Jon Connor shows love to Eminem

Posted on December 17, 2025 By Remy Gelenidze

In a recent interview with PANDA CHOP! News, the Former Aftermath signee, Jon Connor, reflects on Jay-Z’s influence on hip-hop and on his own artistry, sharing what he learned from watching Hov’s career unfold. Jon also speaks on Eminem’s impact—both on him personally and on hip-hop culture—especially with both of them representing Michigan.

“I can remember just being a Michigander and just being proud of somebody from the crib had took it to the level that Eminem took it to. When he came out, wasn’t nobody rapping like him. That’s what makes great artists great is their authenticity and staying true to who they are. Jay-Z is Jay-Z, he wasn’t trying to tell nobody else story but Jay-Z. Eminem is Eminem. He’s telling his story. He’s being his authentic self.” said Jon Connor.

Then he continued: “I learned from Em that evolution and growth is inevitable as a human and its going to always manifest itself through the art. If you listen to Eminem’s music, The Slim Shady LP Eminem is nothing like Kamikaze Eminem. We’ve listened to him grow the f–k up over the years. Each album you can hear him growing up as a man. His conversations with Hailie in the first albums are way different than the conversations with Hailie on the latest albums. You can hear the growth of the man through the art. I think that’s the biggest thing that I get from Eminem’s career.”
