in the caption of his post. Sheeran is also seen telling the crowd that Eminem was only going to come on and do one song. “And I said, ‘you can’t come on in Detroit and do just one song.’ Do you want another song?” The duo then performed Eminem’s 2000 hit song “Stan,” which originally features Dido, from The Marshall Mathers LP album.
One of the fans shared the video of the performance on Twitter with the caption: “And 21 years after “8 Mile,” Eminem and “Lose Yourself” still bring down the house.” On which, Stephen King replied: “F–king great.”
Stephen King also know as “King of Horror,” whose books have sold 400 million copies worldwide, has Eminem mentioned in one of his thriller novels, titled The Institute.
On the 435th page of the book, there is a conversation between two characters, where one of them mentions Eminem.
– You look remarkably stupid with your hat on that way, Mr. Jamieson.
– What can I say, I’m an Eminem fan, now shut up.
