New Interview: Did Eminem Really Co-Sign Datin?

Posted on March 22, 2026 By Remy Gelenidze

In a recent interview with Panda CHOP, Christian rapper Datin revisited a long-standing rumor regarding a potential nod of approval from Eminem. Datin, who cut his teeth in the underground battle rap scene alongside Nems and the FYL movement, suggested that the Detroit legend may have discovered his track “Hallelujah All Day” several years ago. While the claim adds a layer of prestige to Datin’s career, the details surrounding how this “co-sign” actually reached him remain shrouded in industry hearsay.

The rapper expressed his shock at the possibility, noting that it answered a career-long uncertainty. Datin stated, “I could not believe it because if there’s one question that was never answered its ‘has Marshall ever heard me rap?’ I’ve had multiple meetings at the label. Paul Rosenberg has heard me. I’m co-signed by his best friend. He found that Christian rap song of me.” Despite these high-level connections, the fact that Datin never heard it directly from the source leaves room for skepticism about the validity of the interaction.

Addressing the common myth that Slim Shady is a tech-averse recluse, Datin challenged the idea that Eminem is disconnected from the modern landscape. “First of all, Eminem not having a phone is a lie,” Datin claimed. “So, what I heard from people that know Em, is that he’s plugged into everything. He stays online. He got social media that nobody’s handling it. He’s listening to everything and everybody. My man told me, all Eminem does is listen to hip-hop all day and watch TV shows.”

However, the legitimacy of the story seems to hinge entirely on the word of a middleman: R-Mean. Datin pointed to the rapper’s industry connections as the bridge between him and Shady Records. “R-Mean has some sort of power behind the scenes. He got ties to a lot of important people. That’s why he be getting this big features. He’s tied to a lot of people and I know he was fooling with Em for a while,” Datin explained. While R-Mean certainly possesses the network to reach such heights, it is not uncommon in the rap world for intermediaries to embellish stories to maintain their status as “gatekeepers.”

There is a distinct possibility that this co-sign was more of a polite acknowledgment—or perhaps a total fabrication—relayed to Datin to keep morale high. Without a public shout-out, a direct tweet, or a photo, the “text message” co-sign relies on a game of telephone. If R-Mean was looking to bolster his own reputation as a man with “power behind the scenes,” telling a fellow artist that Eminem is a fan would be an easy way to cement that influence.

Ultimately, while Datin’s talent is undeniable, the story of Eminem’s endorsement remains unverified. As reported by Rapzilla, Datin has seen what he believes to be proof, but in an industry built on smoke and mirrors, a third-party confirmation is rarely the same as the truth. Until Marshall Mathers himself speaks on “Hallelujah All Day,” this encounter resides in the gray area between hip-hop legend and “he said, she said” storytelling.
