Lil Wayne includes Eminem in his top 5 rappers of all time

In a new interview with Cam Heyward for his podcast Not Just Football, Lil Wayne was asked who are the Top 5 rappers of all time and he did not hesitate to put Drake up there with some notable Hip-Hop heavyweights, not mentioning Kendrick Lamar.

“My Top 5 rappers of all time, Lil Wayne, Weezy Babu, Tunechi…Nah, I’m f–king s–ting. My top 5 are JAY-Z, Missy Elliott, Eminem, ummm… The Notorious B.I.G. — oh, and this is no specific order right here — and Drizzy.” said the New Orleans native.

In an August interview with Billboard last year to celebrate the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, Lil Wayne said his favorite rappers were Missy, Hov, Biggie, Goodie Mob, and UGK. He shared that same list on What’s Wright? with Nick Wright in 2022. But I guess there is a difference between “Top 5 rappers of all time” and his “Top 5 favorite rappers.”

Elsewhere in the interview with Heyward, Wayne provided an update on his next major studio album, Tha Carter VI. “Carter VI when? I don’t remember that, actually. It’s soon, though, because it’s what’s next from me. It’s coming out next, actually. I’m not sure of the actual date but it is my next project.” Later on he said the record is complete and he’s editing it down now. “It’s been done,” Lil Wayne said. You can watch the video below:

Eminem announces new single with Big Sean & BabyTron

Eminem is teaming with Detroit’s own Big Sean and BabyTron, on his new single “Tobey,” Slim Shady announced on social media on about an hour ago.

The announcement came with a black-and-white teaser that sees Eminem, clad in a hockey mask and sporting a chainsaw, getting into some bloody business as Sean and BabyTron look on. As the camera pulls back, an outline of a body is revealed, and Sean starts rapping, “Tobey Maguire got bit by a spider but see, me? It was a GOAT.” The single is set to arrive Tuesday, and the Cole Bennett-directed music video will be released July 5.

The single will act as the second single from Eminem’s new album, “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)” which is due out this summer. First single “Houdini,” which was released May 31, debuted at No. 2 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and is No. 1 on Billboard 200 Global.

Eminem and Big Sean have collaborated before; Big Sean was on Eminem’s “Detroit vs. Everybody” posse cut in 2014, and Eminem appeared on Sean’s track “No Favors” from his 2017 album “I Decided.” Eminem also appeared on Big Sean’s track “Friday Night Cypher” from 2020’s “Detroit 2.” Both rappers performed at the Michigan Central Station reopening concert earlier this month.

BabyTron, the 24-year-old Ypsilanti born rapper, released his latest mixtape “Case Dismissed” in February. In 2022, XXL magazine called him “Michigan’s hottest new rap prospect” when naming him to the magazine’s annual Freshman 10 class, and he told The Detroit News in 2023, “I want to be Michael Jackson-big.” You can watch the announcement of new single below:

LL Cool J addresses the Eminem feature getting leaked

It has been a decade since the iconic rapper LL Cool J dropped his last full-length project, titled “Authentic” back in 2013, and for the past few years, the Bay Shore, New York-born legend has been teasing the release of a new material and it looks like the album is finally around the corner.

Laster year, LL vented his frustrations on Twitter, writing that his next project is not “worthy of being released.” As it turns out, it was a marketing trick. In the deleted tweets, Cool J said he was “really trying” to figure it out but he’s “not feeling like this album is worthy of being released.” He did leave one tweet up where he simply states he’s “not dropping it.” But later he posted a video on Instagram, explaining how he trick the hip-hop world: “Everybody’s been asking me about the new record and my decision. And, I was considering putting this record out because IT’S TOO F–KING GOOD! Q-Tip, you are genius baby. Yo, that’s my favorite album I ever made. I can’t wat for you all to hear this. Date and tracklist coming soon!”

Next month, during an interview with E! News, LL spoke highly about his new album: “I know all the tricks. I got this covered. I think honestly and sincerely that Q-Tip as a producer is unbelievable and what he did on this record for me, I think is amazing. So the world will decide. The album, I think, is really, really special. I think it’s something it’s modern without chasing. It’s a whole new thing. I can’t wait for the people to see it.”

Eminem has named LL Cool J as his biggest influence numerous times. The two have recently performed at the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame ceremony. LL and Slim Shady also have a song in vault that has never seen the light of the day. In 2014, LL spoke highly about the track: “Me and Em, we have a song, he just recently let me listen to his verse and it is just crazy, he is chainsaw and s**t. It is good! I think people will be pleasantly surprised when they hear me and him rapping together. It is the first time we did something together and shout out to Em and Rosenberg and to his whole crew, staff, everybody… This is a record that I think people gonna be excited… What I did with Em is super HOT!”

In May, 2023, 93.5 KDay radio scheduled an interview on their official YouTube channel but it was not aired for some reasons. In the description of the video, we read that Eminem is featured on LL’s upcoming album. Next month the snippet of Eminem and LL Cool J song titled “Murdergram Deux” has surfaced online and now it fully leaked.

In a recent interview, LL Cool J addressed the leakers: “That’s terrible man, it’s so bad. It’s not AI but it’s not official. It’s not the right version. They just be over the top and people just be dabbling and… I don’t even know why even do that. It’s like, calm down man. They all just walking on in kitchen, touching the rolls before before the s–t is done and you know  just all up in the pots. Keep the food ain’t ready. You know how your grandmother slap your hand and s–t when you trying to put your hands in the pots early? That’s how I feel about this. Just cut that s–t. But it is what it is, it’s not AI, it’s a real joint.” You can watch it below:

Westside Boogie performs “Silent Ride” & “Not Like Us” with Kendrick Lamar

In his latest show called “The Pop Out,” Kendrick Lamar did something that culture will forever be grateful. Kendrick reunited Black Hippy at Kia Forum in Los Angeles and this moment was definitely for the core TDE fans. He reunited his rap supergroup that formed in 2008 and consisted of ScHoolboy Q, Ab-Soul and Jay Rock. It was also great moment for Shady/Aftermath as Kendrick invited Westside Boogie to sing “Not Like Us” with him.

Kendrick Lamar also brought out the one and only Dr. Dre. As if the show hadn’t packed enough punch the Kia Forum almost lost its top as Dr. Dre appeared next to Kendrick and the recognizable cords of “Still D.R.E.” grabbed the attention of the audience. The rap legend knew exactly what the people wanted and then went into “California Love”. But before he could leave the stage Kendrick asked him a favor. Dre whisper “psssss….I see dead people,” an intro to “Not Like Us” and the room exploded.

Kendrick performed “Not Like Us” five times! You heard it right, FIVE TIMES and during one of the performances, he called our boy Westside Boogie to perform the song shoulder to shoulder. “Bro, I’m finna cry.” tweeted Boogie on which Eminem’s manager Paul Rosenberg replied “GO BOOGIE!”

Right before that, Westside Boogie performed “Silent Ride” from his 2019 Shady Records debut album Everythings For Sale.

Kendrick Lamar brings out Dr. Dre for “Still DRE,” “California Love” & “Not Like Us”

Kendrick Lamar truly delivered the performance of a lifetime.

Kendrick Lamar is coming off of a feud with Drake, and as you can imagine, fans around the world are hyped. Overall, Kendrick gave us some truly incredible diss tracks. Two of the best to come from the beef are “Euphoria” and “Not Like Us.” Tonight, K. Dot performed them both. He started his show with “Euphoria” and it was absolutely phenomenal performance. However, he eventually blew the roof of KIA Forum with his first-ever performance of “Not Like Us.” Of course, in the eyes of many, this is the song of the summer. Not to mention, Dr. Dre was the one to intro the song.

Fans had been wanting this ever since Kendrick’s “Pop Out” show had been announced a couple of weeks ago. Below, you can see the moment that Kendrick Lamar decided to perform the track. It was a moment that fans are going to remember forever, and many couldn’t believe they got to witness it live. However, Kendrick truly unloaded the clip tonight. In fact, he even performed “6:16 In LA,” which is a song fans didn’t really expect him to do.

This has been an incredible night of music. Earlier in the show, we got some music from some of the West Coast’s best artists. Furthermore, some bigger acts like Roddy Ricch, YG, and Tyler, the Creator got to come up on stage, even our man Westside Boogie was there! Overall, it was a great moment, and fans were treated to nothing but bangers. If you are a hip-hop fan, then you had to have loved every moment of this. Hopefully some day, Kendrick decides to do it all over again.

Alchemist shows love to Eminem

For Episode 02 of ‘Conversations’, Cardo Got Wings sat down with iconic producers The Alchemist. Coinciding with the release of Lucid Monday Magazine’s Issue 07, this episode dives into their creative processes, perspectives on the evolving music industry, and a look into the minds behind some of the most influential music today.

At one point during the conversation, the two briefly talked about Eminem.

Alchemist: I was lucky to tour with Eminem all the time and deejaying for him in so many countries. We be chilling man. He’s the coolest dude ever man.
Cardo: He’s the funniest motherf–ker I know. That’s who I would like to work with man, it’s Em. He’s a legend in my hood.
Alchemist: Man, if you think we are working hard, I never seen anybody work like this.
Cardo: Does he have a flip phone for real?
Alchemist: Yes…He’s on a different level of stratosphere. In the minute I think I’m working hard, If I go out there and see him, I’m like ‘alright, I gotta do better. I got to work harder.
Cardo: Does he still make beats?
Alchemist: Everything. He’s an Enigma. He’s Eminem.
Cardo: Once I heard him doing Renegade on Blueprint, I was like ‘Em is really nasty.’
Alchemist: Unbelievable. And he’s on it everyday. Touring with him I got to have a lot off days in other countries so I just hit record stores and come home.

Alchemist has recently denied putting production credits on Eminem’s new single “Houdini,” from his upcoming 12th solo studio album, The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grace). For some reason, fans believed he’s was the man behind the keyboards but the track was produced by Eminem himself.

DJ Akademiks begs Megan Thee Stallion not to respond Eminem

During his recent livestream, DJ Akademiks talked about Eminem’s Megan Thee Stallion lines on Slim Shady’s new single “Houdini,” from his upcoming 12th solo studio album, Th Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grace).

In the song, Eminem raps: “If I was to ask for Megan Thee Stallion if she would collab with me / Would I really have a shot at a feat? (Ha!) / I don’t know, but I’m glad to be back, like Abra-abracadabra..” Em says that he would be unlikely to get a feature from Megan, while referencing her shooting incident with Tory Lanez, using a double entendre for “shot at her feet” and “shot at a feat”— an abbreviation of “feature.”

During the livestream, Akademiks said: “This is kind of how I always felt about, even when Drake said it and other people have made mention to it, if you don’t believe Megan got shot, I think it’s a joke but if you do believe Meg got shot, for Eminem or Drake, to make a line about it, is f–ked up. Now, if you don’t believe she got shot, it’s like ‘I don’t believe you, I’m just rapping about something that you lied about or you were not necessary ruthful. It’s not necessary a diss.” said Akademiks.

Then he continued: “By the way, Meg, let me tell you this. Eminem is not Nicki Minaj. Do not respond back. If anything, you could comment on this in an interview but do not rap back. Please do not rap back. Please, please, please do not rap back. You would be more sympathized if you in an interview saying ‘yeah, I was going through a lot turmoil and pain. I was crying every night and here comes this white man wo don’t really rap. He just start rapping about getting shot in the foot as a joke.’ That will work more than you trying to rap back at Em. Because if you rap back at Em, it’s all fair game and we all know what Em is down for. Em is a ni–a who had bunch of classic moments. Classic man. You gotta realize this guys is the guy! This ni–a is the GOAT. Eminem will always be a legend. That ni–a introduced Stan as a f–king noun in hip-hop. Shout out to Em.” You can watch the livestream below:

DJ Quik says Eminem is the best rapper alive

Legendary producer and rapper DJ Quik has recently put up a story on his Instagram, declaring Eminem as the best rapper alive: “Yo, Eminem is best rapper alive, he’s always an Event when he shows up.”

Eminem and DJ Quik has never collaborated before but Compton icon of G-funk style of West Coast hip-hop did a song with Dr. Dre back in 2001. “Put It On Me” from the soundtracks of Training Day, was released on September 11, 2001. It was produced by Scott Storch, Dr. Dre, DJ Quik and also features Mimi. The song was later included in DJ Quik’s 2002 sixth solo studio album, Under The Influence. The album debuted at #27 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, with 41,000 sold in its first-week.

DJ Quik has also recently attended Dr. Dre’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony. Earlier this year, Dr. Dre received the 2,775th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in recording category. Quik posed for pictures with Dre, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Eminem, Kurupt, Big Boy and more. Check the video of the ceremony below:

Nicki Minaj puts Eminem in her Top 3

In her latest Stationhead stream, Nicki Minaj revealed that Eminem in in her top 3 rappers of all time and called him and herself the greatest lyricists alive.

“Eminem is in my Top 3. I have to be honest. Because, people who rap fast and you can clearly hear what they are saying and in addition to that it is a motherf–king punchline or double entendre that you now have to go back and listen again to understand both ways that he said it while saying it one way…The consistency  of knowing his fanbase, the consistency of making a hit record…” said Nicki Minaj.

Then she continued: “Eminem and I are the two of the greatest lyricists of all time that are alive, not that I’m putting myself on Eminem’s level because Eminem was in the generation before me and just like Lil Wayne, I would never, ever put myself in the same sentence as them when I know that I was sitting home listening to them, being inspired and creating my own sound.” You can watch the interview after the end of the article.

Few months ago, on the same platform, Nicki gave Eminem a shout out and invited him to perform at her Detroit show but it did not happen: “You know what I was thinking guys? One of the things I wanted to say before I play a couple of my favorite songs, you know who I thought about too? Eminem. I listen to him on ‘Majesty’ with Labrinth, last night and I was like ‘oh, what the f–k!’ Eminem gonna have to come out the house for Pink Friday 2 Tour, I ain’t even going home. I’m going to that.” – said Nicki Minaj.

She continued: “Every bar I spit on ‘Majesty’ was so confident but for Eminem to bring it back to the concept of the song being called Majesty and said, instead of calling himself the king, the n-gga said the ‘queen and her husband, one thing you never wanna be is our subject’ and then I come back on the song […] That s–t is so f–king hard.”

Fredwreck responds Damizza who suggested Eminem to do interview to get #1 hit

Few weeks ago, Eminem released “Houdini,” the first single from his upcoming 12th solo studio album, The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grace). The song debuted at the top of the UK singles chart, with 104,800 chart units sold. It was Eminem’s eleventh number one on the chart, his first since “Godzilla” with Juice Wrld in 2020, and his first without a feature since “Like Toy Soldiers” in 2005. This was Eminem’s best first-week performance since “Without Me” in 2002. It topped the chart for a second week, becoming his first song in the nation to hold this position for more than one week.

The song also debuted at the top of Billboard Global 200 charts but opened at number two on the US Billboard Hot 100 with 48.8 million streams and 49,000 copies sold. It became his 23rd top ten song in his native country and his highest charting single since “The Monster” a decade earlier. “Houdini” also entered the Canadian and Australian Hot 100 charts at number one.

Radio executive, record producer, artist and author Damizza, who was named as one of the five most powerful people in Hip-Hop in 1999, thought Eminem deserved number one spot on US charts too so he recorded a video of himself, suggesting Em to do big interviews and podcast if he wants to top US charts: “Let me just say this directly. Em, do the Brown Bag Morning show. Do Big Boy. Do Hot 97. Do a couple of the biggest podcasts and next week you’ll be number one.

Under the comment section, Aftermath producer FredWreck, who has previously worked with Eminem on several occasion, replied: “Eminem doesn’t do it to be #1 on any charts. He does it for the art and for rap. That’s the difference between a legacy artist and the click fame seeker artists.” On which, Damizza responded: “Believe or not. Exactly my point.”

Eminem’s “Houdini” video gets massive love from Adam West family

Eminem’s latest music video for the single “Houdini” from The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grace) album is out, and among the millions viewing the banger is the family of the OG Batman Adam West, who loved the Detroit legend’s salute to his work. In the music video, Eminem is back in the ol’ Robin outfit he was wearing back in 2002 when “Without Me” from The Eminem Show album rocketed to No. 1 on the charts.

In a recent conversation with TMZ, Nina Tooley, West’s daughter, said her dad would have loved the video, which in the family’s opinion spoke to the enduring brilliance of the TV show and her father’s version of the Caped Crusader. Nina said while she was watching Eminem’s new video, she could hear her dad’s distinct chuckle when Slim Shady was trying to scale a building with the Bat Rope, just like Adam West and costar Burt Ward did in the series.

Directed by long-running collaborator Rich Lee (“Not Afraid,” “The Monster,” “Venom,” etc.), the innovative “Houdini” video freely calls back to classic Eminem videos such as Joseph Khan’s “Without Me” and Phillip Atwell’s “Real Slim Shady”.  “Houdini” is packed with cameos including Dr. Dre,  Pete Davidson, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Jimmy Iovine, Grip, Westside Boogie, Denaun Porter, Royce 5’ 9”, Paul Rosenberg, The Alchemist, EZ Mil, Ryan Keely, Samantha Mack, and comedian Shane Gillis. The generative AI used in the video was created by Metaphysic, with Jo Plaete and Chris Ume supervising production.

Rich Lee speaks on the video more by mentioning “What if Shady from the 2000s got teleported into the modern day and we got his take on what the world has become…and what if “Rap Boy” was the only person who could stop him? But, 20+ years have passed so there’s a little less stamina and some bad knees. The crazy combination of new tech that made this music video possible. We are in such an awesome time now for filmmaking, and we were able to leverage so much of the great tech we have at hand.”
