Voting member of Grammys says GRIP should have been nominated for “Best New Artist” Posted on November 24, 2021November 25, 2021 By Remy Gelenidze Yesterday, the Grammys have announced the nominations for their 64th ceremony which is set to air on live on January 31, 2021.In the Best New Artist category, which the Recording Academy describes as the category which recognizes an artist whose eligibility-year release(s) achieved a breakthrough into the public consciousness and notably impacted the musical landscape, we have ten nominees: Arooj Aftab, Jimmie Allen, Baby Keem, FINNEAS, Glass Animals, Japanese Breakfast, The Kid LAROI, Arlo Parks, Olivia Rodrigo and Saweetie. Two times Grammy award winning artist, Thomas Iannucci, who is a voting member of the Grammys, expressed his disappointment for Shady Records’ GRIP not getting nominated: “As a voting member of the Academy of Recording Arts, I’m very disappointed to see GRIP left off the Best New Artists nominees list. Hopefully we will make it right next year.” said Iannucci.GRIP was signed to Eminem’s Shady Records few months ago and released his debut album “I Died for This!?” on August 27, 2021. The project received positive reviews from critics, praising GRIP’s creativity and versatility.
