“Heads of State” trailer features Eminem & Dr. Dre shout out

The newly released trailer for Heads of State—an action-comedy starring John Cena and Idris Elba—has generated buzz not only for its high-octane sequences and witty banter but also for its clever use of Dr. Dre’s track “What’s the Difference,” featuring Eminem and Xzibit.

In Heads of State, John Cena portrays U.S. President Will Derringer, while Idris Elba takes on the role of U.K. Prime Minister Sam Clarke. The film centers on their tumultuous relationship, which is put to the test when a joint diplomatic mission turns into a fight for survival against a formidable adversary. As their security teams falter, the two leaders must rely on each other to navigate the perilous situation.

The trailer features a notable exchange where Cena’s character quips, “It’s like I’m Dr. Dre and you’re Eminem,” to which Elba’s character retorts, “I’m Eminem?!” This dialogue segues into the inclusion “What’s the Difference”. The song’s themes of rivalry and partnership mirror the film’s central dynamic between the two leaders.

Directed by Ilya Naishuller, known for Nobody, and written by Harrison Query, Josh Appelbaum, and André Nemec, Heads of State boasts a talented ensemble cast. Joining Cena and Elba are Priyanka Chopra Jonas as MI6 agent Noel Bisset, Jack Quaid, Paddy Considine, Stephen Root, Sarah Niles, and Carla Gugino. Both Cena and Elba also serve as producers on the film.
