Young Thug references Eminem in a new song with Travis Scott

Travis Scott has finally released his fourth solo studio album titled Utopia.

The 32-year-old rapper dropped the long-awaited and much-anticipated album on Friday (28 July) at midnight, five years after his 2018 album Astroworld was released.

Comprising 19 tracks, the album includes vocals from a range of artists including Beyoncé, Drake, The Weeknd, SZA, Kid Cudi, Future, Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon, Swae Lee, Young Thug, and Sampha.

The album also features credited contributions from James Blake, Metro Boomin, the Alchemist, Boi-1da, Kanye West, Vegyn, and more.

In a song called “SKITZO” which features Young Thug and production credits from Boi-1da, Coleman, Jahaan Sweet, Nik Dean, Slim Pharaoh, Nami and Sevn Thomas, Thugger raps: “I got white folk money, Eminem with no gold. I got rose gold teeth and rose gold rims on my Rolls.”

The line “White folk money, Eminem with no gold” is likely referencing someone who has attained financial success but doesn’t display it ostentatiously, drawing a parallel to the Eminem, known for his talent and achievements but not known for flaunting extravagant wealth or gold jewelry.

Gil Fried details how Eminem acted to avoid crowd-crash like Travis Scott’s Astroworld

Travis Scott’s Astroworld Music Festival tragedy in Houston, which killed 10 people, has touched off a new debate at the intersection of venue safety, artist responsibility and crowd etiquette.

To help understand the role that policy plays in shaping events like Astroworld, CNN talked to Gil Fried, a crowd management expert and professor at the University of West Florida.

During the conversation, professor Fried brought the example of Eminem to avoid such tragedy.

“I handled similar case a number of years ago with Eminem where there was a crowd rush at an Eminem concert down South. And a number of people got injured, and he ended up making a game out of it.”

“Eminem said to the crowd, “Okay, everyone, I’m going to start a new dance with you. Okay? Two steps back, one step forward, two steps back, one step forward.” And he was trying to alleviate the pressure of everyone that was pushed up against the barricade by doing that. And an artist can do that. An artist can say, “Hey folks, I am going to stop the concert for a couple minutes because we have an issue here. You know what? I will make it up for you guys. I will sing an extra song at the end, but I need you to listen to me. Everyone, let’s turn on the houselights. Let’s do X, let’s do Y.” Artists can do that and that is not going to trigger a mob. People are going to be respectful and listen to that.” said Gil Fried.

Back in 2001, Eminem was headliner at a Scottish festival, Green event in Glasgow. The performance was halted for 30 minutes while security pulled 45 injured fans from the surging. “Eminem and his band D12 did all they could to help the situation and we are grateful for his support,” a spokesman for Strathclyde police told the AP.

Travis Scott rocks Eminem Air Jordan 4s in newly shared pictures

Travis Scott had one of the biggest years of his career in 2018. Astroworld’s “Sicko Mode” with Drake earned him his first Billboard Hot 100  No.1 single and the album’s accompanying tour, complete with carnival rides and Ferris wheels as stage props, saw Scott pack out stadiums across the US. He also celebrated the birth of his first child Stormi with Kylie Jenner.

One of the highlights of the year was Scott’s collaboration with Nike and Jordan Brand. Even before he signed with the brand, the Houston rapper was a major supporter of Jordan products, often spotted in Air Jordan 1s. He also received Air Jordan 4s “Encore” edition from Eminem.

Travis was also recently rocking the same Eminem Air Jordans in newly shared pictures. Check them out below:
