Lil Wayne Says These 3 Songs Define Him, Including One with Eminem

Posted on March 19, 2026March 19, 2026 By Remy Gelenidze

In a recent episode of Not Just Football with Cam Heyward, Cam Heyward and co-host Hayden Walsh sat down with hip-hop legend Lil Wayne for a wide-ranging conversation that blended music, sports, and legacy.

Weezy, widely regarded as one of the most influential rappers of his generation, reflected on his evolution from a teenage prodigy in the Cash Money Records era to a global icon who reshaped the sound of modern hip-hop. The discussion also touched on his deep love for sports, especially football, and how competition in music mirrors what happens on the field in the NFL.

One of the standout moments came when Hayden Walsh posed a deceptively simple but revealing question: If someone had never heard his music before, which three Lil Wayne songs should they listen to? Wayne’s answer offered a thoughtful glimpse into how he sees his own catalog, not just as hits, but as a spectrum of artistry: “Probably give them, just to have a wide range of who I am or what it is, I probably give them something from mixtapes. And then, something like ‘God Bless America’ or something with Eminem. Maybe ‘Drop The World.’ And then I might go with ‘How To Love.’”

His response highlights three distinct sides of Lil Wayne: Mixtape Wayne – the raw, unfiltered lyricist who dominated the underground with projects like Dedication and Da Drought series. Collaborative Wayne – showcased in tracks like “Drop The World” with Eminem, where he matches intensity with arguably hip-hop’s most technical artist. Emotional Wayne – seen in “How To Love,” a departure from his usual style that revealed a more vulnerable and melodic side.

That emotional openness is one side of Wayne, but his mention of Eminem points to another crucial part of his legacy: his ability to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with elite lyricists at the highest level. His collaborations with Eminem, “Drop The World,” “Forever” and later “No Love,” are often viewed by fans as benchmark moments where two different styles, Wayne’s punchline-heavy, free-flowing delivery and Eminem’s razor-sharp technical precision, collide.

What makes those records stand out isn’t just star power, but mutual respect. Wayne has long praised Eminem as one of the greatest to ever do it, and on tracks like “Drop The World,” you can hear that respect translate into performance: both rappers pushing themselves to deliver standout verses. Eminem’s explosive closing verse on the track became one of the most talked-about moments in the song, while Wayne sets the tone with a dark, determined energy that anchors the record.
