Couple of days ago, Joyner Lucas released his much anticipated album titled Not Now I’m Busy with features from Jelly Roll, Twista, NBA YoungBoy, Logic, Conway The Machine, the late legend DMX and more. To promote the album, the Worcester, Massachusetts-born rapper sat down with Sway In The Morning on Shade 45 where he talked about his new album, DMX influence, Big 3 convo and more. At one point of the interview, Joyner listed artists that he feels are better than him and there is no weakness to acknowledge it.
“I never really had a desire to be the king of anything. It’s just not my personality to be self-proclaimed to anything. I just kinda allow people place me where they wanna place me but that does not mean I’m not competitive. I just never really care to be like ‘I’M THE BEST, I’m THE KING. I’M THE BEST RAPPER IN THE WORLD.’ It’s all subjective.” said Joyner Lucas.
Then he continued: “A lot of people say you should want to be the best, you should say you are the best and nobody’s better than you. They think it’s weak to say somebody is better than you. I disagree with that. I don’t feel that at all. I feel like there are lots of artist that are better than me. Eminem is better than me. Drake is better than me. I don’t have a problem saying that. People might look at me as weak for saying that but that’s just how I feel.”
“I feel like certain artists are better than me. Do I feel like Drake is better storyteller record to me? F–k no! There’s no way. He can’t make “I’m Not Racist,” he can’t make “Ross Capicchioni,” he can’t make “Best For Me,” but he can make “God’s Plan,” I can’t make that s–t. He can make “Hotline Bling,” I can’t do that s–t. He can hop into all these different lanes and s–t and do all these “Controller.” He’s a hybrid for real. He can sing and s–t. I can’t sing. But I think he’s overall better than me. All these stats and all the things that he could do that I could not. Kendrick can get lyrically better than me. He get busy and I love that about Kendrick. So to answer your question, I don’t care about being the besI’m just a fan of other artists bro.” Joyner Lucas added.
Iconic record producer and hip-hop artist Dr. Dre has been selected to receive the 2,775th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Compton legend was honored on March 19 at 11:30 a.m. on 6840 Hollywood Boulevard, just in front of Jimmy Kimmel Studios. He received his star in the category of music recording. Fellow hip-hop icons Eminem, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent and Xzibit and music mogul Jimmy Iovine also joined emcee Big Boy, who was a speaker at the ceremony. They all headed to Jimmy Kimmel Live where Dr. Dre announced that new Eminem album is coming this year.
“Let me tell you something. Let me explain something right now. Eminem is working on his own album which is coming out this year and I actually talked to him and he said it was okay for me to make that announcement right here on this show. So yeah, the album coming out, I got songs on it and it’s fire. I’m actually going to hear entire album for the first time tomorrow. He holds his music close to his chest so I have not heard everything. I have not even heard everything complete that I’ve done but I’m gonna hear it and he’s putting out album this year. There are things on there that I have to mix that I’ve done but I got a chance to hear album in its entirety.” said Dr. Dre during his visit on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
The next day, Eminem posted an album session picture of himself in the studio with Denaun Porter, Royce 5’9″, Dr. Dre, The Alchemist and the latest Shady Records signee, Ez Mil. In the caption, Em wrote: “Nuthin 2 see here… plenty to hear!!!”
HitsDailyDouble, a music company that features music industry news, counting sales numbers for Billboard and making innuendos, has recently hinted on Steve Berman returning as a character in a skit of new Eminem album. The last time Steve Berman appeared on a skit of Slim Shady’s album was 2009’s Relapse.
Newly tapped as vice chairman of Interscope Capitol Labels Group, the estimable, consummately menschy Steve Berman has brought his branding wizardry and state-of-the-art lever-pulling to huge projects by Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish and many more, and the latest chapter of his exemplary career finds his brief getting significantly bigger. As just one example of his amazing reach, Berm’s strong relationships with the NFL, Dre, Eminem and Snoop, among others, were integral to the Super Bowl hip-hop extravaganza.
Eminem’s new album might be closer than we think. Mr. Porter has recently answered a fan on Instagram who asked to name the date of new Slim Shady album. Em’s close friend, hypeman, producer and former member of D12 replied: “soon come.” Check the screenshot below:
DJ Whoo Kid also shared an Eminem and Dr. Dre picture on Instagram saying: “It’s going down for reals. can’t wait to hear this new @eminem album!! @drdre @eminem.” When Whoo Kid says something like that, he knows its coming out real soon.
Joyner Lucas has recently sat down with Charlamagne Tha God, DJ Envy and Jess Hilarious on The Breakfast Club to promote his new album “Not Now, I’m Busy” where he talked about how hard it is to get in touch with Eminem. He also reveals his never-before-heard conversation with Eminem and Royce 5’9″ and more.
“[When I have people doing dirty to me] It made me realize why n-ggas like Marshall move a certain way. That n-gga is like…getting on the phone with him is like…You could probably hop on the phone with Barack [Obama] quicker than you can hop on the phone with Marshall. That n-gga is calling you from the line where his manager’s assistant is calling you from 1-800 number and then it’s like elevated music and it’s like ‘please hold, Marshall’s coming to the phone.’ You can’t have his number. Nobody has his number. You are not accessible. You can’t talk to him. It’s like hopping on the phone with president. And I always wondered why this n-gga moves like that.” – said Joyner Lucas.
Then he continued: “I had a conversation with him on the shoot of the ‘Lucky You’ and I was in his trailer and I’m like ‘anytime you wanna talk, anytime you wanna build, you can hit me. We can talk. We can build on this music s–t.’ He was like ‘yeah, yeah, yeah’ and I could tell he was really like standoffish. And I asked Royce ‘yo, why is he like that?’ And he was like ‘that n-gga been through a lot of s–t. He’s really closed off from people.’ And I’m like ‘damn!’ And I never understood it. And when I started experiencing this s–t myself, I got it, instantly. I’m like ‘this is why this mothef–ker don’t want new friends. And I get it. 100%.”
“[He was the biggest star in the world at one point.] And he still is. He gotta drop a f–king album and he’s still…He just can’t be outside. He can’t be the n-gga that can be just outside like that. He just can’t walk in the streets of f–king New York. He’s a big deal to this day. He moves like that for a reason. You can probably get Jay-Z be texting n-ggas and s–t. Some n-ggas don’t know how to handle trauma and all that s–t. But I’m starting to get in the space now where it’s like I understand why this industry n-ggas move. When I came to the game I was like ‘these n-ggas are weird’ but now I see why n-ggas are weird.” Joyner Lucas added.
Earlier in the interview, Joyner was also asked why he’s not in the conversation of Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole and Drake league on which he responded: “I’m in those conversations when you are talking to people like Marshall, you are talking to Eminem. He always mentions me. He puts me right next to them. He always talks about it and even in the records he’ll be saying like his favorite artist is…sometimes he throws my name first. Joyner, Cole, Kendrick. He definitely acknowledges that and in my mind he’s considered as one of the greatest if not the greatest so I’m getting if that guy says those things then I guess that stands for something.”
Couple of days ago, Joyner Lucas released his much anticipated album titled Not Now I’m Busy with features from Jelly Roll, Twista, NBA YoungBoy, Logic, Conway The Machine, the late legend DMX and more. To promote the album, the Worcester, Massachusetts-born rapper sat down with DJ Pup Dawg for Dunkin’ Music Lounge interview on JAM’N 94.5 where he revealed that he once asked Eminem to recut his verse.
“I’ve gotten into that situation, with Eminem. That was difficult. That was a record that never came out, between me and Marshall. He had this last verse but he did not wanna hear the concept that I was thinking or the vision for the video. He didn’t wanna hear it. He kept telling me ‘don’t tell me, don’t tell me.’ I said ‘bro you have to know it because that’s the way you gonna have to write it.’ He was like ‘nah!’ and I was like ‘alright!'” said Joyner Lucas.
Then he continued: “So he wrote it and it was not, like, he went whole another direction than what I’ve seen in the video. And when he did that, he asked me what I thought about it. I told him that was fire but I just felt like he went in another direction and I was like ‘can we change the ending?’ and it was tough for me to say that. Cause this is like The Man, somebody that I grew up and idolized. He’s my hero bro. So, having to tell him that was difficult but I told him that and he was like ‘WOW! Nobody has ever told me to recut my verse.’ And I was like ‘Nah, I’m not telling you to recut it but just the ending of it, can we change little bit of ending?’ But I had to do that for sure. He respected that. He recut it for sure.”
Maybe this is the reason why we got two versions of “What If I Was Gay?”? A song with Eminem that was leaked in 2018. Alternatively titled as “If I Told You” focuses on a suppressed homosexual coming out to his friend—Joyner takes the perspective of the gay man coming out while Eminem takes the perspective of his unsupportive Christian friend. The encounter leads the homosexual man to commit suicide, ultimately giving Em’s character feelings of regret. It also ends in a twist, as Eminem’s character reveals that he’s also gay. A snippet of the track was leaked on October 28, 2019, and the full version was leaked two days later on October 31, 2019, under the name “What If I Was Gay?” Few days later, the alternative version of the song was also leaked with different verse from Eminem. The track marks the second official collaboration between the two rappers following August 2018’s “Lucky You,” from Kamikaze album.
Anyone who knows me knows I’m a huge fan of D12 and all things Shady Records. When I heard 2/6 of D12 were coming to my city along with Obie Trice, you know I had to jump on it. Naturally, I had to grab the VIP meet and greet pass too.
When the day finally came, I was unreasonable, just as nervous as I was excited. I felt like I was about to have Mom’s Spaghetti on my sweater. As I was waiting in line for my turn to meet D12, I was greeted by a man who I wasn’t familiar with. I later learned this was the hype-man/DJ that was touring with them, DJ Invisible. This guy is a ray of sunshine. His smiley persona is contagious in a way that just makes you feel comfortable where you are.
While waiting in line, I decided with my buddy that we’d meet them at the same time. We thought this would take some pressure off. Once we finally got to the front of the line, I had a nearly out of body experience as I first shook hands with Swifty. I told him how I’d been a fan of his since way before I was old enough for his music. Next, I shook hands with Kuniva. I told him I had a part in writing an interview he did for Southpawer a while back. He told me it was a great script and tied it off with a “Much Respect” acknowledgement.
As Swifty and Kuniva happily signed my D12 CD, I started making small talk. My buddy asked Swifty what his favorite track he’s ever recorded is. Swift told him he can’t really give an answer because it would be like trying to choose a favorite child. I joked with him and said “Well, you have to say you don’t have a favorite child, but secretly, deep, deep down you do”. Swifty sort of chuckled and said “Alright, I’d probably say “Loyalty” then.” Finally, we turned around to snap one of the most awkward but cherished photos in my personal history.
These guys are incredibly easy to talk to. They’re very welcoming and all about their fans. Meeting these guys feels like meeting up with a close friend that you haven’t seen in years. I get the impression that they don’t take anything they have for granted and they don’t feel entitled to have fans that have hung around to the end.
Once the D12 meet and greet was over I hung around the bar in the same room as D12 as they continued to meet more fans. I took this opportunity to make my way to the front row of the stage. Before the show started, an artist by the name of Hinch did about 30 minutes of material. I never heard of him but he definitely knows how to warm up a crowd.
Once Hinch wrapped up his set, he said goodbye to the crowd and it was time for DJ Invisible to step in and prepare us for Obie Trice. A short time later, Obie sneaks onto the stage and slips right into “Got Some Teeth”. This is one of my favorite Obie tracks, so I was very happy to see him open with it.
A short time into the set, Obie stopped to pay his respects to Nate Dogg. As he prompted the audience to all put 2 fingers in the air for Nate Dogg, he continued to perform “Look in My Eyes.”
One of the most surprising moments of his set is when he decided to tell a little untold story about Akon. I believe this was when he met him for the first time.
I was really happy to hear him perform his verse from one of the deeper album cuts from Eminem‘s Encore album, “Spend Some Time.” The hypeman also made the crowd to scream “Shady Forever” a few times.
Next, Obie did his verse from the track “S–t Hits The Fan.” Despite the fact that Obie had to cover Eminem’s part while the background vocals play, you almost don’t notice. There’s something to say about such a level of energy and validity about someone’s performance when you almost forget Em wasn’t in the room.
Speaking of Eminem, Obie humbly paid massive respects to the man himself, Marshall. It’s truly touching to hear Obie counting his blessings and not taking his Shady connection for granted.
Obie finished his set with a very raunchy rendition of “Shake That.” He invited some women from the crowd to come dance with him and things got a little… interesting. Let’s just say that it was the type of dancing that is very appropriate for “Shake That” and maybe not appropriate for children.
As Obie walked off the stage, I noticed the crew setting up for D12. I was in the first row, so I was close enough that I could actually see their setlist guide that they taped to the floor, nice!
Dj Invisible opens for D12 and hypes the crowd up.
DJ Invisible came back out on stage to keep the hype at it’s maximum while we patiently waited for D12 to make their entrance. As he comically appears to start levitating a giant D12 cap from underneath the table to his head. Soon after, D12 opens with “Rap Game”. This guy oozes charisma and DJ skills. I also very much enjoyed his wacky giant D12 hat. D12 finally came out with the crowd losing their minds; every arm in the building raised higher than Shaq on his tiptoes.
Still high off that introduction, they double up on it with “S–t On You.”
One of the biggest highlights of the entire show was when they pulled out a cover of Eminem’s “Lose Yourself”. The crowd knew the words so well you could barely hear D12. The icing on the cake is when a female fan snuck on stage and started dancing with them until security had to remove her.
The hype never died down for a second during the entire show. The guy’s were determined to make that a fact. Towards the end, Kuniva and Swift even went head to head in a hype battle.
To close the show, Obie Trice returned and joined the rest of the gang for a few tracks. If I remember correctly, I believe they wound the show down with a performance of “Loyalty”
After the show, I had one thing left to do. I had to navigate through a club full of staggering drunk people and find Obie. He was supposed to be there before the show, but he was late. This made finding him after the show a little chaotic. Thankfully, I found the man and told him how incredible the show was. I pull out my Devil’s Night CD and ask for an autograph. I said “I believe this was your first appearance on the Shady Records label, if I’m not mistaken!” He paused for a second, looked at the CD cover and immediately quoted the first bar or so of his “Obie Trice” skit. I’ve never been more star-struck in my entire life. As he happily started signing the booklet of the CD, I sort of chuckled and said, “Yeah, exactly!” As I’m about to pass out from exhaustion, I get my picture with Obie, he signs, I thank him one more time and leave with some incredible memories…

Benzino has recently flown to Detroit to flim the music video of “Rap Elvis” in Eminem’s “Mom’s Spaghetti” restaurant. In the videos that surfaced online, Zino appears to be tasting spaghetti and then throwing it away in front of the restaurant. He also picked the signage board and put it into his car. Then he entered into the museum acted silly in front of iconic Eminem collectibles. While nobody from Shady camp has made any comment about it, Detroit’s own Snap Dogg speaks up!
“Detroit, this is what the f–k with doin’ now? This s–t is Detroit VS Everybody. I get how y’all feel about Em. Y’all feel like he ain’t putting nobody on or doing nothing but he did it in his era bro. But y’all going to let another n-gga come from another different city and invade our f–king streets in our city like we some soft a-s n-ggas in this b-tch? Y’all go against another n-gga who’s from the city or another n-gga who ain’t from the city? Who’s just using y’all and going back home, y’all never going to hear from this man? Who ain’t going to do nothing for your careers? Y’all say Em ain’t doin’ nothing, what Benzino doing for y’all besides using you n-ggas. The city is weak as f–k right now. And my understanding is that this man just cry on interview saying he want no smoke with Em.” said Snap Dogg in one of his Instagram videos.
He then continued: “Benzino, I’m outside today. If me and my n-ggas see you, we beating yo a-s and anybody that you with in the city can’t stop me. Ain’t nobody stoppin’ Snap n-gga. I ain’t worried about n-ggas that you with. C’mon man. Detroit, we gotta do better. No Fly Zone means something! It’s bigger than what the f–k you n-ggas doing bro!”
Then he posted another video, saying: “Only the real gon’ understand me. I don’t expect yo little a-s punk a-s n-ggas to understand me bro. Stand on morals around this b-tch man. Y’all n-ggas from the city laughing at this s–t. You go to this n-gga mama restaurant and taking signs and s–t, n-gga?! Do you realize Benzino you got a daughter that got to come to Detroit if she go on tour boy!”
Snap uploaded another video where he says: “If real n-ggas would have known that that man was coming here and tryna do that, I guarantee that would never happen. That’s just facts. The real ones that’s in the city that got power and know what’s going on. That would never happen bro.”
Iconic record producer and hip-hop artist Dr. Dre was awarded with the 2,775th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Compton legend was honored on March 19 at 11:30 a.m. on 6840 Hollywood Boulevard, just in front of Jimmy Kimmel Studios. He received his star in the category of music recording. Fellow hip-hop icons Eminem, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Kurupt, DJ Quik and Xzibit and music mogul Jimmy Iovine also joined emcee Big Boy as a special guests, who was a speaker at the ceremony.
“Dr. Dre’s contributions to the music industry are undeniable and have left an indelible mark on popular culture. As a producer, rapper, and entrepreneur, Dr. Dre has continuously pushed boundaries and set new standards for excellence.” – Said producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame Ana Martinez. Martinez also added that the location of Dr. Dre’s star is particularly special because it is nestled alongside that of long-time friend collaborator Snoop Dogg.
Dr. Dre has nine Grammy Awards, record label Aftermath Entertainment and audio products manufacturer Beats Electronics under his belt. He formed an iconic rap group N.W.A. and gave the world hip-hop stars like Snoop Dogg, Eminem, 50 Cent, The Game, Kendrick Lamar and Anderson .Paak at Aftermath Entertainment after founding it in 1996.
A Compton native and philanthropist, Dr. Dre donated $10 million to Compton High School for the school’s new performing arts center that broke ground in 2022. According to the Compton Unified School District, it has been named the “Andre ‘Dr. Dre’ Young Performing Arts Center” in his honor.
Dr. Dre’s last couple of years were extraordinary. After performing at Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2022, he won Emmy Awards, Grammy Global Impact Award, Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award with N.W.A, ASCAP Hip-Hop Icon Award and he now has a star on Hollywood Walk Of Fame.

Since Metro Boomin and Future unleashed the first of their two joint albums, titled WE DON’T TRUST YOU, social media blew up on Friday (Mar. 22, 2024), courtesy of an explosive verse detonated by the one and only Kendrick Lamar. On the song called “Like That,” K. Dot throws several jabs, suggestively targeting two of the best rappers in the game, J. Cole and Drake.
“Yeah, get up with me, f–k sneak dissing/ ‘First Person Shooter,’ I hope they came with three switches,” Kendrick spits on his guest verse. “First Person Shooter” is the collaborative song Drake and Cole released last year on which the latter boasted: “Love when they argue the hardest MC/ Is it K-Dot? Is it Aubrey? Or me?/We the big three like we started a league.”
Kendrick Lamar didn’t stop there, as he continued firing more shots at Dreezy and Jermaine. “Think I won’t drop the location? I still got PTSD/ Motherf–k the Big 3, n-gga, it’s just big me,” he raps. Lamar then seemingly aimed directly at Drake, saying: “‘Fore all your dogs gettin’ buried, that’s a K with all these nines, he gon’ see Pet Sematary.” For context, Drake’s last album is titled For All The Dogs that came out in 2023.
Kendrick firing shots at his peers overshadowed some interesting lines he had in the middle of his verse, which appears to be inspired by Eminem‘s actions against Melle Mel. “I crash out, like, “F–k rap,” diss Melle Mel if I had to.” raps Kendrick.
Melle Mel was the lead rapper and songwriter of Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five, the 1970’s New York hip-hop collective that not only pioneered the art of rapping, but the genre of hip-hop altogether. To diss Melle Mel would be dissing rap and hip-hop itself, which Kendrick is well aware of and willing to do if necessary, meaning no one is safe. Lamar may be drawing parallels to the infamous 2023 beef between Detroit legend Eminem and Melle Mel.
The beef started back in a March 2023 with Art of Dialogue interview where Mel suggested that Slim Shady’s No. 5 placement on Billboard’s top 50 Rappers of All Time list was because of him being white. Em would go on to respond with a diss on “Realest,” a July 2023 track by Shady Records’ recent signee Ez Mil where Em claimed Melle Mel lost his mind to steroid use. Melle Mel replied in a diss of his own which was poorly received to the point Melle Mel had deleted the track and issued public apology for the song and for starting the beef itself.

Lazarus has recently dropped a single titled “Scalpel,” produced by Detroit’s own super-producer Denaun Porter. The song showcases the art of lyricism bring it to new heights as Lazarus delivers multi-syllable rhymes and flow schemes with the sharpness of a surgical scalpel. The song received praise from critics and the fans. You can bump it below:
Eminem has just sent the fans into madness as the Detroit legend shares pictures of himself in the studio with Dr. Dre, Royce 5’9″, The Alchemist, Denaun Porter and his recent Shady Records signee, Ez Mil. It is highly possible that all these artists that appear in the picture are featured on the new album or Eminem just invited them for a listening session.
One thing that we know for sure, Dr. Dre will be on the album. “Let me tell you something. Let me explain something right now. Last time Eminem dropped the full body of work was more than 4 years ago. Em dropped his 11th solo studio album Music to Be Murdered By on January 17, 2020, through Shady Records, Aftermath Entertainment, and Interscope Records. Just like Eminem’s previous studio album Kamikaze (2018), the album was released with no prior announcement. The album was produced by many producers, with Eminem and Dr. Dre serving as executive producers. It features guest appearances from Skylar Grey, Young M.A, Royce da 5’9″, White Gold, Ed Sheeran, the late Juice WRLD, Black Thought, Q-Tip, Denaun, Anderson .Paak, Don Toliver, Kxng Crooked and Joell Ortiz.
The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, selling 279,000 album-equivalent units in its first week. Subsequently, Eminem became the first artist to have ten consecutive number-one albums in the US and one of six artists to have released at least ten US number-one albums. Music to Be Murdered By reached number one in 16 countries. Music critics praised Eminem’s lyrical abilities and the improved production after Kamikaze, while criticism was directed towards the album’s formulaic song structure, lack of innovation, and shock value.
On December 18, 2020, Eminem released a deluxe version of the album, named Music to Be Murdered By – Side B, without any prior announcement. It includes the original album’s 20 tracks along with 16 new ones. It includes a variety of features, with guest appearances from Skylar Grey, DJ Premier, Ty Dolla $ign, Dr. Dre, Sly Pyper, MAJ, and White Gold…Check out Eminem’s latest post below:
Terence Crawford was out in Hollywood on March 19 night to celebrate legendary Dr. Dre getting a star on the coveted Walk of Fame. The former two-weight undisputed champion took star-studded photo shots with Eminem, 50 Cent and Snoop Dogg as they showed up to support the iconic rapper and producer on his very special day.
Snoop Dogg / Terence Crawford
“Major congratulations @drdre on your Hollywood Star. Honored to have been a part of your special day today. Long overdue and very well deserved.” Captioned Crawford on Instagram. Crystina Poncher, international play-by-play commentator and host for Top Rank Boxing and ESPN replied: “Ok this pic is GOATED! I don’t even care if that’s not a real word, it’s what it is!” King Iso, Nebraska rapper who currently is signed to Tech N9ne’s label Strange Music, replied with “GOATs” emojis.
Dr Dre is a long-time supporter of Crawford’s. Ahead of his WBO welterweight title defense fight against ‘Mean Machine’ Egidijus Kavaliauskas back in 2019, the Top Rank cameras captured a Facetime conversation between Crawford and the hip-hop icon. “Hey man, I just wanted to say I’m a super fan and I’ve been following your career for a long time. I respect you man and I love what you’re doing. Everything about you is fire.” said Dre.
Eminem is also a fan of Crawford. Last summer Slim Shady was in Las Vegas to walk boxer Terence Crawford to the ring for his title fight against Errol Spence Jr. “Las Vegas, make some noise for the next undisputed welterweight champion of the world, Terence “Bud” f–king Crawford,” Eminem yelled to the star-filled crowd as the signature beats of his 8 Mile hit “Lose Yourself” filled the T-Mobile Arena.
Following his victory, Crawford told Showtime about how he managed to get Eminem to be his hype man, saying he simply DM’d the rapper. “I throw a rock in a haystack and he replied, I told him to pull up, and he said, ‘I’m there.
