Akon says he has 4 other songs with Eminem in vault, talks working with Dr. Dre on “DETOX” album

Akon has recently sat down with Bootleg Kev on his podcast.

The two talked about many topics, including working with Eminem on one of the biggest hits of ’00s, “Smack That,” and Dr. Dre‘s mysterious DETOX album.

“It’s interesting because every record that I put out, I actually produced, expect ‘Smack That.’ Eminem produced that record. Isn’t that crazy? He always have this small little sounds in the beat.” said Akon.

Then he continues: “When I went to visit Em in Detroit, he was like ‘which you wanna do?,’ I said ‘Em, I wanna do whatever you wanna do. I want to come into your world.’ He said ‘alright, I got some beats.’ I said ‘play me some tracks.’ He gave me phot of 30 tracks on it. And out of 30, I picked 5. And I recorded all 5 and the one that stood out was ‘Smack That.’ When he heard my concept t it, he said ‘yo, I’m jumping on this one.’ And I was like ‘if he jumps on this one this will be a single.’ I literally have all those other records. All those records are gonna drop in future.”

“I’ve done two records for Detox and they both came out. One was ‘Kush.’ And the other one was Dre and Snoop and I was in the chorus as well. Dre is such a perfectionist. I think he’s too perfect for himself. There was lots of fear to not being number one. I’m not speaking for him and I could be completely wrong but from outside looking in it felt like he put too much on himself to succeed and be successful. I personally believe he don’t need it. He has nothing to prove anybody. To me he’s the greatest producer out of the west coast and influencer when it comes to hip-hop and gangster music. No matter what he would have dropped. Everybody would have thirsted it up.” said Akon.

50 Cent & Dr. Dre’s song from “Detox” album surfaces online

50 Cent’s “Psycho” song from Dr. Dre’s mythical “Detox” album has been fully surfaced online, featuring Ester Dean.

50 Cent has previously claimed that the single was Dr. Dre’s next single for “Detox” album and was threatening to leak it because he felt like the label was not doing enough for him. Dr. Dre and 50 eventually made up, and this single ended up being scrapped.

Dr. Dre ended up re-using the song’s beat for a Chrysler commercial back in 2011.

Now the song is fully available on YouTube, but there is no Dr. Dre verse in it. There were also reports back in 2014 that the song would be included in another mythical album, “Street King Immortal,” by 50 Cent.

Snoop Dogg leaks what appears to be a tracklist of Dr. Dre’s DETOX album

A third solo record (not counting Compton) from Dr. Dre would have been just another laurel in his heavily feathered cap. Instead, the legendary producer embarked on creating a mythical Detox album, which he often called his “final project.”

During the last decade, Dre has worked on tracks with more than two dozen rappers, producers and vocalists, from Aftermath heavyweights like Eminem, Busta Rhymes, 50 Cent and Kendrick Lamar, to Snoop Dogg, T.I., Rick Ross, Lil Wayne and Kanye West – to name a few.

Most recently, Aftermath and Interscope Records have released a six song EP from Dr. Dre, all featured in the latest update of Grand Theft Auto: The Contract video game. The project features “Falling Up” with Thurz and Cocoa Sarai,” a solo track “Black Privilege,” “Gospel,” featuring Eminem. “Diamond Mind” with Nipsey Hussle and Ty Dolla $ign,” “ETA” with Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, and Anderson .Paak,” and “The Scenic Route,” featuring Rick Ross and Anderson .Paak.

It appears those GTA tracks were intended to be on DETOX album as Snoop Dogg has leaked a picture of the original tracklist of the album which are hard to decrypt but some of them are visible.

A reddit named decclz was able to read some of the titles of the songs. Check them out below:

Watch: Dr. Dre’s “Detox” scene from GTA Online: The Contract

On the Grand Theft Auto’s expansion fans were introduced to the chance to discover new Dr. Dre tracks while working to find a lost phone full of unreleased music in the game.

In one of the scenes, Lamar accidently finds out Franklin’s new client is Dr. Dre: “Client? What client? What the F**K! Dre lost his phone? That man is physician! You know how important that is, man? I bet it’s all kind of s**t in that phone. I wonder what’s in that phone?!”

“Dude has been making beats for years! A LEGEND! Man, look, that mythical lost album (DETOX) up in that motherf**ka!”

DJ Whoo Kid shares Dr. Dre’s “Detox” song “Back Again,” featuring Akon

Back in April, 2020, DJ Whoo Kid went live on Instagram with Akon and played one of Dr. Dre’s remixed songs from vaulted Detox album.

The track is titled “Back Again” and features Akon. The original version of the song was recorded and unofficially released in 2005 and it features rapper Kai. This would have marked second collaboration between Dre and Akon since dropping “Kush,” back in 2010, which also features Snoop Dogg.

“That song was when we were all waiting for that Detox album” says Akon at the end of the video.

The beat of the song is definitely produced by Dr. Dre himself. You can bump it below!

LISTEN: Dr. Dre’s “Get It” song from “DETOX” album leaks online

“Get It,” a Dr. Dre track, produce by Jake One, which has surfaced online today, might be from DETOX album, as a journalist named Chad Kiser said. The album, which was expected to be dropped back 2010 but Dre decided to keep the project in the vault.

The song “Get It” might sound familiar for the fans as it was pulled from 50 Cent’s freestyle “50 For President,” which Fiddy released back in 2008.  On the track, Dr. Dre delivers aggressive bars as fans think the lyrics were written by 50 Cent.

Check out first few bars from the song and bump the track below:

“I see ni**as lie to they self, they probably think they lying to me…
You incapable of becoming what you trying to be…
I heard it all, I’ma do this, I’ma do that…
I’ma cop a Phantom and show up with a new six-pack…
I’ma f**k that ni**a b**ch, I’ma get me a chain…
I’ma rap and blow the roof off this Hip Hop game
I’ma slang a couple beats, get rich like you…
Dre ain’t the only ni**a with tracks, I got heat, too…
S**t might happen if you f**kin’ work as much as you talk…
Get some money and you blow it because you trying to floss…
You’re lifestyle don’t support that you about to fall off…”
